100 Miles and Runnin' (song)

"100 Miles and Runnin'" is a song by N.W.A from their 1990 EP of the same name. The song also appeared on the N.W.A's Greatest Hits and The Best of N.W.A. - The Strength of Street Knowledge compilation.

Background

This song is where the feud between N.W.A and former member Ice Cube begins. On Dr. Dre's second verse in this song, he raps the following lines:

"It started with five but yo one couldn't take it." /"So now there's four 'cause the fifth couldn't make it." "The number's even." /"And now I'm leaving"

The line is a reference to Ice Cube and that he left the group so they were four members.

"100 Miles and Runnin'" also mentions The D.O.C.'s song "Lend Me an Ear" from his 1989 album No One Can Do It Better, which was also produced by Dre.

Music video

In November 1990, a music video directed by Eric Meza was aired and released. In the video the intro begins with N.W.A members being arrested by the police and exactly when the song begins they flee and appear on several scenes including, jumping onto the roof of a moving car, fleeing to back of a van and others. In the end someone wears a baseball cap similar to the ones the band members wear, so the police get into the house and grab the cap, and they understand that it's someone else dressed similarly to the N.W.A members. Runnin' (Dying to Live)

"Runnin' (Dying to Live)", by the late rappers 2Pac and The Notorious B.I.G. was the first released single from the posthumous soundtrack album Tupac: Resurrection.

Overview

The song is a remake of an Easy Mo Bee-produced song called "Runnin' From tha Police", recorded by Tupac Shakur and Notorious B.I.G. in 1994. Easy Mo Bee subsequently received songwriting credits on "Runnin' (Dying To Live)".

The chorus is from Edgar Winter's song "Dying to Live" (from the album Edgar Winter's White Trash), which was edited to a higher pitch for the song. The interview of Notorious B.I.G. heard at the end of the track was recorded only a couple of weeks before his death.

Music video

The video contains interviews of both Tupac and Notorious B.I.G. It is the only song from the album to feature a music video. The video version mutes all language, violence and drug references, even Biggie's comment about two cops being shot (the radio version only censors all profanity except the word "bitches" in 2Pac's verse). In the video, it has past images of 2Pac and Biggie, and once their verses end, the song fades out.

Miles (band)

Miles is a rock band from Bangladesh. Formed in 1979, the group currently consists of Hamin Ahmed (vocal and guitar), Shafin Ahmed (vocal and bass), Manam Ahmed (keyboards and vocal), Syed Ziaur Rahman Turjo (drums and percussion) and Iqbal Asif Jewel (guitar and vocal).

History

The first group included Farid Rashid (vocal and bass), Kamal Mainuddin (drums), Larry Burnaby (lead guitar), Ishtiaq (lead guitar), Musa (guitar), Robin (key board and vocal) and Happy Akhand (keyboards and vocal). Later on, others joined the band - Shehedul Huda (drums), Khayem (bass), Milton (drums), Mahbub Rashid (drums) and Schumann Zaman (bass).

In 1982, their first album was released in English, self-titled Miles including three original songs and xeven cover songs. Their first Bengali album Protisruti was released in 1991. It included 12 original Bengali songs. Second Bengali album Prottasha was released in 1993. In 1994, first CD of the band was released as Best of Miles. This was the first ever CD of a Bangladeshi band.

Main characters

Arnold

Arnold (voiced by Toran Caudell in season 1; Phillip Van Dyke in seasons 2–3; Spencer Klein in seasons 4–5; Alex D. Linz in season 5) is the nice, kind, optimistic nine-year-old protagonist and title character of the series. He is a dreamer and an idealist who always tries to see the best in people and do the right thing. Whenever he sees someone in trouble, especially Helga, Arnold goes out of his way to help them out, even if it is not sensible to do so. Arnold often acts as the stable center to those around him, whether he is around his "family" in his paternal grandparents' boarding house, or around his friends at school. He lives in Sunset Arms boarding house with his grandparents, Phil and Getrude.

Arnold has had two major crushes in the series: one with sixth-grader Ruth McDougal (through most of season 1), and one with a classmate named Lila Sawyer (introduced in season 2). However, his most catalytic relationship is with his classmate Helga Pataki. Helga is secretly in love with him, though to keep these feelings secret she bullies Arnold. Arnold is completely unaware of this fact for most of the series, other than the occasional hint from Helga and other classmates. Helga revealed her secret to Arnold during Hey Arnold!: The Movie, but Arnold gave Helga the opportunity to take back her confession, attributing it to "the heat of the moment". According to series creator Craig Bartlett, had the canceled "Jungle Movie" sequel been animated, Arnold would have returned Helga's feelings with a kiss of his own, with his best friend interrupting the moment. Arnold is friends with most of his fellow fourth-graders, with the best of which being Gerald Johanssen, whose friendship dates as far back as preschool.

Miles (mascot)

Miles is one of two official mascots of the Denver Broncos, an NFL football team. He was founded on January 31, 1999, the same day that the Broncos became Super Bowl champions for the second time at the Pro Player Stadium in Miami, Florida. However, he did not appear in person as a mascot until 2 years later. Now Miles resides at Sports Authority field in Denver, Colorado. He is a regular at the Broncos' games but, unlike some football mascots, he also makes time for community promotions. One of his biggest roles is promoting the Broncos' reading program, "Read like a Pro."

Northwest Airlines Flight 253

Northwest Airlines Flight 253 was an international passenger flight from Amsterdam Airport Schiphol in Haarlemmermeer, Netherlands, to Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport in Romulus, Michigan, United States. The flight was the target of a failed al-Qaeda bombing attempt on Christmas Day, December 25, 2009, in which a passenger tried to set off plastic explosives sewn to his underwear. There were 290 people on board the aircraft—an Airbus A330-323E operated by Northwest Airlines, which had merged with Delta Air Lines the year before. Had the attempt succeeded, it would have surpassed American Airlines Flight 191 as the deadliest aviation occurrence on U.S. soil and tied Iran Air Flight 655 as the eighth-deadliest of all time. The incident was also the second in 2009 involving an Airbus A330, after Air France Flight 447 on 1 June.

The convicted bomber in the "Christmas Day bombing attempt" was 23-year-old Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab, a Nigerian who had concealed plastic explosives in his underwear but failed to detonate them properly. A Dutch passenger, Jasper Schuringa, tackled and restrained him and put out the fire with the aid of others. Abdulmutallab was handcuffed while the pilot safely landed the plane. In all, three people were injured: Abdulmutallab, Schuringa, and one other passenger. Upon landing in Detroit, Abdulmutallab was arrested and taken to a hospital for treatment of his burns. On December 28, 2009, al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP) claimed responsibility for the attempted bombing. On January 6, 2010, a federal grand jury indicted Abdulmutallab on six criminal charges, including attempted use of a weapon of mass destruction and attempted murder.

Northwest Africa 3009

The NWA 3009 meteorite was found in Northwest Africa during 2001.

Name

Meteorites are usually named after the village nearest their place of discovery. Those found in the deserts of Northwest Africa have mostly been called NWA (for Northwest Africa) followed by a serial number.

History

Like all L chondrites NWA 3009 probably comes from the asteroid 433 Eros, which may have collided millions of years ago with another fragment in the asteroid belt. The debris from the collision departed on an eccentric path, eventually crossing Earth's orbit and impacting as meteorites. The reflectance spectra of Eros correspond quite accurately with those of the L-and LL-chondrites.

It is held in a private collection in Oldenburg, Lower Saxony.

Samples from the meteorite are held by the Mineralogical Museum of the University of Hamburg and the Max Planck Institute for Chemistry in Mainz.
