China Adventures - TaiShan (Part 1)
Weekend trip to TaiShan in Shandong. TaiShan / Mount Tai (Chinese: 泰山) is a mountain of historical and cultural significance located north of the city of Tai'an, in Shandong Province, China. The tallest peak is Jade Emperor Peak which is commonly reported as 1545 metres (5069 feet) tall. Mount Tai is one of the "Five Sacred Mountains of Taoism". It is associated with sunrise, birth, and renewal, and is often regarded the foremost of the five. The temples on its slopes have been a destination for pilgrims for 3000 years. In total, there are 22 temples, 97 ruins, 819 stone tablets, and 1018 cliff-side and stone inscriptions located on Mount Tai. A flight of 6600 steps (that number is disputed depending on who is counting and where they started, but it really doesn't matter) lead up the East Peak of Mount Tai, along its course, there are 11 gates, 14 archways, 14 kiosks, and 4 pavilions.

Lau Village in Taishan China Town of Guangdon Guang Hai Zhen Village People, Macho Macho Man...
What an incredible feeling it was to finally visit the little village where my father came from - Guang Lam Lei (sp). This is a place my siblings and I have heard so much about but never, ever thought we would see it in person. I am so very happy to have had the opportunity to see it in person and I plan on going back again so that I can absorb everything. I am still awe-struck. Hope you enjoy this short clip....I made it for you, Dad. I was just too excited! Oct 18, 2010

Legless Singer Tops Taishan Summit—Again!
Legless Singer Tops Taishan Summit—Again!
For more news visit ☛ english.ntdtv.com Follow us on Twitter ☛ http Add us on Facebook ☛ facebook.com t's not easy to walk up to the top of Mount Taishan in China, but how about climbing up to it on your hands. A Chinese singer, who doesn't have legs, did just that, and for the eleventh time. His determination inspired many along the way. Here's that story. Chen Zhou made it to the top of Mount Taishan in China's Shandong Province on Monday (May 16). He "walked" the entire 6300-step ascent on his hands. By the time he finally reached the top he was exhausted. His hands were covered with blisters, but he'd made it. As he neared the summit his determination shined through. [Chen Zhou, Legless Singer]: "I'm very tired, but I have to finish it." And the climb up Taishan is pretty difficult even on foot. Several fellow climbers said they felt inspired by Chen. [Tourist]: "I said to my friend just now that I had planned to give up at the half point, but I've changed my mind after I met him on the way. It would be a shame if I couldn't get to the top." [Tourist]: "I'm deeply moved by his spirit and determination." Chen was accompanied by a host of friends and volunteers who provided him with food, drink, and company along the way. Chen started singing for money on the streets after losing his legs in a train hopping accident.
