Vera Sukova defeated Maria Bueno 6-4 6-3 in the semifinals of Wimbledon, 1962. Earlier, Sukova defeated Jan Lehane, defending champion Angela Mortimer, and
U. S. No. 1 Darlene Hard. In this match, Bueno led 3-2 in the first set, and then served three double faults. Sukova used well placed lobs and passing shots to win the first set, and after Bueno reached 3-1 in the second set, Sukova won five games to take the match. In the final, Sukova lost to Karen Susman, 6-4 6-4.

Vera Sukova defeated U. S, No. 1 Darlene Hard 6-4 6-3 in the quarterfinals of Wimbledon, 1962. Earlier, Sukova had beaten Jan Lehane and defending champion Angela Mortimer. In this match, Hard raced to a 3-0 lead in the first set. Sukova then began lobbing, and Hard decided to stay on the baseline, where her suspect forehand completely collapsed. Hard was also undone by 13 double faults, including one on match point. Sukova went on to defeat Maria Bueno in the semifinals before losing to Karen Susman in the final.
