Pécs is the fifth largest city of Hungary, located on the slopes of the Mecsek mountains in the south-west of the country, close to its border with Croatia. It is the administrative and economical centre of Baranya county. Pécs is also the seat of Roman Catholic Diocese of Pécs. The city Sopianae was founded by Romans at the beginning of the 2nd century, on an area peopled by Celts and Pannoni tribes. By the 4th century it became the capital of Valeria province and a significant early Christian center. The early Christian necropolis is from this era which became an UNESCO World Heritage Site in December 2000. Its episcopate was founded in 1009 by Steven I, and the first university in Hungary was founded in Pécs in 1367 by Louis I the Great. (The largest university still resides in Pécs with about 34 thousand students.) Pécs was formed into one of the cultural and arts center of the country by bishop Janus Pannonius, the great, Hungarian, humanist poet.[3] Pécs has a rich heritage from the age of a 150 year long Ottoman occupation, like the mosque of pasha Qasim the Victorious on Széchenyi square. Pécs always was a multicultural city where many cultural layers are encrusted melting different values of the history of two thousand years. Magyars, Croatians and Swabians still live in peace together in economic and cultural polarity. We visit one of this year's European Capitals of Culture - the Hungarian city of Pécs. The southern Hungarian metropolis is a mix of various cultures. Pécs was conquered by the Turks in the late 1500s and they ruled the city for 150 years. Thus,in the main square you see a huge mosque which today houses a Catholic church. (Another mosque in the city actually is a place of worship for the city's tiny Muslim population.) The city also has a German past as thousands of Swabians settled there in the 1800s. We also visit the world-renowned Zsolnay porcelain company.

A klip költségvetése nulla forint lenne, ha eltekintünk Csuminéni péksüteményeitől, a Kispénzgézának adott pár száz forinttól, illetve a vacsorától és limonádétól, amire Éront, az operatőrt meghívtam, mert egyébként pénzt nem kért érte. A felvétel során végig dacoltunk a technikával, a mikroport nem mindig továbbította a hangot, és néha torzította, emiatt helyenként újra felvettük azt, ez hallatszik is. A város egy igazi vidéki kisváros életét éli. Az 1950-es években járunk. Ekkor a buszjáratok zöme még a Széchenyi térről indult és járt még a villamos is. A film "főszereplője" a pécsi villamos, mivel itt a belvároson keresztül halad át, mind a három járata, de a film célja mégsem a villamos történetének bemutatása. És mégis, a fényképek azt az időszakot idézik fel amikor még a belvárosban csilingelt a villamos. A felvételek többsége még egy soha nem publikált fénykép gyűjteményből származnak (pár más forrásból származó képpel kiegészítve). Kellemes nosztalgiázást. Az eredeti 1939-ben készült film, vágva és feliratozva. Sok pécsinek - aki az 1960-as években ill. az 1970-es évek elején volt fiatal - ismerős szinte minden képkocka, mert ekkor még nem rombolták le a belváros egy részét és még nem rondították el "modern" épület szörnyekkel (lásd. Kossuth tér, Bajcsy Zs. utca). Nem voltak még lakótelepek de, volt pl. a városnak két Strandja is! (Balokány és Hullám). Aki nem ismeri fel az egyes helyszíneket annak segíthetnek a feliratok.
