Chinese Fur Trade (part1)
Chinese Fur Trade (part1)
Warning this video contains images that some viewers may find disturbing!!! Video courtesy of Swiss Animal Protection www.animal-protection.net Chinese Customs statistics indicate a net volume of fur imports and exports for 2003 of US$997.6 million, up 42.5% from 2002. More than 95% of fur clothing produced in China is sold to overseas markets, with 80% of fur exports from Hong Kong destined for Europe, the USA and Japan. The countrys expanding product range includes pelts, full coats, fur accessories, such as scarves and hats etc., toys, garment trimmings and even furniture. A random market survey in boutiques and department stores in Switzerland and London discovered fur garments labelled Made in China among top fashion brands. A significant number of animals remain fully conscious during this process. Supremely helpless, they struggle and try to fight back to the very end. Even after their skin has been stripped off breathing, heart beat, directional body and eyelid movements were evident for 5 to 10 minutes.

Québec History 6 - French and English Rivalry
Québec History 6 - French and English Rivalry
Québec a Nation History (Part 6) King William's War - Première Guerre intercoloniale A coureur des bois (runner of the woods) was an independant individual who engaged in the fur trade. During the 17th century, the fur trade was very lucrative for New France. Many risked the journey west and north through hostile Iroquois territory from the settlements around Montreal to the "pays d'en haut", or upper country to trade with Native trappers. These coureurs des bois were not looked upon favourably by France authorities or royal officials. King William's War began after William of Orange was declared King of England. In August, 1500 Iroquois attacked the New France settlement at Lachine before New France had even learned of the start of the war. Frontenac later attacked the Iroquois village of Onondaga. New France and its Indian allies then attacked English frontier settlements, most notably the Schenectady Massacre of 1690. The English captured Port Royal, Nova Scotia, the capital of Acadia, and then launched an expedition to seize the capital of New France, but were defeated in the Battle of Quebec. The French attacked the British-held coast, recapturing Port Royal.

Stella McCartney Investigates A Fur Farm
Stella McCartney Investigates A Fur Farm
This is a video of the daughter of ex Beatle Paul McCartney speaking out against the barbaric, horrific, unforgivable and completely unnecessary acts of killing animals for their fur. Wearing real animal fur is murder and is a truly unforgivable crime against animals and one of the most selfish and uncompassionate acts a human being can ever display towards another innocent living creature; just so they can look good, be comfortable, heighten their celebrity status or fatten their wallet as a seller and promoter of it. The average human being has no reason in the world to wear real fur and yet we continue to, why? Because some people still fully believe that all animals are; are commodities for human applications and things we can do whatever we wish with. When infact; they're not all that different to us and put us to shame in so many ways. These unfortunate poor foxes and other helpless creatures only crime is being born with a fur coat, and for that, they are locked away in an unbearably small cages, forced into un-natural and disturbing behaviours as a result, and are victims of disgusting living conditions which are not taken at all into consideration as fur farmer operators attitudes are :) "ahhh they're all gonna die anyway" "so what's the point" and are eventually horrifically killed for fashion items. So please take a hard look at this video and try to see it from their point of view, and imagine if you were one of them how you would feel? They're the innocent ...

End Tiger Trade Now
End Tiger Trade Now
More than 30 organisations, representing millions of people around the world, are calling upon the Chinese government to stand firm, to maintain its 14-year tiger trade ban, to close down tiger farms and to increase investment in stopping illegal tiger trade. Losing the wild tiger will be a shameful indictment on all of us. The success of our collective desire to save wild tigers depends on action. Tigers need the same kind of committed action that governments use when combating gunrunners and drug traffickers, for it is often the very same criminals that are smuggling tiger parts. Our lives are connected to the tiger, through culture, religion, and the ecosystems they live in that we depend upon. Don't close your eyes to what's happening. Ask your government ask China to make its tiger trade ban permanent. End tiger trade. The eyes of the world are watching.

Québec History 5 - The End of the Iroquois Wars
Québec History 5 - The End of the Iroquois Wars
Québec a Nation History (Part 5) The End of the Iroquois Wars The beaver wars, also called the Iroquois Wars or the French and Iroquois Wars, commonly refer to a brutal series of conflicts fought in the mid-17th century in eastern North America. Encouraged and armed by their Dutch and English trading partners, the Iroquois sought to expand their territory and monopolize the fur trade and the trade between European markets and the tribes of the western Great Lakes region. The conflict pitted the nations of the Iroquois Confederation, led by the dominant Mohawk, against the French. The Filles du roi or King's Daughters in English were between 800 and 900 Frenchwomen who immigrated to New France (now Québec) between 1663 and 1673 under the monetary sponsorship of Louis XIV, to marry and start families in an attempt to further populate New France. There exists an occasional misconception that many filles du roi were recruited from among the dregs of the population of Paris, and that many were prostitutes. This story, while untrue, comes about from the fact that a few Parisian prostitutes in the 17th century were arrested and transported to a penal colony in the Antilles islands.

How to Clean Skin a Beaver
How to Clean Skin a Beaver
Clean skinning is the art of removing a beaver pelt with very little fat or muscle clinging to the hide. It takes a lot of practice to achieve this result, and a lot of patience. Rough skinning (removing the skin + top fat/muscle layer) is a quicker process, but requires hard work later on the fleshing beam to remove the flesh with a 2-handed knife. Although it takes more time, learning to clean skin can ultimately save a fur harvester time and effort once proficiency is achieved. As a bonus, a clean-skinned beaver carcass is left with all muscles intact, allowing for effective butchering. Beaver meat is highly prized among trappers. Back straps and rear legs are good for eating, and the rest of the meat makes excellent bait for coyote, fox, bobcat, marten and other fur-bearers.

Earthlings (part 1/7)
Full playlist: www.youtube.com EARTHLINGS is an award-winning documentary film about the suffering of animals for food, fashion, pets, entertainment and medical research. Considered the most persuasive documentary ever made, EARTHLINGS is nicknamed "the Vegan maker" for its sensitive footage shot at animal shelters, pet stores, puppy mills, factory farms, slaughterhouses, the leather and fur trades, sporting events, circuses and research labs. The film is narrated by Academy Award® nominee Joaquin Phoenix and features music by platinum-selling recording artist Moby. Initially ignored by distributors, today EARTHLINGS is considered the definitive animal rights film by organizations around the world. "Of all the films I have ever made, this is the one that gets people talking the most," said Phoenix. "For every one person who sees EARTHLINGS, they will tell three." In 1999, writer/producer/director Shaun Monson began work on a series of PSAs about spaying and neutering pets. The footage he shot at animal shelters around Los Angeles affected him so profoundly that the project soon evolved into EARTHLINGS. The film would take another six years to complete because of the difficulty in obtaining footage within these profitable industries. Though the film was initially ignored by distributors, who told Monson that the film would "never see the light of day and should be swept under the rug," today EARTHLINGS is considered the definitive animal rights film by organizations around ...

Québec History 4 - The Fall of Huronia
Québec a Nation History (Part 4) The Fall of Huronia The beginning of the Iroquois Wars The story of the Jesuits in Huronia and the genocide of the Huron peoples by the Iroquois - Mohawks. The fall of Huronia enabled the Iroquois to concentrate their subsequent war efforts on the French settlements in the St. Lawrence Valley. The wars were extremely brutal and are considered one of the bloodiest series of conflicts in the history of North America. The resultant enlargement of Iroquois territory realigned the tribal geography of North America, destroying several large tribal confederacies including the Hurons, Neutrals, Eries, and Susquehannock and pushing some eastern tribes west of the Mississippi River. It was the beginning of the beaver wars, also called the Iroquois Wars or the French and Iroquois Wars, commonly refer to a brutal series of conflicts fought in the mid-17th century in eastern North America. It is during that war that occured the Battle of Long Sault and that Dollard des Ormeaux became a Hero.

Molson I am Canadian
Molson I am Canadian
Hey, I'm not a lumberjack, or a fur trader.... I don't live in an igloo or eat blubber, or own a dogsled.... and I don't know Jimmy, Sally or Suzy from Canada, although I'm certain they're really really nice. I have a Prime Minister, not a president. I speak English and French, not American. And I pronounce it 'about', not 'a boot'. I can proudly sew my country's flag on my backpack. I believe in peace keeping, not policing, diversity, not assimilation, and that the beaver is a truly proud and noble animal. A toque is a hat, a chesterfield is a couch, and it is pronounced 'zed' not 'zee', 'zed' !!!! Canada is the second largest landmass! The first nation of hockey! and the best part of North America My name is Joe!! And I am Canadian!!!
