Davis Brody Bond is a US architectural firm.

On April 13, 2004 the Lower Manhattan Development Corporation announced that Davis Brody Bond would serve as the associate architects to assist Michael Arad and Peter Walker with their design for Reflecting Absence, a planned memorial to the September 11, 2001 attacks at the World Trade Center site. The design of the Memorial Museum below the Plaza was later awarded to the firm, as well.

Headquartered in New York and with offices in Washington, DC; and São Paulo, Brazil; Davis Brody Bond is led by five partners: Steven M. Davis, William H. Paxson, Carl F. Krebs, Christopher K. Grabé, and David K. Williams.

Davis Brody Bond has been honored with more than 175 major design awards including the American Institute of Architects Firm Award, the highest honor given to an architectural practice as well as the 2000 Presidential Design Award for Excellence.

Among its commissions are the National September 11 Memorial Museum at the World Trade Center; the Smithsonian Institution's National Museum of African American History and Culture; the new Portico Gallery at The Frick Collection; a new infill building and restoration of the historic New York Public Library; the Ford Motor Company Engineering Design Center at Northwestern University; research facilities for Harvard University; industrial facilities in Central and South America for Valeo; the Data Processing and Administrative Center for the U.S. Census Bureau, and the master planning and design of a new university in Zimbabwe. In May of 2012, the Gustafson Guthrie Nichol and Davis Brody Bond team placed first in the National Mall Union Square Competition.

Brody (Ukrainian: Броди, Polish: Brody, Russian: Броды, Yiddish: בראָד, translit. Brod) is a city in the Lviv Oblast (province) of western Ukraine. It is the administrative center of the Brody Raion (district), and is located in the valley of the upper Styr River, approximately 90 kilometres northeast of the oblast capital, Lviv. As of 2004, its population is 23,239.

Brody is the junction of the Druzhba and Odessa-Brody oil pipelines.

The first mention of a settlement on the site of Brody is dated 1084 (Instructions by Volodymyr Monomach). It is believed to have been destroyed by Batu Khan in 1241.

From 1441 Brody was the property of different feudal families (Jan Sieniński, from 1511 - Kamieniecki).

Brody was granted Magdeburg rights and city status in 1546. At this time it was known under the name Lubicz (Любич, Polish: Lubicz) that gave name to the Lubicz Coat of Arms of the owner, Stanisław Żółkiewski (not to be confused with Lubech, Lubecz).

Since the 17th century, the city has been populated not only by Ukrainians and Poles, but also a significant number of Jews (70% of the town's population), Armenians, and Greeks .^{[citation needed]} From 1629, the city became the property of Stanisław Koniecpolski, who ordered the construction of Brody Castle (1630–1635). The castle, or rather the fortress, was designed by the French military engineer Guillaume Le Vasseur de Beauplan. In 1648, the castle took 8 weeks for Bohdan Khmelnytsky to capture it. Notably Jewish population was spared after the sack. The Jews of Brody were judged and "deemed as not engaged in maltreatment of the Ruthenians" and were only required to pay a tribute in "textiles and furs".

However, some immigrants from African, Caribbean, Central American or South American nations, or their descendants, may be identified or self-identify with the term.

African-American history starts in the 16th century with African slaves who quickly rose up against the Spanish explorer Lucas Vázquez de Ayllón and progresses to the present day, with Barack Obama as the 44th and current President of the United States. Between those landmarks there have been events and issues, both resolved and ongoing, including slavery, racism, Reconstruction, development of the African-American community, participation in the great military conflicts of the United States, racial segregation, and the Civil Rights Movement.

Frederic Schwartz (born 1951) is an American architect, author, and city planner whose work includes "Empty Sky," the New Jersey 9-11 Memorial, scheduled to be dedicated in Liberty State Park on September 11, 2011, the tenth anniversary of the September 11 attacks.

A recipient of the prestigious Rome Prize in Architecture, Schwartz -- "for his dedication to using architecture to heal New York" -- is included in the New York Hall of Fame, an organization created to "honor remarkable New Yorkers who have contributed to the betterment of the city" and who serve as "role models for children." He was honored by First Lady Laura Bush at the 2003 White House National Design Awards ceremony.

Schwartz was born in New York, where he continues to live and work. He once designed a community center about ten blocks away from the site in Jamaica, Queens, where he was born. He grew up in Plainview, where he watched the construction of new houses, one after the other, in what had been potato fields on the eastern edge of Nassau County--and it was there that he began to build his "first houses," using discarded refrigerator boxes.
