70 de ori -- Grupul Eliezer
Muzica crestina -- Romanian Christian music (70 times 7... this song is based on the Bible verses from Matthew 18:21-22 Then Peter came to Jesus and asked, "Lord, how many times shall I forgive my brother when he sins against me? Up to seven times?" Jesus answered, "I tell you, not seven times, but seventy-seven times.")

Heuristics and Biases, Skepticon 4 Eliezer Yudkowsky
Please subscribe. During filming, if a powerpoint slide is just a reiteration of what the speaker is saying, without any new information, I do not cut to it. If you are screaming, "What the fuck is on the projector!"... This is the answer. All Skepticon videos will be monetized this year with ads. 100% of the proceeds with be used to purchase micro-loans through Kiva.org. I know the ads are annoying, but there is no reason to not use the money for a good cause.

Eliezer Yudkowsky - Introducing the "Singularity": Three Major Schools of Thought (1/4)
Eliezer Yudkowsky is one of the worlds foremost researchers on Friendly AI and recursive self-improvement. He created the Friendly AI approach to AGI, which emphasizes the importance of the structure of an ethical optimization process and its supergoal, in contrast to the common trend of seeking the right fixed enumeration of ethical rules a moral agent should follow. At the 2007 Singularity Summit, he introduced three schools of thought currently associated with the word Singularity, their core arguments and bolder conjectures, while noting where they support or contradict each other. Holocaust Survivor Testimony: Eliezer Ayalon
Eliezer (Lazer) Ayalon was born in Radom, Poland, in 1928. His parents, Rebecca-Leah and Israel Herszenfis, were observant Jews and Zionists. In the 1930s, the family tried to get immigrant visas to Mandatory Palestine, but failed. In April 1941, Eliezer and his family were incarcerated in the Radom ghetto. Eliezer lied about his age and was given work and residence in a German clothing warehouse outside the ghetto. He used to sing at work, and his employers liked his singing so much that he was asked to sing on their birthdays in exchange for sweets. In August 1942, the ghetto was sealed. Though anyone with a work permit could have left, Eliezer refused to part from his family. His family members spent two whole hours begging him to save himself. Finally, his mother said: If there is anyone in the family with a chance to stay alive its you. Azoy ist Beshert [This was meant to be]. May you have a sweet life. She accompanied him to the gate with a cup of honey. Eliezer was transferred to the Blizyn camp near Kielce, where he worked as a shoemaker. His mother, father, sister and two brothers were all murdered at Treblinka. In the spring of 1944, Eliezer was moved to Plaszow, and then to Mauthausen and Melk in Austria. In April 1945 he was sent on a death march. Despite a previously broken leg, he made it to Ebensee. On 6 May 1945, the camp was liberated by American forces. Soldiers from the Jewish Brigade took us from hell and prepared us for aliyah. I remember the joy, the ...

Holocaust Survivor Testimony: Eliezer Lev-Zion
Eliezer Lev-Zion was born in 1927 in Berlin, Germany, as Oskar-Eliezer Lewinsohn. His father, Nathan, was a journalist, and his mother, Franscheska, a doctor who managed a Jewish orphanage. A month after the Nazis came to power, Oskar's father was arrested and disappeared. Heavily pregnant, Franscheska fled to France together with Eliezer, settling in Lyon. A month later, Eliezer's brother Marcel Gideon was born. In the winter of 1939/1940, the three family members were taken to a detention camp in Ardèche. Eliezer was released four months later, and that summer joined a Jewish religious scouts group, which instilled in him a love of a Zionism and agriculture. In November 1942, the Germans occupied southern France, and Eliezer was arrested for holding counterfeit identification documents. After his release, he joined the Jewish underground. He was sent by Father Alexandre Glasberg, head of a refugee organization, to smuggle children out of a French detention camp. Eliezer would meet up with Father Glasberg, who handed children to him over the barbed wire, and then take them on his bicycle to a hiding place. In this way, he helped save 36 children. Father Glasberg was later honored as Righteous Among the Nations. For three and a half years, Eliezer wandered from place to place. Traveling to a town near Montauban, he registered with the city council as an Alsacian, and started working in carpentry. Soon, he was recruited as a translator by the SS. He transferred the ...

Eliezer Yudkowsky - The Challenge of Friendly AI (1/3)
At the 2007 Singularity Summit, Yudkowsky described how shaping a very powerful and general AI implies a different challenge, of greater moral and ethical depth, than programming a special-purpose domain-specific AI. The danger of trying to impose our own values, eternally unchanged, upon the future, can be seen through the thought experiment of imagining the ancient Greeks trying to do the same. Human civilizations over centuries, and individual human beings over their own lifespans, directionally change their moral values. Eliezer Yudkowsky has two papers forthcoming in the edited volume Global Catastrophic Risks (Oxford, 2007), Cognitive Biases Potentially Affecting Judgment of Global Risks and Artificial Intelligence as a Positive and Negative Factor in Global Risk. Rabbi Eliezer ben Yaacov
From Emuna Outreach's "Land of Israel" series, we go to the Upper Galilee to a village that dates back to the time of the Second Holy Temple, Kfar Chanania. Here is the burial cave of the holy Tanna (Mishnaic sage) Rabbi Eliezer Ben Yaacov. Rabbi Lazer Brody tells a beautiful story from the Yerushalmi Talmud (Peah 37b) about the very special way that Rabbi Eliezer Ben Yaacov would help the poor without embarrassing them.

Eliezer S. Yudkowsky* wrote about an experiment which had to do with Artificial Inteligence. In a near future, man will have given birth to machines that are able to rewrite their codes, to improve themselves, and, why not, to dispense with them. This idea sounded a little bit distant to some critic voices, so an experiment was to be done: keep the AI sealed in a box from which it could not get out except by one mean: convincing a human guardian to let it out.
What if, as Yudkowsky states, ‘Humans are not secure’? Could we chess match our best creation to grant our own survival? Would man be humble enough to accept he was superseded, to look for primitive ways to find himself back, to cure himself from a disease that’s on his own genes? How to capture a force we voluntarily set free? What if mankind worst enemy were humans?
In a near future, we will cease to be the dominant race.
In a near future, we will learn to fear what is to come.
