Before taking up this role Mackenzie appeared on the BBC World Service for a number of years, and also presented several programmes on classical music, such as the BBC Proms from the Royal Albert Hall. Mackenzie is also an occasional visiting lecturer at the University of Westminster.

James Coomarasamy is a British presenter on BBC World Service programme Newshour. Before joining Newshour in 2010, Coomarasamy spent a year presenting the now defunct strand Europe Today. Prior to moving behind the microphone he had been a BBC correspondent in Warsaw, followed by Paris then Washington, D.C. before returning to Europe.

Coomarasamy was born in London to parents of Sri Lankan Tamil heritage.

Coomarasamy was educated at Christ's Hospital School, an independent school for boys (now co-educational), near Horsham, West Sussex, followed by the University of Cambridge, where he studied Modern and Medieval Languages. He is fluent in French, and speaks some Russian and Polish. ^[1]

Coomarasamy began his career at the BBC in the following sequence:

• 1991 hired as production assistant in the BBC Moscow bureau, after which he freelanced in Moscow as a reporter / producer.
• Later on assigned as a producer for the BBC World in London.
• December 1994 he returned to Moscow as the bureau’s bi-media producer covering major stories like the war in Chechnya.
• November 1997 he moved to Warsaw to work as the local BBC correspondent covering events in Poland, the Baltics and Ukraine.
• From 1999 to 2003, Coomarasamy was the BBC’s Paris Reporter, covering news in the region for both radio and television outlets.
• From February 2005, he was the BBC's correspondent in Washington D.C., reporting on news stories from across the United States and North America.
• In 2009 Coomarasamy presented Europe Today for the BBC World Service.
• In 2010 Coomarasamy joined the presentation team for Newshour on the BBC World Service.

Martine Dennis is a BBC news anchor. She has been one of the main news presenters of the BBC World News for many years.

Early life and education[link]

Martine Dennis was born on 29 January 1961 in London to Caribbean/Mauritian parents.She studied English and American Studies from 1979-82 at Keele University in England.

Broadcasting career[link]

Martine started her broadcasting career as a graduate trainee at LBC/IRN in London in 1983.There she did parliamentary reporting and made radio documentaries notably Zimbabwe - Five Years after Independence documentary.Also she covered the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting, Nassau, the Bahamas in 1985 interviewing Rajiv Gandhi, Mrs Thatcher and Edward Seaga.

Later she joined BBC World Service Radio at the United Nations, New York in 1985, covering the Iran and Iraq war and interviewing many world leaders.

In 1987 she became a presenter-producer for Focus on Africa, the BBC African Service, based at Bush House in London and in 1989 Martine became a presenter, reporter and producer at Sky News, London. She was an overnight news presenter until 1991 when she went to South Africa. In South Africa she freelanced for BBC World Service, covering South Africa's first democratic election.

In 1994 she became the presenter of Carte Blanche, South Africa's top weekly current affairs feature programme. In 1995, Martine returned to London to work on current affairs programmes, including Correspondent.

When Martine Dennis came back from South Africa in 1995, she worked briefly as a correspondent for BBC1’s Here and Now weekly programme. Later she became a main presenter of BBC World News and has been there ever since. She presented the first edition of The World Today with Tanya Beckett when it was launched in September 2001. She has been the main presenter of The World Today (BBC News at 0500 GMT) since then (as of 2011). She also fronts BBC World News on various time slots. During her long broadcasting career she has presented a wide range of stories.

Adam Parsons (born July 15, 1970 in London) is an English television and radio presenter, working mainly for the BBC.

Previously he was a Sports Correspondent for BBC News, appearing regularly on BBC One, BBC Radio and BBC News, the BBC's 24 hour rolling news channel. Since 2007 he was also a regular relief presenter on the channel. He used to regularly co-present Your News, shown on the BBC News Channel at the weekends. His other work for the BBC included a special report for Panorama, the BBC's current affairs programme,^[1] and he was also a familiar voice across BBC Radio. Whilst the 2012 Olympic bids were taking place Parsons worked as the BBC's Olympic bid specialist^[2]

Before joining the BBC in May 2001, he launched the sports section of the Sunday Business newspaper, and was the paper's Sports Editor, becoming the youngest Sports Editor of a British national newspaper. He was previously Motor Racing Correspondent of The Sunday Times and has written widely about Formula One.

He went to Haberdashers' Aske's School in Elstree, and studied Modern History at St Anne's College, Oxford. Parsons started his career at the Watford Observer newspaper.

He was nominated for the Sports News Reporter award at the Royal Television Society Sports Awards in 2003, though the award eventually went to Channel 4's Sue Turton.^[3]

During his time at the BBC, Parsons reported on every major sporting event, including the football World Cup, the Olympics, Formula One, Ashes Cricket and England's triumph in the 2003 Rugby World Cup.

He left the BBC in 2009 to take over as the Director of Communications and Public Affairs at the British Olympic Association. During this period, Parsons served as Team GB's press attache at the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver. He later had a spell as Director of Communications for Travelodge, one of Britain's biggest hotel companies.

In 2011, Parsons returned to the BBC as a presenter on the BBC News Channel and on BBC World News. He has presented programmes on Radio Five Live and also presented the business news on the BBC News Channel.

He has written two books on Motor Racing - F1: Through the Eyes of Damon Hill, and Five Days of a Grand Prix

Kirsty Lang (born 1962) is a British journalist and broadcaster working for the BBC. She has also been a visiting professor at Columbia University in New York. Lang was raised in various parts of the world; her family were evacuated from Nigeria at the time of the Biafran war in 1967.

Lang was educated at a number of private schools in various countries including Nishimachi International School in Tokyo, Lauriston Girls' School in Melbourne, Dartington Hall School in Devon, England and the International School of Geneva. She first joined the BBC as a graduate trainee in 1986, having gained an MA in Journalism from City University, London^[1] following a degree in International Relations and an MSc in Government and Politics from the London School of Economics. In 1989 she became a Central European correspondent for the World Service and later a reporter on the BBCs Newsnight.

After a spell as Paris correspondent for The Sunday Times, she became a co-presenter/reporter for Channel 4 News (1998-2002). She returned to the BBC when the digital channel BBC Four was established in 2002 and has presented The World, an evening news programme (now replaced by World News Today).

Lang is a regular presenter of a nightly arts and culture programme Radio Four's Front Row and has also been a stand-in anchor for The World Tonight and other programmes.

Lang also contributes, on occasion, to various publications including The Times, The Guardian and The Radio Times, and was chair of the Orange Prize for Fiction in 2008.

From January to April 2012, Lang was a visiting professor at Columbia University, New York in the School of International and Public Affairs
