Family Tree - Tv on the Radio
This song reminds me of the end of the book "The Outliers: a history of success" by Malcom Gladwell. "... How many more would live a life of fullfillment in a beautiful house high on a hill" I find it hauntingly beautiful. And you get it better with having a personal/family history of pain, trauma. How the stories repeat themselves generation after generation, because of parenting style, is product of what the parent experienced as a child neglect, violence or abuse. and part of the healing process might be going away from the family, or going beyond blaming the parents and understanding that on a level it was not their fault. This song for me is about, healing facing and overcoming, escaping the circle of pain. Like the cycle stops with us, we will not pass this to our children, and won't nurture the seeds of evil. Also you might get out of it, but it doesn't fully get out of you. and at some point one goes back and faces it Notice the first lines of the song The construction of the song is amazing. raven hair mama, then silver hair mama pumping blood to keep it you, pumping blood to keep us young. And then it goes "in the shadow of the valley of your family tree" I think its a reference to Psalm 23, when it says "Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me" Here are the lyrics The Family Tree Artist: Tv on the Radio Album: Dear Science Under my love Wake up to your window <b>...</b>

THE FAMILY TREE - Green Band Movie Trailer
Now Available on DVD & Blu-ray: www.amazon.com www.thefamilytreemovie.com http twitter.com Life in suburban Serenity, Ohio is never quite as serene as it appears. The dysfunctional Burnett family - Bunnie (Hope Davis), Jack (Dermot Mulroney) and their twin 17 year olds Eric (Max Thieriot) and Kelly (Brittany Robertson) - seems like a lost cause. When a freak accident leaves Bunnie with a case of amnesia, the Burnetts get an unexpected second chance at happiness. Meanwhile, next door neighbor Simon (Chi McBride) is relieved that his tryst gone wrong with Bunnie remains undetected, at least for the moment. Before long, a slew of past relationships, kids with guns, a suicidal teacher, a very zealous religious club, misinterpreted advances, corporate down-sizing, and one fateful squirrel combine to create enough mayhem to test the resolve, sanity and future of any family!

Megadeth - Family Tree Lyrics: Forgotten things remembered The tigers eat their young The body stayed but inside the head The mind was on the run A conspiracy of silence The only way out of pain Is turn around, run through it man Too wet to come in from the rain, Tell them... I know they were doing it to you But don't try doing it to me Let me show you, how I love you It's our secret, you and me But keep it in the family tree The secret of the family tree When you hear them saying "trust me" Don't wait to see what's next Thrown to the wolves Forever trusting Raised in a form of living hell Sing a one note song of rage Live and die within your heart So beware in the shadows Your family tree waits in the dark I say...

This whole project has been an amazing experience. The two of us became friends through Vimeo and explored a shared interest in timelapsing Yosemite National Park over an extended period of time. We'd like to expand this idea to other locations and would appreciate any suggestions for a future project.
Project Yosemite was featured as a main story on Yosemite National Park's Spring Newsletter.: http://www.yosemitepark.com/timelapse-sprnews-2012.aspx

INSPIRATION:
The Imaginary Foundation says "To Understand Is To Perceive Patterns"...
Albert-László Barabási, author of LINKED, wants you to think about NETWORKS:
“Networks are everywhere. The brain is a network of nerve cells connected by axons, and cells themselves are networks of molecules connected by biochemical reactions. Societies, too, are networks of people linked by friendships, familial relationships and professional ties. On a larger scale, food webs and ecosystems can be represented as networks of species. And networks pervade technology: the Internet, power grids and transportation systems are but a few examples. Even the language we are using to convey these thoughts to you is a network, made up of words connected by syntactic relationships.”
'For decades, we assumed that the components of such complex systems as the cell, the society, or the Internet are randomly wired together. In the past decade, an avalanche of research has shown that many real networks, independent of their age, function, and scope, converge to similar architectures, a universality that allowed researchers from different disciplines to embrace network theory as a common paradigm.'
Steven Johnson, author of Where Good Ideas Come From, writes about recurring patterns and liquid networks:
“Coral reefs are sometimes called “the cities of the sea”, and part of the argument is that we need to take the metaphor seriously: the reef ecosystem is so innovative because it shares some defining characteristics with actual cities. These patterns of innovation and creativity are fractal: they reappear in recognizable form as you zoom in and out, from molecule to neuron to pixel to sidewalk. Whether you’re looking at original innovations of carbon-based life, or the explosion of news tools on the web, the same shapes keep turning up... when life gets creative, it has a tendency to gravitate toward certain recurring patterns, whether those patterns are self-organizing, or whether they are deliberately crafted by human agents”
Patrick Pittman from Dumbo Feather adds:
“Put simply: cities are like ant colonies are like software is like slime molds are like evolution is like disease is like sewage systems are like poetry is like the neural pathways in our brain. Everything is connected.
"...Johnson uses ‘The Long Zoom’ to define the way he looks at the world—if you concentrate on any one level, there are patterns that you miss. When you step back and simultaneously consider, say, the sentience of a slime mold, the cultural life of downtown Manhattan and the behavior of artificially intelligent computer code, new patterns emerge.”
James Gleick, author of THE INFORMATION, has written how the cells of an organism are nodes in a richly interwoven communications network, transmitting and receiving, coding and decoding and how Evolution itself embodies an ongoing exchange of information between organism and environment.. (Its an ECO-SYSTEM, an EVOLVING NETWORK)
“If you want to understand life,” Wrote Richard Dawkins, “don’t think about vibrant, throbbing gels and oozes, think about information technology." (AND THINK ABOUT NETWORKS!!
Geoffrey West, from The Santa Fe Institute, also believes in the pivotal role of NETWORKS:
"...Network systems can sustain life at all scales, whether intracellularly or within you and me or in ecosystems or within a city.... If you have a million citizens in a city or if you have 1014 cells in your body, they have to be networked together in some optimal way for that system to function, to adapt, to grow, to mitigate, and to be long term resilient."
Author Paul Stammetts writes about The Mycelial Archetype: He compares the mushroom mycelium with the overlapping information-sharing systems that comprise the Internet, with the networked neurons in the brain, and with a computer model of dark matter in the universe. All share this densely intertwingled filamental structure.
An article in Reality Sandwich called Google a psychedelically informed superpowered network, a manifestation of the mycelial archetype:
“Recognizing this super-connectivity and conductivity is often accompanied by blissful mindbody states and the cognitive ecstasy of multiple "aha's!" when the patterns in the mycelium are revealed. That Googling that has become a prime noetic technology (How can we recognize a pattern and connect more and more, faster and faster?: superconnectivity and superconductivity) mirrors the increased speed of connection of thought-forms from cannabis highs on up. The whole process is driven by desire not only for these blissful states in and of themselves, but also as the cognitive resource they represent. The devices of

The Kidds
This wedding was one of the most anticipated weddings in the industry. For those of you who know Brandon and Kristin, your a better person because of their kind, positive personalities and friendship. These two are one of the most bubbly, most helpful, and Christlike people you will ever meet. They truly express their beliefs through their day to day actions. Not only are they just amazing people, but they are radical photogs.
As for those of you who live here in So Cal, we witnessed some of the most drenching rain we’ve had in years. After a 4 days of down pour and with just hours to go before the wedding and a complete outdoors ceremony and reception planned, the forecast was not leaning in the Kidd’s favor. But as Sat Morning came, the clouds moved on and the sun beamed making the conditions truly stunning and perfect for this special occasion. Because the weather put such a stress on them and their family, we saw it fitting to begin the day a little earlier and document them preparing the site for the moment Brandon and Kristin had been waited for. Their wedding was a celebration of love and friendship and of faith in God. We shared the day with Jasmine Starr and JD, Eva Chiou, Dj Taso, Roger and Lyndzee Ellsworth, and last but not least Jillian and Tony.
We have a little disclaimer also… We did not have Brandon and Kristin reenact their proposal. Brandon is such a guy, that he planned out the whole proposal and had two friends hidden capturing the entire thing as it took place. Even better he kept the taping a secret and it was revealed to Kristin for the first time as they viewed the film at the wedding. The look on her face as she realized that he had done this was simply sweet.
Enjoy!

#1 Skier Dad
On a perfect sunny day up on Blackcomb mountain, some of the FT crew were faced with a small confrontation. luckily for the crew a brave snowboarder man called berto was able to resolve the situation without using violence. The composure, leading example, and mannerism's of these two father figures has now given me no hope for the future. WTF.

MLTR - Family Tree From the album Eternity Lyric: I'm gonna be the owner of the world for a little while And it feels like I am flying (I am flying) Everybody's waving in the crowd to get a smile But they never saw me crying ( saw me crying) Even when we dance close the floor And everyone's calling out for more Someone in your heart you feel alone Hold my hand tonight And show me what is right Make my life complete below the family tree Take away my fear And tell me you'll be there We'll always be together I'll always know you care Everybody's talking right behind my back And I don't care what people're thinking But in a little corner of my mind it's getting tough When the moving lights are twinkling Even when we dance close the floor And everyone's calling out for more Someone in your heart you feel alone Hold my hand tonight And show me what is right Make my life complete below the family tree Take away my fear And tell me you'll be there We'll always stay together I'll always know you care When the heavy come falls I know where I belong I could never walk away from you(from you) When the everyday life calls I'm gonna sing a song Yeah~ Hold my hand tonight And show me what is right Make my life complete below the family tree Take away my fear And tell me you'll be there We'll always stay together I'll always know you care We'll always be together I'll always know you care
