Bobby Layne, wearing number 33 (he wore number 22 only during his senior year) was a one man wrecking crew in the 1946 Cotton Bowl playing for The University of Texas. Layne ran for 3 touchdowns, threw for two and was on the receiving end of a touchdown pass as well as kicking 4 extra points in Texas' 40 to 27 win over Missouri. In second period drive Lions Pat Harder gains through center, Doak Walker throws NG pass, Bobby Layne passes complete to Bill Swiaacki, Bobby Layne scores touchdown. In third period Doak Walker goes 67 yards for touchdown. In third period Brown drive Graham passes complete to Horace Gillom, Graham passes complete to Ray Renfro, Graham tries to pass but runs around end instead, Harry Jagade scores only Brown touchdown.
