The Wisdom of Victor Hugo
Victor-Marie Hugo (26 February 1802 -- 22 May 1885) was a French poet, playwright, novelist, essayist, visual artist, statesman, human rights activist and exponent of the Romantic movement in France. In France, Hugo's literary fame comes first from his poetry but also rests upon his novels and his dramatic achievements. Among many volumes of poetry, Les Contemplations and La Légende des siècles stand particularly high in critical esteem, and Hugo is sometimes identified as the greatest French poet. Outside France, his best-known works are the novels Les Misérables and Notre-Dame de Paris (known in English also as The Hunchback of Notre-Dame).

Saint-Saens - Hymne à Victor Hugo - Organ at St Ouen, Rouen - Gerard Brooks
Saint-Saëns was an avid admirer of the author Victor Hugo. This piece, originally for orchestra (including eight harps), organ and choir, shows the extent of his veneration. It was performed in the Trocadero palace in the presence of Victor Hugo himself and became much appreciated. Gerard Brooks is playing the Cavaillé-Coll organ in the Abbaye Saint-Ouen de Rouen, Normandy, France. Not much else to say than that this is as close to perfection you can get. Listen to the registrations, from the clever harp effect in the beginning through the gradual build up to full organ. In St. Ouen, full organ is indeed full!

Maradona Goal of the Century - Víctor Hugo Morales commentary - Argentina-England 2-1 1986
The legendary commentary by Victor Hugo Morales of the Maradona's Goal of the Century, which exemplifies its characteristic style. From the broadcast for an argentinian radio, the uruguayan commentator described with so much emotion the second goal by Diego Maradona, that for many Argentines this commentary is intimately linked to that goal, that game, that day and the Mexico 86 world cup. Víctor Hugo Morales is an uruguayan journalist, sports correspondent, commentator, conductor and writer. He's an example and a permanent reference in sport journalism, because he owns all of the requirements to achieve excellence: an incomparable voice, good presence, excellent diction, and an incomparable management of the Spanish language. Besides its endless talent, he made memorable phrases which remained in the collective slang: "tatatata", "no quieran saber, no le pregunten a nadie...", "barrilete cósmico", "balas que pican cerca... la manzana está rodeada" and many others.

Victor Hugo´s LES MISERABLES
LES MISERABLES Come to Me (Fantine's Death) Scene: Fantine & Valjean [FANTINE] Cosette, it's turned so cold Cosette, it's past your bedtime You've played the day away And soon it will be night. Come to me, Cosette, the light is fading Don't you see the evening star appearing? Come to me, and rest against my shoulder How fast the minutes fly away and every minute colder. Hurry near, another day is dying Don't you hear, the winter wind is crying? There's a darkness which comes without a warning But I will sing you lullabies and wake you in the morning. [VALJEAN] Oh, Fantine, our time is running out But Fantine, I swear this on my life [FANTINE] Look, M'sieur, where all the children play [VALJEAN] Be at peace, be at peace evermore. [FANTINE] My Cosette... [VALJEAN] Shall live in my protection [FANTINE] Take her now [VALJEAN] Your child will want for nothing [FANTINE] Good M'sieur, you come from God in Heaven. [VALJEAN] And none will ever harm Cosette As long as I am living. [FANTINE] Take my hand. The night grows ever colder. [VALJEAN] Then I will keep you warm. [FANTINE] Take my child. I give her to your keeping. [VALJEAN] Take shelter from the storm [FANTINE] For God's sake, please stay till I am sleeping And tell Cosette I love her And I'll see her when I wake...

Victor Hugo "Au bord de la mer" - "At the Seaside" Poem animation French
Heres a virtual movie of the great French poet Victor Hugo reading one his iconic poems "Au bord de la mer" - "At the Seaside" Les Chants du crépuscule ( Songs of the Twilight) Written in 1835 Victor-Marie Hugo (26 February 1802 22 May 1885) was a French poet, playwright, novelist, essayist, visual artist, statesman, human rights activist and exponent of the Romantic movement in France. He was the third and last son of Joseph Léopold Sigisbert Hugo (17731828) and Sophie Trébuchet (1772-1821); his brothers were Abel Joseph Hugo (17981855) and Eugène Hugo (18001837). He was born in 1802 in Besançon (in the region of Franche-Comté) and lived in France for the majority of his life. However, he was forced into exile during the reign of Napoleon III — he lived briefly in Brussels during 1851; in Jersey from 1852 to 1855; and in Guernsey from 1855 to 1870 and again in 1872-1873. There was a general amnesty in 1859; after that, his exile was by choice. Kind Regards Jim Clark All rights are reserved on this video recording copyright Jim Clark 2011
