The Role of the Business Analyst
Get free access to research at bit.ly Requirements management is a critical stage within each IT project. Helping the business articulate their needs and wants, capturing the information and translating it into language that both the business and IT can understand is difficult. A salient clip from one of my favorite James Coburn films: "The President's Analyst." www.imdb.com It's important to understand that this forty year old movie presaged many things which have come to pass. Finally available on DVD, I consider this clip to be little more than an advertisement for a fine classic film. ;)

hair-whip heartbreak
Naomi is 16, and works with us at photography factory when she is off school pretty much as an equal member. Lets be honest age is irrelevant in a great picture, plus she has a sense of the social media space to rival the best new media agency analysts. All the newest trends are always playing out as only she predicts. Her detailed clear and analysis of youth culture on the internet is worth a million dollars to us and she is a key member of our team. More importantly her simple black and white photographic portraits are utterly brilliant, an evocation of sub suburban teenage life as seen though the eyes of a 15 (now 16) year old girl. But on the day of this slow motion test Naomi was not her normal beautiful smiling dry sarcastic self (think Juno with a camera). Recently she had a relationship with a Hollister lookalike boy end in an unfair way (what was ever fair about being 16?) and have to get it all dragged around the internet as the aftermath played out on FaceBook in a very modern and very public way. So in other words she was putting on a brave face. We all involved setting up the high speed camera and needed someone to stand in as a lighting dummy, When shooter one had the idea to getting someone to shake their hair around... and see how it might look at 2000 fps. Naomi stepped up to the plate and quite shocked us by the force and passion she used to whip. The beguiling result is here... if you look at here closely you can see something else:
Something about that action and the air swishing though her hair just seemed to change her mood, as if she had just tossed away the weight of an the old nightmare, something thick and heavy that had been clinging to her, but suddenly it was gone. As she was hair whipping for the camera, shooter one quietly said to himself:
"Go girl, shake that boy right out of your hair..."

Percebeiros (Sea Bites) 1920x1080
http://www.enpiedeguerra.tv/percebeiros/

His work there made him a finalist for the Bayeux-Calvados, the most pres- tigious international award for war correspon- dents. He has interviewed the Taliban command- ers who killed Spanish soldiers, met with the twelve-year-old hitmen that Colombian druglords exploit as child soldiers, and even accompanied the American Army on some of their most danger- ous military operations in Iraq and Afghanistan. His latest TV documentary took him to Eastern Congo, where he covered the conflict between the Congolese Army and the rebels who fight, kill and rape in order to gain the control of the Coltan and Cassiterite mines.
During his time at Sea Bites, Beriain was in charge of producing the story and coordinating all the members in the team. He was the one who convinced everyone to get on board and as a true leader, he turned a group of people who did not know each other into a real team.

Fenway HD Camera - Sony HDC-910 - Canon 75x
Check out more from Fenway Park here: http://www.tomguilmette.com/wp/my-blog/archives/2794
I shoot the Red Sox for a living in HD. I enjoy working with expensive and state-of-the-art television equipment.
A few people emailed me recently and asked me if I could shoot a video blog of my very expensive HD camera that I use to shoot for the networks at Fenway Park. Well, here you go!
I use a Sony HDC-910 camera head with a 75x (9.5mm to 700mm zoom 1:1.7) Canon HD lens with an optical image stabilizer. The camera head new has a retail price of $94,700.00 and that does not include the viewfinder or the lens! The lens is almost as much! The camera is mounted to a large fluid head on Miller sticks. The fluid head is the Vinten Vector 70 and I would ague that this is the best hard camera pan head ever made.
I brought my PMW-EX1 to work today and during my lunch break, I shot a quick video explaining the camera the best I could. I had a million other things I had to do that day. I did not spend much time on this, but this short little film should answer the questions I was asked.
Keep watching until the end. I got a shot of the moon rising over the right field seats and I think you will like it. I shot this during the game a few days ago and TV color analyst Jerry Remy even stated that it was “the best shot he has ever seen on NESN” (New England Sports Network). Now keep in mind, this shot had nothing to do with baseball or sports for that matter. Go figure.
I see shots like this on the Discovery channel all the time!
The moon shot I added to this video was off a dvd copy of the clip. In crappy standard def. I up-converted it to 720p in Final Cut. I did not have a chance to get a HD version yet.
Email me any questions. My website is http://www.tomguilmette.com

Kung-Fu Analyst Reggie Middleton Karate Chops the Troika's Numerical Farce in the Face!
Follow us @ twitter.com twitter.com The EU catches on that the Eurozone is facing recession while greece is still the gum on everyone's shoe. The European Commision in its latest projections forecasts a 0.3 percent contraction with Greece leading the way...but it now expects countries such as spain and italy to contract too - which is different from its last forecasts. But Greece is still the whipping boy for the northern europeans and the press in general. With Greece's parliament approving the bond swap, some people say that this won't be enough, that we need a full default. Just look at Greece's GDP numbers, its unemployment numbers, its industrial output and its household and corporate credit...its all off the charts...falling off the charts that is. So why are the projections so rosy, like those in the TROIKA's debt sustainability document that we broke down earlier this week, something that our next guest knows about all to well - he kicks the crap out of mainstream analysis for a living. He has been warning that Greece is headed towards default for two years now, and for anyone billing this latest Greek deal as a "solution," Kung--Fu analyst Reggie Middleton is here to Karate--chop the accounting shenanigans masking the real story. He's here to tell us why more than default, the word of the day on everyone's mind should be CONTAGION. Why? Well, lots of reasons, one of which his the human nature reality, as Reggie Middleton puts it, that once Greece defaults and ...
