Seymour Duncan Pickups - Metal (Blackout, Invader, Full Shred, Duncan Distortion etc.)
www.olaenglund.com http So as you probably noticed in a earlier post I received a package from Seymour Duncan containing a lot of pickups to test. So of course that gave me an idea of comparing them all in a metal test! I'm using the Ola 5 second squirt Axe Fx 2 preset for all the clips just changing the pickup (and the guitar). You can download the Axe Fx 2 preset : www.feared.se SIgnal chain: Guitar - SD pickup - Axe Fx2 With backing track: Blackout 8 - 0:07 Dimebucker - 0:32 Duncan Distortion Trembucker - 0:56 Alternative 8 Trembucker - 1:19 Invader - 1:43 Full Shred - 2:07 Duncan Distortion - 2:31 Only Guitars: Blackout 8 - 2:59 Dimebucker - 3:22 Duncan Distortion Trembucker - 3:46 Alternative 8 Trembucker - 4:11 Invader - 4:35 Full Shred - 4:58 Duncan Distortion - 5:23

EMG vs. Seymour Duncan - Active vs. Passive Pickups - Part 1 of 3
I hope you enjoy my EMG vs. Seymour Duncan pickup comparison. If you think my videos are helpful, consider making a small donation through my website: www.dmometalguitar.com. This is the first chapter of my comparison between active EMGs and passive Seymour Duncans. I'm using these guitars . ESP M-II (Japan) with active EMG 81 pickups (bridge and neck). . Jackson King V KV2 (USA) with passive JB TB-4 (bridge) and JB SH-4 (neck) Seymour Duncan pickups. To make sure we have an accurate comparison, my Jackson King V and ESP M-II have similar specs and setup: 1. Both have alder body and maple neck. 2. Both have the original Floyd Rose made by Schaller. 3. Both are equipped with Ernie Ball strings. 4. I'm playing both with a Line 6 Spider amp using the "Insane" distortion and clean mode. No noise gate or pedals. In this first chapter, I compare the sound of the bridge pickups playing rhythms, riffs, solos and clean parts.

Seymour Duncan Pickup Booster SFX-01
www.ProGuitarShop.com-The Seymour Duncan Pickup Booster is the first pedal designed to work specifically with your pickups. This dynamic little boost pedal gives you up to 25db of gain as well as a resonance switch. This switch gives you three options...1-resonance is shifted down 2-3kHz. 2-Resonance is shifted down 3-5Khz. 0-Resonance is not affected. This switch is designed for use with single coil pickups. Position 1 makes them sound and respond like vintage humbuckers, position 2 makes them sound like modern, high gain humbuckers. Position 0 is a totally neutral, transparent clean boost designed for boosting your amp or your signal in a long effects chain. The Seymour Duncan Pickup Booster could possibly be the ultimate boost pedal. When switched to "1" and engaged, it makes a Strat sound like an old SG. Thick and rich like milk chocolate. When switched to "2", your single coils take on the tone of a modern humbucker with ceramic magnets. When in the neutral position, the Pickup Booster is totally transparent and retains your true signal. In this mode the Pickup Booster is ideal for pushing the front end of your tube amp or overdrive pedal. The Seymour Duncan Pickup Booster is probably the most useful pedal you could have on your pedalboard.

Gus G FIRE Blackouts System from Seymour Duncan
Created for Gus G., the electrifying young virtuoso just off the road with Ozzy Osbourne, the Gus G. FIRE Blackouts System includes a pair of traditional-looking humbucking pickups and a low-noise, high-output dual active preamp. Now hard rock and metal guitarists can get the explosive power they demand without sacrificing the expressive, hair-trigger response of a great passive pickup. It's the most organic-sounding active pickup system ever. Find a store near you: www.seymourduncan.com

Seymour Duncan 35
Andy here, and this rare and unique instrument is the Seymour Duncan 35, a limited edition, hand-built gem created in honor of Seymour Duncan's 35th Anniversary. The 35 is a collaboration between Duncan and the skilled builders at Larrivee, and has its roots in the legendary "TeleGib" built by Seymour for Jeff Beck and used on the classic Blow By Blow album. The one-piece, hand-selected Swamp Ash body and fiber core phenolic pickguard are crafted from direct traces of vintage 50's Fender examples, but the traditional elements end there. The Seymour Duncan 35 comes with Duncan's Liberator Quick Pickup Change System and two sets of humbuckers; a set of Custom Shop JB & Jazz "Concept" pickups, and a set of premium Zephyr Silver pickups. Hardware is the finest available, with a Gibson style tune-o-matic bridge and tailpiece by Callaham and TonePros, respectively, and hand-engraved custom tuners by Kluson. The neck is one solid piece of quartersawn rock maple, featuring Tahitian Black Pearl fretboard inlays, 6105 nickel-silver frets, and a 1 3/4 inch wide nut carved from 35000-year-old fossilized mastodon ivory. We did not make that up. The Seymour Duncan 35's production is limited to 35 guitars only, and its spare-no-expenses build quality and deep historical connection are sure to make it a one-of-a-kind addition to any guitar collection. proguitarshop.com

EMG vs. Seymour Duncan - Active vs. Passive Pickups - Part 2 of 3
I hope you enjoy my EMG vs. Seymour Duncan pickup comparison. If you think my videos are helpful, consider making a small donation through my website: www.dmometalguitar.com. This is the second chapter of my comparison between active EMGs and passive Seymour Duncans. I show the following . The neck pickups with moody solos, fat chords and clean sounds. . The sound of both neck and bridge pickups combined. I'm using these guitars: . ESP M-II (Japan) with active EMG 81 pickups (bridge and neck). . Jackson King V KV2 (USA) with passive JB TB-4 (bridge) and JB SH-4 (neck) Seymour Duncan pickups. Then I discuss the following: . Some players think just because a pickup is active, it's heavier than its passive competitors. That's a myth. Both sound equally heavy as my videos show. . Some people say, the closer the pickup to the strings, the better the sound. Not always true. If too close, some pickups may enhance the string oscillation and create a really dirty sound. . Players should think twice before installing expensive pickups on an average guitar because: 1. It may not be cost-effective. 2. The pickup may not retrofit the cavity. 3. A guitar sound is deeply affected by the wood and bridge's metal. There's no guarantee the guitar will sound good. . If you stop playing and take your hand away from the fretboard, you'll usually hear some undesired noise coming from the amplifier. EMGs are incredibly noise-free compared to various passive pickups. . I explain how I was able to <b>...</b>

Seymour Duncan Shape Shifter Tap Tremolo
www.ProGuitarShop.com-The Seymour Duncan Shape Shifter Tremolo pedal is an all analog, dual mode tremolo pedal. The SFX-07 Rate mode allows a steady speed from 1 to 20 cycles per second to be manually adjusted by the rate knob. In Ratio mode, the tap switch sets the rate of the tremolo and also gives you the option of setting a tap-to-note ratio: 1:1, 2:1, 3:1, or 4:1. With this function the Shape Shifter Tremolo lets you decide on 1/4 notes, 1/8 notes, triplets, or 1/16 notes. Another distinctive feature of the Shape Shifter Tap Tremolo is the Shape control. Normally a tremolo has an even relationship between the time that the volume increases and decreases. With the Shape knob at 12 o'clock, this characteristic is maintained, however when you move it left or right, the relationship changes. The SFX-07 will deliver a short volume increase followed by a longer volume decrease or vice-versa which will add a very different feel to the overall effect. The Seymour Duncan Shape Shifter is a very natural sounding Tremolo. The all analog signal path keeps your tone pristine and gets a very vintage vibe from the Shape Shifter. With the Wave control, the SFX-07 can deliver smooth creamy tremolo or choppy square wave style chop. When a short volume increase is coupled with a long volume decrease via the Shape control, the tone gets very percussive and piano-like. We found the Tap control extremely useful in a live situation where the drummer is your metronome and quick changes are <b>...</b>

EMG vs. Seymour Duncan - Active vs. Passive Pickups - Part 3 of 3
I hope you enjoy my EMG vs. Seymour Duncan pickup comparison. If you think my videos are helpful, consider making a small donation through my website: www.dmometalguitar.com. This is the third chapter of my comparison between active EMGs and passive Seymour Duncans. I'm using these guitars . ESP M-II (Japan) with active EMG 81 pickups (bridge and neck). . Jackson King V KV2 (USA) with passive JB TB-4 (bridge) and JB SH-4 (neck) Seymour Duncan pickups. I discuss the following: . Active EMGs sometimes catch the vibration created by the strings, tremolo springs and other bridge parts (even if you don't use the tremolo), creating a dirty sound. This vibration may be invisible to the human eye but not to the EMGs. . I compare the sound of string brands such as Ernie Ball, D'addario and Dean Markley Blue Steel. I also demonstrate the EMG 81 pickup on my BC Rich Wartribe Warlock guitar with a Kahler Hybrid tremolo. . Wood is a matter of taste, but based on my tests with numerous guitars, alder is my favorite wood for heavy metal. Not only it's light in weight but also sounds extremely heavy. . A Kahler installation on a Gibson Explorer was my best evidence on how much the bridge's metal affects the sound. The Gibson pickups became excessively bright (without crunch), and I got tons of pickup noise. My costliest mistake! I ended up selling the guitar. Some players haven't had problems with Kahlers on their Gibsons, but at least on my Explorer, it diminished the sound. . You can <b>...</b>
