A Picturesque Glance at the City of Worcester (2010) by Michael J. Sirois (720p HD)
My entry in the Woo Tube 101 Contest. A PICTURESQUE GLANCE AT THE CITY OF WORCESTER is a short experimental film by Clark University screen studies student Michael J. Sirois that demonstrates some positive aspects of Worcester, MA through modern, inspiring music and a unique visual style. Visit USA's oldest state park, or the first area of land purchased for a public park, or experience the culture and artistic aspects of a beautiful city that many people will never forget. I am tired of watching videos that are supposed to demonstrate what a city is when all they present are numbers and facts. Not only is it boring, it's not the truth. That is selective. Too selective to represent my city. Many people don't know about the tragedy with the Worcester firefighters, but I am a local and I can remember that horrible event quite clearly. It's important to recognize that Worcester is a unique city in the sense that its citizens, no matter how diverse, all have the same understanding of the space around them. Do you want to know why you would want to come to Worcester? Watch this film and maybe you can understand why I'm so inspired to create art in the environment I'm in. Some people have been asking me who the music is by. It's listed in the credits but I'll make it clearer by posting it here as well. I create music on the side of filmmaking. Film is my true passion, but I do a produce a lot of beats and instrumentals that are sort of indie (independent) hip hop. I composed ...

Worcester firefighter pays ultimate sacrifice
On Dec 8, 2011 around 4:20am firefighters were called to 49 Arlington St for a structure fire. Heavy fire was showing from the rear of the structure. Companies initiated an interior attack but conditions rapidly deteriorated forcing firefighters outside. Occupants then stated there may have been 1 more occupant still inside on the 2nd floor. Firefighters went back inside to do a secondary search when the entire rear of the building pancake collapsed on 2 firefighters. 1 unfortunately passed away and the 2nd firefighter received serious injuries though expected to be ok. Both were trapped for over an hour. It took 3 alarms to bring the fire under control. As of this time, no word on the occupant. Companies are still going through the debris. This fire took place a week after the 12th anniversary of the Worcester Cold Storage fire. www.providencefirevideos.com

Hastings DEMU 1001 goes to Worcester - 'Worcester Leveller' Railtour, 03/10/09
A video of Hastings Diesels Limited's 'The Worcester Leveller' Railtour on Saturday 3rd October 2009, worked by class 201 'Hastings' DEMU 'Thumper' No. 1001. The Railtour started at Hastings and picked up passengers at St Leonards Warrior Square, Battle (where I joined), Etchingham, Tunbridge Wells, Tonbridge, Sevenoaks, Bromley South and Kensington Olymia. After departing from Olymipa, the 5-car 'Thumper' travelled via Willesden South West Sidings, Acton Mainline, Reading, Swindon and Cheltenham Spa to reach the City of Worcester. After a break of around 3 and half hours, 1001 returned to Hastings, via a partially different route, taking us via the 1 in 37 Lickey Incline (thought to be the 1st time a 'Hastings' DEMU has assended the Lickey), Birmingham New Street, Tyseley, Leamington Spa, Banbury, Princes Risborough, South Ruislip, Greenford West and South Junctions, West Ealing and picked up the outward route at Kensington Olympia. The DEMU was in a 5-car formation, formed of Motor Coach S60118 "Tunbridge Wells" (from class 202 unit 1013), trailer 60501 (from the original 1001), ex-4-BIG EMU Buffet 69337), trailer 60529 (from class 202 unit 1013) and Motor Coach S60116 "Mountfield" (from class 202 unit 1012). The majority of the footage was filmed from onboard the train, with me not leaning out of the windows to get it. Only the camera was placed outside the window. Fireman's Prayer w/ Memorial Tribute - Worcester, MA
This is a tribute video of the tragic 1999 Worcester, MA warehouse fire that claimed the lives of six local firefighters and the Memorial Service that followed. It was created shortly after the event from news coverage as a tribute to the "Worcester 6" and those who serve in the firefighting community. The song "Fireman's Prayer" written by Charlie Ball and performed by Plainfolk (plainfolk*com) provides an inspirational background to this somber tribute. Together , the music and the video capture the spirit of the brotherhood and the bond shared by this extended family. The Coldstream Guards in Worcester
The band of her majesty's Coldstream Guards visited Worcester on August 9th 2003 to launch the city's first annual festival. In this video they play theme music from various movies. The temperature was around 100F and it was tough to hold the camera above my head for so long but at least I didn't have to march in one of those uniforms. This is an updated version of a previously uploaded video. It was edited with iMovie HD which is part of the iLife suite which comes with every Mac.

Worcester, MA Bouncer ,Easton Byfield Arrested 4 Assaulting,Robbing Man @ Platinum Premier Club
WORCESTER, Mass. -- A bouncer at a Worcester club is now facing several charges. Those charges include assault, robbery and kidnapping. The video is getting a lot of attention on YouTube. One moment the strip club's bouncer looks at the camera and smiles, and then he throws a punch in the face. The bouncer, identified by Worcester Police as 35-year-old Easton Byfield, strikes the victim after accusing him of selling drugs inside the club. Byfield locked the door and the punched him a second, third and then fourth time in the bathroom of the club. Police say there is no evidence at all that the 25-year-old victim did anything wrong. "We don't know if this is just one isolated incident or if this is something he's been doing and shaking down people in the past," said Sgt. Kerry Hazelhurst of the Worcester Police Department. "Pretty much what this looked like was a shakedown. This video that we have that we took off of YouTube is a pretty graphic in detailed video. It's a great piece of evidence. It pretty much leaves it with little doubt on what occurred and what went on." Police say Byfield stole $300 out of the victim's wallet and called it the victim's "sacrifice." 7NEWS caught up with Byfield at his condo complex while he was walking two little dogs. There, he told 7NEWS that he had never heard of YouTube. At the club, the manager at the door told 7NEWS that this was an isolated incident. "Nothing like this ever happens here. We are a respectful club. This is a ...

Worcester Cold Storage Fire
December 3, 1999 The blaze seemed so non-threatening that firefighters didn't bother to put on their masks as they swept through the Worcester Cold Storage and Warehouse shortly after 6:15 pm on Dec. 3, 1999. Soon, all that would change. The building would quickly envelop the men inside with thick, boiling smoke, poisonous fumes and flames that would reach more than 3000 degrees before the horrible night ended. Six Worcester firefighters -- Lt. Thomas E. Spencer, Lt. James F. Lyons, Paul A. Brotherton, Jeremiah M. Lucey, Timothy P. Jackson and Joseph T. McGuirk -- never made it out alive. District Fire Chief Michael O. McNamee, who would later call the abandoned warehouse "the building from hell," said he had never seen conditions deteriorate so rapidly in 27 years on the job. The fire had started earlier in the afternoon when a homeless couple, Julie Ann Barnes and Thomas Levesque, knocked over a candle during an argument. They ran out of the building when they couldn't put out the flames. They never reported the fire. It took six days to extinguish the blaze, eight to locate the remains of all six men. The drama played out in front of a grieving city and nation. President Bill Clinton and more than 30000 firefighters from around the country joined the city in a public memorial service at the Worcester Centrum. Through the tears, the city seemed to gain strength and unity. Thousands lined the streets for the memorial service, standing silently as a sea of visiting ...
