It was first published on 22 February 1985 by the Jornal de Notícias company in Porto, and it was seen as appealing mainly to supporters of Futebol Clube do Porto, suppressing the gap of the two other national sports newspapers, A Bola and Record. Currently, it also has a Lisbon edition, with a slight different emphasis to appeal to a region where Sport Lisboa e Benfica and Sporting Clube de Portugal are based and where FC Porto has fewer supporters.
It was sold in 1995 to Jornalinveste, SA, which still owns the newspaper to this day.
