Tribune Celebration
Tribune Celebration
In the summer of 2009, Tribune magazine, Britain's truest and best voice of left wing politics, celebrated 72 years of publication at an informal gathering at the House Of Commons. This is an exclusive You Tube video record of the event, which was hosted by Tribune's new proprietor Kevin McGrath and Tribune editor Chris McLaughlin. A thorn in the side of all governments, constructively to Labour, unforgiving to Conservatives, more Tribune, comment and cartoons at www.tribunemagazine.co.uk Tribune was founded in 1937 by Labour politician Aneurin Bevan, who, as Health and Housing Secretary in Clement Attlees post-war government, went on to found the National Health Service. Originally intended as a unifying platform for the left in the fight against fascism in Francos Spain, Tribune remains an independent weekly labour movement voice carrying news, views, features, books and arts reviews and cartoons. Its editors have included Michael Foot and George Orwell, a former literary editor.

Classic Chicago Tribune Cartoonists - 1931
Classic Chicago Tribune Cartoonists - 1931
An edited excerpt from the silent 1931 promotional documentary, "From Trees to Tribunes," focusing on the Tribune company's stable of cartoonists. At work we can see John T. McCutcheon, Gaar Williams, Carey Orr, Sidney Smith of "The Gumps," Frank King of "Gasoline Alley," Frank Willard of "Moon Mullins, Carl Ed of "Harold Teen," Martin Branner of "Winnie Winkle," Walter Berndt of "Smitty" and Harold Gray of "Little Orphan Annie." Noticeably missing from the line-up is Chester Gould's "Dick Tracy," which didn't begin until October of 1931. From dated materials in the film, the cartoonists appear to have been photographed in February of that year. All three parts of this promotional film can be downloaded at archive.org. The music is 1930's "Medley of Paramount Music" and Ray De Costa's "Whoopee." All video and audio used here are in the public domain.

The Tribune - Kite (Original 8 Minute Demo Version)
The Tribune - Kite (Original 8 Minute Demo Version)
This is the original uncut demo version of Kite by The Tribune. Judging by the scream's this sound's like it was made around the same time as the original The Thirty Years War 5 song demo. Even with the chipmunk scream's i still personally prefer this to JLV's version. I find the teenage vocal's and low production value's more genuine and heartfelt i suppose :/ . Also there's some pic's of a very young Thirty Years War with original guitarist mike munro in there.
