A mass shooting has occurred at a Sikh temple in Oak Creek, Wisc., just outside Milwaukee. At least four people have been reported injured in the mass shooting and no suspect has been identified. Hospitals in the area were told to be ready for up to 20 shooting victims, according to police radio reports. "An officer arrived and engaged a suspect. That officer was shot multiple times. He is expected to survive," said Brad Wentlandt, the police chief of Greenfield, Wisc., at a hastily-arranged briefing for news media. "The officer exchanged fire with the shooter. That shooter was put down." Some members of the temple are still inside the temple and are hiding, believing that a gunman may still be inside the building Related article

Syrian Prime Minister Ryiad Hijab has defected from President Bashar al-Assad's government to join "the revolution just, less than two months after he was appointed. A spokesman acting on behalf of Mr Hijab said this defection had been planned with the Syrian rebels and that he was in a safe country. This is what he said. "Today we announced the defection of Riyad Hijab, the Syrian prime minister. Mr Riyad had a choice to be part of this criminal regime but he chose to be among the Syrian people and its revolution. This defection did not come in one day, or yesterday, it had been planned for over two months, with the Free Syria Army and the rebels. Mr. Riyad Hijab is with his family and nine of his brothers and sisters in a safe place in a neighbouring country." Early reports said Mr Hijab had defected to Jordan, but Jordanian state TV later denied this. His whereabouts are still unknown. Hijab's departure is one of the most high profile desertions from al-Assad's government. Written and Presented by Ann Salter

A massive blast late on Sunday August 30th, near the Chaman crossing in southwestern Pakistans Baluchistan Province, set trucks and oil tankers on fire. Police official Gul Mohammad says five oil tankers, five trailers and two container trucks have been burned so far. Pakistani supply routes to landlocked Afghanistan are vital for Western forces battling a resurgent Taliban. They will become even more important as the United States increases its forces in the country to perhaps 60000 soldiers by years end. The US Defense Department says 75 percent of supplies for the Afghan war, including 40 percent of the fuel for its troops, move through or over Pakistan. Pakistani Taliban stepped up attacks on the main supply route through Pakistan's Khyber Pass last year. Pakistani forces responded with an offensive in late December to clear militants away from the route. On a daily basis, about 300 trucks cross into Afghanistan through the Kyber Pass and about 100 cross over at the Chaman Pass. The supply route through the border town of Chaman leads to the Afghan city of Kandahar, and has been largely free of attacks, at least on the Pakistani side. Western forces in Afghanistan have played down the impact of the disruption, saying they have stockpiles of supplies. But the attacks in the Khyber region have forced NATO to look for alternate entry routes, including through Central Asia, into northern Afghanistan.

For downloads and more info visit: www.journeyman.tv This powerful exclusive is the first film to access the Free Syrian Army's secret labyrinth of caves and also holds a rare interview with the FSA leader. A fascinating insight to how the battle for Syria is being fought. "Please don't film!" one fighter says, as two rebels argue in the pitch black over the presence of a journalist. In this increasingly violent war the rebels have been using their local knowledge to great advantage. And these 3000 year old caves are of huge strategic importance. "The army besieged us many times and we always slipped through." But local knowledge will only go so far and the rebels are hard pressed to counter the might of the Syrian army with limited resources. As one failed test run of a home-made mortar shows, they don't have much to work with. They are disheartened by months of fighting without help. "America and Europe hide behind the Russian veto. They lie to us." Even the head of the Free Syrian Army, Colonel Riad al-Assad, is unable to help. As rebel groups come to him for guidance he can only encourage coordination. When asked about the suicide bomb that killed the minister of defence he says, "This is an integral part of the revolutionary action. It could break the regime's back." As things get increasingly desperate, anything that hastens the end of the bloodshed in Syria will form a part of their strategy. SBS
