The Crusades were a series of intermittent Papal sanctioned military campaigns beginning in the late 11th-century. They commenced with a call to arms by Pope Urban II who was responding to a request for military support for the Byzantine Empire. The Byzantine Emperor, Alexios I, needed military reinforcements for the conflict with the westward migrating Turks in Anatolia. Historians debate Urban and the Crusader’s primary motivations. One of Urban's stated aims was to guarantee pilgrims access to the holy sites in the Holy Land that were under Muslim control while his wider strategy may have been to establish himself as head of the united Church and bringing together the Eastern and Western branches of Christendom that had been divided since their split in 1054. What is known though is the unprecedented response to Urban’s preaching and the precedent it made for later crusades. Hundreds of thousands of people from many different classes across Western Europe became crusaders by taking a public vow and receiving plenary indulgences from the church. Some were peasants hoping for Apotheosis at Jerusalem. Urban preached that anyone who participated would be forgiven by God of all their sins. In addition some historians argue that participation satisfied feudal obligations and provided opportunities for economic and political gain.
Opinions concerning the conduct of crusaders have varied from laudatory to highly critical. Crusaders often pillaged the countries through which they traveled, and contrary to their promises the leaders retained much of this territory rather than returning it to the Byzantines. The People's Crusade prompted the murder of thousands of Jews, known as the Rhineland massacres. Constantinople was sacked during the Fourth Crusade, rendering the reunification of Christendom impossible.
The impact of the crusades was profound; they reopened the Mediterranean to commerce and travel, enabling Genoa and Venice to flourish. The Crusades consolidated the collective identity of the Latin Church under papal leadership, and were a source of heroism, chivalry, and piety. This consequently spawned medieval romance, philosophy, and literature. However, the crusades reinforced the connection between Western Christendom, feudalism, and militarism.

This is the piece I made for our school's Concert Band to play. We played it at our semester concert a few weeks back, so I don't really have any problem with putting it up anymore, plus there are people who want to hear it that missed the performance. The score isn't shown, so I'm not terribly worried about plagiarism. This is one of the best and most serious pieces I've written so far, so I hope you enjoy.

I'm sorry for all the apparent silence I've given here. I haven't gone on complete hiatus, although it might seem that way. What happened is this: I've actually been very busy music-wise, but now composing for real life rather than fun little ditties to put on YouTube. Some of the things I've done since my last upload are: the soundtrack for a play, a drum line cadence, a piece for concert band, a composition for the NFAA YoungArts competition, and a Christmas album. The first two I will not be uploading; the first because it is hard to understand without the context of the play and the vocal part, and the cadence because in my opinion it is nothing of note.
The latter three, however, I will be posting. The band piece has been performed in concert already, so its job is essentially over. The YoungArts piece did not get chosen as a winner for the competition, so I can put it here now. And as for my Christmas album, I needed some way to get it to people who couldn't physically receive a copy. For all of these, I'm not overly worried about plagiarism because I am no longer showing the scores and such complex pieces would be extremely difficult to transcribe.
One thing you may notice is that I have changed the way I do my videos, using iMovie to export a movie file with the music in it rather than recording my screen with a camcorder. This is for two reasons. First, my camcorder's sound quality sucked, and any recording of the sound will have less quality than the direct sound file itself, so this way it sounds better. Second, this way people also can't see the score, and while you may think I'm over-paranoid about plagiarism, it's always possible, and the ones I'm posting now are more serious than previous ones, so I don't want to risk any chances.
Sorry for this wall of text, but I felt that some explanation was due after my long period of silence.

This is the piece I made for our school's Concert Band to play. We played it at our semester concert a few weeks back, so I don't really have any problem with putting it up anymore, plus there are people who want to hear it that missed the performance. The score isn't shown, so I'm not terribly worried about plagiarism. This is one of the best and most serious pieces I've written so far, so I hope you enjoy.

I'm sorry for all the apparent silence I've given here. I haven't gone on complete hiatus, although it might seem that way. What happened is this: I've actually been very busy music-wise, but now composing for real life rather than fun little ditties to put on YouTube. Some of the things I've done since my last upload are: the soundtrack for a play, a drum line cadence, a piece for concert band, a composition for the NFAA YoungArts competition, and a Christmas album. The first two I will not be uploading; the first because it is hard to understand without the context of the play and the vocal part, and the cadence because in my opinion it is nothing of note.
The latter three, however, I will be posting. The band piece has been performed in concert already, so its job is essentially over. The YoungArts piece did not get chosen as a winner for the competition, so I can put it here now. And as for my Christmas album, I needed some way to get it to people who couldn't physically receive a copy. For all of these, I'm not overly worried about plagiarism because I am no longer showing the scores and such complex pieces would be extremely difficult to transcribe.
One thing you may notice is that I have changed the way I do my videos, using iMovie to export a movie file with the music in it rather than recording my screen with a camcorder. This is for two reasons. First, my camcorder's sound quality sucked, and any recording of the sound will have less quality than the direct sound file itself, so this way it sounds better. Second, this way people also can't see the score, and while you may think I'm over-paranoid about plagiarism, it's always possible, and the ones I'm posting now are more serious than previous ones, so I don't want to risk any chances.

This is the piece I made for our school's Concert Band to play. We played it at our semester concert a few weeks back, so I don't really have any problem with putting it up anymore, plus there are people who want to hear it that missed the performance. The score isn't shown, so I'm not terribly worried about plagiarism. This is one of the best and most serious pieces I've written so far, so I hope you enjoy.

I'm sorry for all the apparent silence I've given here. I haven't gone on complete hiatus, although it might seem that way. What happened is this: I've actually been very busy music-wise, but now composing for real life rather than fun little ditties to put on YouTube. Some of the things I've done since my last upload are: the soundtrack for a play, a drum line cadence, a piece for concert band, a composition for the NFAA YoungArts competition, and a Christmas album. The first two I will not be uploading; the first because it is hard to understand without the context of the play and the vocal part, and the cadence because in my opinion it is nothing of note.
The latter three, however, I will be posting. The band piece has been performed in concert already, so its job is essentially over. The YoungArts piece did not get chosen as a winner for the competition, so I can put it here now. And as for my Christmas album, I needed some way to get it to people who couldn't physically receive a copy. For all of these, I'm not overly worried about plagiarism because I am no longer showing the scores and such complex pieces would be extremely difficult to transcribe.
One thing you may notice is that I have changed the way I do my videos, using iMovie to export a movie file with the music in it rather than recording my screen with a camcorder. This is for two reasons. First, my camcorder's sound quality sucked, and any recording of the sound will have less quality than the direct sound file itself, so this way it sounds better. Second, this way people also can't see the score, and while you may think I'm over-paranoid about plagiarism, it's always possible, and the ones I'm posting now are more serious than previous ones, so I don't want to risk any chances.

Civilization IV: Epic Speed Victory: The Tenth Crusade, by Greece
Monarchy, Mercantilism, and Pacifism are weakening Greece, draining the treasury of valuable gold used for upgrading troops. The Greeks rebel, but keep TempestWizard in power, since everyone, even the nobles, have a common thought - to destroy the Arabians. The new government continues the mobilization, enlisting a total of six cannon units, three grenadier units, nine musketman units, five frigate (warship) units, and six galleon (naval transport) units against Saladin. Cannons and muskets slash and burn Anjar with no casualties, then settle a new city there, called Thessalonica. At first, there were few casualties, but soon, the longbowmen and camel archers put up a defense and there were only three grenadier and one musketman unit left, at the end, where Greece finally burned Baghdad... and prepared for a landing at Mecca, where the Arabs would be PWNED and ready for complete conquer.
