Yeh Hanste Hue Phool Mohd Rafi Film Pyaasa 1957 Music SDBurman..
Yeh Hanste Hue Phool Mohd Rafi Film Pyaasa 1957 Music SDBurman.. Well made Bollywood film by one of its exceptional filmmakers. The story seems to be based on the novel "Devdas" by Saratchandra Chatterjee, though not credited so (poor poet is still in love with his former girlfriend who has married for money, despite that he is himself loved by a selfless prostitute). The ending is different of course, as it is not tragic here but rather educative. The quite open and bold social criticism - especially in the song on prostitution - is also well worth noticing. The music by SD Burman is beautiful, the actors are convincing, especially Guru Dutt as the poor and misunderstood poet with an attitude and Waheeda Rehman as the prostitute with a heart of gold. It is interesting that the songs are often inserted in the story itself (many of them are REALLY songs sung in the story), and are not only musical picturizations of fantasies, dreams, etc., as it is often the case in (later?) Bollywood films. Though this also occurs of course, as in the Guru Dutt-Mala Sinha duet scene. Well worth seeing for lovers of heart-wrenching melodrama and vintage Bollywood music. Kishore & Asha - Chhod Do Aanchal Zamaana Kya Kahega - Paying Guest [1957]
"Paying Guest" is a 1957 Bollywood film directed by Subodh Mukherjee. The film stars Dev Anand and Nutan along with Shobha Khote. The soundtrack, composed by Sachin Dev Burman received a degree of popularity and made a lasting impression. The lyrics were written by Majrooh Sultanpuri. Paying Guest was the second hit film of the team of Mukherjee, Hussain, Dev Anand and SD Burman , who had combined two years earlier to make the successful Munimji.............. Kishore Kumar (Hindi: किशोर कुमार}) (August 4, 1929 October 13, 1987) was Indian film playback singer and actor. Along with Mukesh, Ahmed Rushdi and Mohammed Rafi, he dominated Indian subcontinent music from the 1950s to the 1970s. Kumar also achieved notable success as a lyricist, composer, producer, director, screenwriter and scriptwriter. Kishore Kumar was a prolific vocalist and sang in many Indian languages including Hindi, Bengali, Marathi, Assamese, Gujarati, Kannada, Bhojpuri, Malayalam and Oriya. He is also widely regarded as the most versatile singer in the history of Indian cinema and a maverick of sorts for lending his voice to songs that did not conform to the norms of the day. After Ashok Kumar became a Bollywood star, the Ganguly family used to visit Mumbai regularly. Abhas Kumar changed his name to Kishore Kumar and started his cinema career as a chorus singer at Bombay Talkies, where his brother worked. His first film as an actor was Shikari (1946), in which Ashok Kumar played the lead role ...

Jinhen naaz hai hind par wo kahan hein Film Piyaasa (1957) Sahir Ludhianvi SD Burman M Rafi G Dutt
Pyaasa (Hindi: प्यासा; Urdu: پیاسا; English: Thirsty) is a 1957 Indian film produced and directed by Guru Dutt. The film tells the story of struggling poet, Vijay (Guru Dutt), trying to make his works known in post-independence India. Gulabo (Waheeda Rehman in her first major leading role in Hindi cinema), a prostitute with a heart of gold, eventually helps him get his poems published. The music was composed by SD Burman. With the commercial success of thrillers like Baazi, Jaal, Aar Paar and CID as well as comedies like Mr. & Mrs. '55, Guru Dutt and his studio were financially secure and established. From 1957, he could now make movies he really wanted to make, including Pyaasa. In 2002, Pyaasa was ranked at #160 on the Sight & Sound critics' and directors' poll of all-time greatest films. In 2005, Pyaasa was rated as one of the 100 best films of all time by Time Magazine, which called it "the soulfully romantic of the lot." Indiatimes Movies ranks the movie amongst the Top 25 Must See Bollywood Films. Vijay (Guru Dutt) is an unsuccessful poet whose works are not taken seriously by publishers or his brothers (who sell his poems as waste paper). Unable to bear their taunting that he is a good-for-nothing, he stays away from home and is often out on the streets. He encounters a good-hearted prostitute named Gulabo (Waheeda Rehman), who is enamoured with his poetry and falls in love with him. He also encounters his ex-girlfriend Meena (Mala Sinha) from college and ...

The Song of India | Generation One | Opening Reel
The Song of India | Generation One | Opening Reel
‘Bhaarath Geeth [The Song of India]™’ is the fourth volume in a series of feature length musicals entitled ‘All That Music™’ currently in production at HappyFamily Spliffs. The series aims to bring preferably to the big screen or at least onto DVD the finest music from all around the world in video form, each volume being dedicated to a particular nation, tradition or style of music.
Five years in the making, ‘The Song of India™’ is the first volume in the series so far to be completed as a final video storyboard version. It showcases the finest in Hindi film music, in a representative sample that spans the last sixty years of Bollywood Cinema. Since the volume currently runs for nearly 8 hours, we have subdivided it into three ‘Generations‘ that broadly represent the three main episodes in the historical development of Indian Cinema.
‘Generation One’ exemplifies Bollywood music from the early 50’s to the mid-80’s, whilst ‘Generation Two’ is an exploration of the accomplishments of a second wave of musicians and filmmakers during the last decade of the previous century and early this century. ‘Generation Three’ wraps up the volume, showcasing the current trends in the Bollywood music scene.
All the titles in this volume are subtitled in English. Unfortunately, a few of the song titles still carry grammatical or typographical errors in their subtitles, because it wasn’t worth our while to re-subtitle these until a final storyboard would be agreed with our producers. Similarly, much re-mastering is yet to be done to improve the visual and the audio quality of these videos, in particular, of those from the very early films.
We will be posting the whole volume of ’The Song of India™’ on Vimeo, in several, 500 Mb reels on a weekly basis. We hope you would revisit this channel to view the remaining posts as they appear.

Do Aankhen Barah Haath(1957)Hindi-Movie
Do Aankhen Barah Haath (Hindi: दो आँखें बारह हाथ, English: Two Eyes, Twelve Hands) is a 1957 Hindi film directed by the Indian film director V. Shantaram, who also starred in the film. It is considered one of the classics of Hindi cinema and is based on morals of Gandhian philosophy. It won a Silver Bear at the 8th Berlin International Film Festival and it was the first Indian film to win a Golden Globe Award. The film is also remembered for its theme song, Aye maalik tere bande hum, sung by Lata Mangeshkar and written by Bharat Vyas. The film was inspired by the story of an 'open prison' experiment Swatantrapur in the princely state of Aundh near Satara. Now Swatantrapur is part of Atpadi tehsil in Sangli district of Maharashtra. It was recounted by screenwriter GD Madgulkar to V. Shantaram.[1] In 2005, Indiatimes Movies ranked the movie amongst the Top 25 Must See Bollywood Films.[2] During the filming V. Shantaram battled with a bull and he hurt his one eye during the stunt, though his eyesight survived.[3] The film was later remade in 1975 in Tamil as Pallandu Vazhga starring MG Ramachandran and Latha, and in 1976 as the Telugu color film Maa Daivam starring NT Rama Rao and Jayachitra. The film portrays a young jail warden, Adinath, who rehabilitates six deadly prisoners released on parole into persons of virtue. He takes these notorious, often surly, murderers and makes them work hard with him on a dilapidated country farm, rehabilitating them through ...

Lata - Nagri Nagri Dware Dware - Mother India [1957]
Mother India (Hindi: भारत माता, Urdu: بھارت ماتا) is a 1957 Bollywood movie directed by Mehboob Khan, nominated for Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film in 1957. The film is a remake of Mehboob Khan's earlier film Aurat (1940). In 2005, Indiatimes Movies ranked the movie amongst the Top 25 Must See Bollywood Films. Credits; * Cast: Nargis, Sunil Dutt, Rajendra Kumar, Raaj Kumar, Kanhaiyalal, Sajid Khan, Chanchal * Dialogues: S. Ali Raza * Music: Naushad * Lyrics: Shakeel Badayuni * Story, Screenplay, Producer & Direction: Mehboob Khan. Trivia; * Nargis had long been romantically linked with director and actor Raj Kapoor, but in the end married Sunil Dutt, who co-starred with her in this movie. The marriage seemed scandalous to many at the time, because Sunil had played her son in the movie. * Rajendra Kumar, who plays Nargis's eldest son and Sunil Dutt's brother in the movie also became a part of their family later on, when his son Kumar Gaurav, married Dutt and Nargis's daughter Anju(Namrata Dutt). * The film grossed over Rs.40 million. This record was beaten 3 years later by Mughal-E-Azam in 1960. * This was the first Indian film to ever be nominated in the "Best Foreign Language Film" category at the Oscars in 1957, though Nights of Cabiria eventually got the award. It would not be until 1988, with Salaam Bombay, when India would again be represented at the Oscars. * Sunil Dutt famously saved Nargis during the fire sequence. Nargis was shown trapped ...
