War Reporter - Trailer
From Somalia's painful struggles, to Liberia's apocalyptic civil war. In fact before he was killed Martin Adler recorded pretty much every war going. His blood-stained but very human dispatches helped define the way we saw foreign conflicts for over a decade. His quiet sensitivity while in the heart of darkness bought him awards and acclaim. For the first time his photographs and thousands of hours of video have been brought together to produce a riveting profile of an extraordinary man. "This bloke knows what he's seen but he's not talking!", cries a US army troop embodying the gung ho attitude at the start of the Iraq war. Haunting scenes from Martin's life flash before our eyes - women sweeping the ground in the middle of a bombed-out Chechnya; a Liberian warlord holding an AK 47 in one hand and a baby in the other; desecrated landscapes from Uganda to Algeria. Martin allowed the images to speak for themselves, fuelled by a fearless curiosity, which would eventually get him killed: "I want to go to the place where nobody else goes to and I want to listen to the people nobody else listens to". It takes a particular kind of man to be a war reporter - living on your wits on an unsteady income, never knowing what the next day will bring. Yet as Martin's friends remember: "he was not the kind of guy who could have done anything else". Riding along with Martin as we watch his fifteen year long journey through forty different war-ravaged countries, is a terrifying experience ...

War Correspondent
Argyris Dinopoulos worked as a lawyer until the 1980s when he decided to give up practicing law for journalism. The collapse of the communist regime in Romania in December 1989 and the subsequent execution of Nicolaje Causesku was the first coverage of a major international event for Argyris Dinopoulos. The main event of the early 1990s was undoubtedly the eruption of the gulf war in 19991Argyris Dinopoulos, along with hundreds of his fellow journalists, covered the war from Amman-Jordan, since the Iraqi government had given the exclusive rights for the coverage of the war from Baghdad to CNN. Argyris Dinopoulos covered the Yugoslav Wars from the very start until 1995 when the Dayton agreement was signed. He was also there to cover the tragic aftermath of the signing. He made countless reports from Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia and Bosnia and he was one the first war correspondents who was present at Vucovar in November 1991. He was also present in Sarajevo in the spring and summer of 1992. Apart from the Yugoslav wars, Argyris Dinopoulos covered the major events of the 1990s all around the world. He was in Rwanda during the civil war and in Mexico during the uprising of the Zapatistas. He witnessed the coup against Mikhail Gorbachev in the dying Soviet Union, the riots in Albania, the deathly earthquakes in India, Turkey and Egypt. He was also present during environmental disasters such as the oil spill off the coast of the Shetland Islands and the disastrous blazes in ...

Marie Colvin, war reporter killed in Syria
IN a world of bis New Reporting, we losted a great reporter...... The house she was staying in shelled hour after she reports kids dieing..............WTF Marie Colvin, a Sunday Times journalist, and a French photographer have reportedly been killed in the besieged Syrian city of Homs after the house where they were staying was shelled. Colvin, an American reporter for the British newspaper, and photographer Remi Ochlik both died in the attack, opposition activists and witnesses said. Shells hit the house in which the two veteran war correspondents were staying, then they were killed by a rocket as they tried to make their escape, Reuters reported. Colvin, known for wearing a black eye patch after she lost an eye due to a shrapnel wound while working in Sri Lanka in 2001, was the only journalist from a British newspaper in Homs. At least two other Western journalists were wounded after more than 10 rockets hit the house, it is understood. Only yesterday, Colvin reported on shelling in the city in a video for the BBC, as well as CNN, in which she described the bloodshed as "absolutely sickening". "I watched a little baby die today," she said. "Absolutely horrific. "There is just shells, rockets and tank fire pouring into civilian areas of this city and it is just unrelenting." In a report published in the Sunday Times over the weekend, Colvin spoke of the citizens of Homs "waiting for a massacre". "The scale of human tragedy in the city is immense. The inhabitants are ...

Above video: Chris Hedges: "What happens is in all of these movements ... the foot soldiers of the elite -- the blue uniformed police, the mechanisms of control -- finally don't want to impede the movement and at that point the power elite is left defenseless ... the only thing I can say having been in the middle of similar movements is that this one is real, and this one could take them all down ... I can guarantee you that huge segments of those blue uniformed police sympathize with everything that you're doing." -- Pulitzer Prize winner Chris Hedges brings his 20 years of experience as a war correspondent, having covered movements and revolutions throughout the the world, to the discussion.

Libya: War for oil
The war of intervention in Libya is yet another American illegal adventure argues Keith Harmon Snow, an independent war correspondent. The objective, he says, secured access to Libya's significant oil supply, other mineral resources and defense testing. He says the argument of humanitarianism and stopping a "warlord" was a absolute nonsense. If that argument were true, he contends, there are far more brutal war criminals in African countries the US could have chosen to target. Follow Lucy on Twitter: twitter.com
