Greyhound bus trip through northern US: (7) Salt Lake City to Wasatch Range 2010-08-29
On a clear summer day, a Greyhound bus leaving Salt Lake City heads into a canyon in the Wasatch Range as it climbs along Interstate 80, east toward the plateau state of Wyoming. The rather irritable driver from Boise to Salt Lake City who considers himself a "never-lost" driver ends up getting lost while looking for the road back to the Greyhound terminal to pick up his forgotten log book is now history; he has been replaced by a compassionate bilingual driver with the stature of Vincente Fox who takes the pain to deliver crucial information in Spanish as well to Spanish-speaking-only passengers.

Greyhound bus trip through northern US: (8) Wasatch Range Utah to Rawlins, Wyoming 2010-08-29
On a clear summer day, a Greyhound headed east from Salt Lake City continues its climb along Interstate 80 through the canyon in the Wasatch Range before finally reaching the plateau to enter Wyoming for its stops, as announced by the driver @ 9:12, at Evanston (elevation 6700 ft / 2000 m: as suggested by the stiff plateau-country breeze blowing on the dog walkers @ 9:40). After this brief pause, the bus continues for an hour and half east to the next major town on Interstate 80, Rock Springs (@ 11:10), where a 30-minute meal break is had at the Golden Arch. The meal break over and the trip east through noticeably drier and less rugged terrain than the Wasatch canyon having resumed (@ 11:55), one passenger underscores the my-way-or-the-highway approach to customer service delegated by Greyhound to its drivers. Just before reaching the town of Rawlins near the continental divide, mositure and instability in the air brings on a few cold sprinkles (@ 13:05 to 14:50).

Wasatch Spring Skiing
During a 4 day period at the end of April and beginning of may in 2010, 7 feet of lake effect snow fell in the cottonwood canyons of the Wasatch Range in Utah. It was the type of snow that powder skiers dream about, and it fell in May which made it that much sweeter. This video was filmed on May 2nd with my good friend Zach Siebert. We did lap after lap of cold, blower powder turns and it was the best spring skiing I've ever had!
