Grant McLennan - Rose, Shamrock And Thistle, Sydney, 10 - 6 - 91.

Its been almost 6 years now and I'm exactly the age Grant was
when he died so suddenly. Its of course very tragic that such
a talented man should die so young.
He is missed by so many.

I have found this very nice recording which is Grant McLennan
and Phil Kakulas on stand-up bass at the Rose,Shamrock And Thistle
(3 Weeds) in Sydney on 10 June, 1991.
He was support for Dave Graney.
Turns out its a recording from Steve, a long time contributor
here at the SSS blog, so thanks Steve for recording this.

Its not so easy to find solo recordings of Grant so enjoy this
on this long weekend with a drink or two to the memory of a great man!

4ZZZ Brisbane Music Stall official launch

I went to the official launch of the 4 ZzZ Music stall last night
and caught a performance from two members of the wonderful
Mardi Lumsdem And The Rising Seas, Mardi and Andrew Pennay
doing a lovely acoustic set.
I got to buy a few of those hard to get local artist Cds , including
the Rising seas Ep.
So here's a few photos from the night and when you get a chance
get in to the West End Markets and support local music at its best.
They have different artists each week and loads of great
stuff to buy

The Blackeyed Vendors Of Paradise

Steve from Melbourne a long time contributor to the SSS blog
and sharer of much fine music has sent this rare and wonderful
recording from a 3RRR live to air of a band that has a line up
like the who's who of Australian music!
Many thanks to Steve yet again.
Now over to Steve!

A combination of Rob, Phil, Kathy and Mark from
The Blackeyed Susans and Graham and Marko from
the Paradise Vendors.
Also along are Robert and David McComb from
the Triffids who at that time were on
(eventually permanent) hiatus.
Graham and Dave were not in the 1992 incarnation
of The Blackeyed Susans.
This was a 3RRR lunch time gig and there are sound balance
problems in the first couple of songs.
Also, not the best generation tape but the songs shine through.

David Hudson - Rainbow Serpent

David Hudson is one of the leading masters of the didjeridu,

A Murri from the Tjapukai people in Kuranda, North Queensland,
he mastered the didjeridu and interpretive dances of his tribe at an
early age. He was co-founder of the Tjapukai Dance Company which,
over the past decade, has become one of Australia's premier tourist
attractions. Based outside of Cairns the group started offering short
performances, expanded into a purpose-built theatre and has
developed into Australia's first Aboriginal theme park.
Rainbow Serpent is his 1994 Celestial Harmonies release,
a masterpiece of ancient tradition fused with the digital under
the watchful eye of pioneering ambient electronic musician
Steve Roach.

Ed Kuepper & Mark Dawson – Rearranged Melbourne Spiegeltent March 1, 2012

Steve from way down south in Melbourne has sent me
his very own recording of Ed and Mark from the 1st
of March in the wonderful Spiegeltent.
It sounds like the same thing that happened here in
Brissy happened in the Spiegeltent in Melbourne,
in that the tent was doing two shows a night and
the tent needed to be vacated for the next show
so no encore. Also Steve tells me he missed the
begining of Swing.

Advance copies of Ed and Marks new album
Second Winter have gone out and let me say,
as Molly would say, do yourself a favour and
get a copy. Its rather special!
Order it here

Many thanks to Steve!!
