Filmfare Awards (South) winners
The Black Lady was the cynosure of all eyes on this glitzy night. Shapely, shiny and absolutely tempting, she was the object of a mixed basket of emotions — joy, envy, regret, surprise. But if you thought it was only the stars who managed to snag her who were all smiles on the occasion, you got it wrong. Sure, winning did matter, but the 57th Idea Filmfare Awards 2009 (South) was more about camaraderie among the film fraternities of the four leading film industries in the south and relaxing with a bunch of high-voltage performances. While the presentation of the awards kept the audiences on the edge of their seats, the performances by the stars provided the much-needed relief. Sameera Reddy, one of the showstoppers of the evening, shimmied and sashayed to her hit Vaaranam Aayiram numbers, winner of the Best Actress award Padmapriya took the crowds down memory lane with her medley, while Devi Sri Prasad, the all-in-all performer, did much to cheer up the already pumped fans. As the evening progressed, the spirits only got higher with stars bonding with each other and congratulating themselves on their wins. This surely was a classic case of winners all! And the Black Lady goes to... 56th Annual South Filmfare Awards
The stars bade goodbye to the skies for a few hours to descend on Hyderabad on Friday evening. With sizzling performances from top actresses providing a treat to the audience and a galaxy of stars from throughout the country present, the Black Lady was clutched, petted and flattered to the fullest. The crème de la crème of tinsel town was present at the 56th Idea Filmfare Awards 2008 — South. With top celebrities for company, the audience was in for a night of scintillating dance numbers and awards galore, and of course, star-gazing! Vaaranam Aayiram (VA) and Subramanipuram — two films that shook the Kollywood BO last year — were aptly awarded on stage. While Subramanipuram won the Best Film and its director Sasikumar awarded the Best Directors Award, Suriya-starrer Vaaranam Aayiram almost swept the music category. Receiving the Best Actor Award, Suriya said, This is as much Gauthams award as it is mine. It was no ordinary task — to play two different roles — and VA was not an ordinary film at all. Doing the film and receiving this award is a very special feeling. A couple of minutes later, even as the crowd cheered, the actor raised his Black Lady and said, Jo, this is for you, to which the Mozhi actress gave an Im-so-proud-of-you smile. He went on to add, I see this award as a blessing from Kamal sir. Im a big fan of his and Im sure hes watching my progress. I did two characters in VA, which in itself was a big task. Just imagine a man playing 10 characters in a single ...
