At Crucial, we get a lot of questions about memory speed. Here are the main the differences between the speeds of the memory we sell on http://www.crucial.com/
First and foremost, all of these memory types are double data rate -- or DDR -- memory.
Those numbers represent the speed of memory your computer was designed to support.
Crucial no longer carries PC2100 (DDR266) memory, but we do have PC2700 (DDR333) memory and PC3200 (DDR400). They are backward-compatible with PC2100.
And what does that mean?
Generally speaking, you can safely add faster memory to a computer that was designed to run slower memory.
Keep in mind your system will operate at the speed of the slowest module or system component.
There's another thing to consider-- memory has to be the same type to work. For example, SDRAM cannot be mixed with DDR, and DDR cannot be mixed with DDR2.
We recommend that you use the Crucial Memory Advisor™ or System Scanner tools to find the right memory for your computer.
In computing, a computer bus operating with double data rate transfers data on both the rising and falling edges of the clock signal. This is also known as double pumped, dual-pumped, and double transition. The term toggle mode is used in the context of NAND flash memory.
The simplest way to design a clocked electronic circuit is to make it perform one transfer per full cycle of a clock signal. This, however, requires that the clock signal changes twice per transfer, while the data lines change at most once per transfer. When operating at a high bandwidth, signal integrity limitations constrain the clock frequency. Taking a look at how increasing system memory frequency effects gaming performance with a descrete GPU (in this case, a ASUS AMD Radeon R7 360)
DDR RAM is short for "Double Data Rate Random Access Memory". Virtually all computers use system ram but graphics cards typically have their own DDR ram built into the card. So why would overclocking the system RAM have any effect on game FPS?
Graphics cards 5+ years ago often times didn't have more than 1GB of ram, if that. Game engines were written to use system memory over GPU memory and didn't often take advantage of the memory built into the graphics card so system RAM would end up being the bottleneck.

This technique has been used for microprocessor front side busses, Ultra-3 SCSI, graphics RAM (the AGP bus and GDDR), main memory (both RDRAM and DDR1 through DDR4), and the HyperTransport bus on AMD's Athlon 64 processors. It is more recently being used for other systems with high data transfer speed requirements – as an example, for the output of analog-to-digital converters (ADCs).

The Algorithm
The Algorithm is the musical project of French musician Rémi Gallego (born October 7, 1989). Gallego is from Perpignan and his style is a combination of electronic music with features of progressive metal and djent. Gallego chose the name The Algorithm to highlight the music's complexity and its electronic nature.
History
Early years (2009–2010)
After the demise of his former band Dying Breath, Rémi Gallego decided in 2009 to look for potential members for a band that focused on mathcore, which came as an inspiration from The Dillinger Escape Plan. After a futile search for new members, with the help of his guitar and a DAW, Gallego began to produce his own music.
In December 2009 and July 2010, he published the two demos "The Doppler Effect" and "CRITICAL.ERROR", which were / released via his own website for free download. Towards the end of 2010, he announced that he was working on a new EP named "Identity" (it was never completed). Also, he was preparing for his first live appearances.

Short screen capture of an interactive, large-screen installation shown at Nike Stadium Paris throughout February/March 2013. Approached with the brief to artistically re-interpret Nike+ running data of 10 selected runners in a Flyknit inspired aesthetic, I decided to use realtime rendering techniques (ray marching) to create a macro view of intertwining fibres in an abstract, fluid environment, moving along the trails of the collected GPS data. At the same time the runner's changing heart rate is estimated and sonified from the momentary track stats and relevant biological information. Users can switch tracks, change colour schemes and manipulate camera angles & zoom at any time. A scaleless map of the entire track with the current position highlighted is displayed as 3D overlay. Camera depth-of-field, soft shadows and HDR lighting were needed to create the macro aesthetic. This was realised using an OpenCL & GLSL voxel-tree raymarching framework I've been working on initially for research purposes since last summer and which is currently being developed further as part of http://thi.ng. Technical notes: For the installation in Paris, the software was deployed on a MacPro w/ Radeon 5790 gfx card, which delivers an average ~28fps at HD720 and at double voxel resolutions than shown here. However, this video has been recorded on a MBP w/ a lower spec GeForce GT330M and the lack of VRAM results in lower voxel resolutions. Apart from the 3D map overlay, the render setup does not use a single mesh. Instead all volumes are submitted as specially encoded 3D textures... This is also known as double pumped, dual-pumped, and double transition. The term toggle mode is used in the context of NAND flash memory. The simplest way to design a clocked electronic circuit is to make it perform one transfer per full cycle of a clock signal. Taking a look at how increasing system memory frequency effects gaming performance with a descrete GPU (in this case, a ASUS AMD Radeon R7 360) DDR RAM is short for "Double Data Rate Random Access Memory". Virtually all computers use system ram but graphics cards typically have their own DDR ram built into the card. So why would overclocking the system RAM have any effect on game FPS? Graphics cards 5+ years ago often times didn't have more than 1GB of ram, if that. I was very pleased with the results, although there are some bugs that need to be fixed. Every time the camera goes to "Auto power off", I had to set the RAW video resolution again. Taking a look at how increasing system memory frequency effects gaming performance with a descrete GPU (in this case, a ASUS AMD Radeon R7 360)
DDR RAM is short for "Double Data Rate Random Access Memory". Virtually all computers use system ram but graphics cards typically have their own DDR ram built into the card. So why would overclocking the system RAM have any effect on game FPS?
Graphics cards 5+ years ago often times didn't have more than 1GB of ram, if that. Game engines were written to use system memory over GPU memory and didn't often take advantage of the memory built into the graphics card so system RAM would end up being the bottleneck.

Short screen capture of an interactive, large-screen installation shown at Nike Stadium Paris throughout February/March 2013.
Approached with the brief to artistically re-interpret Nike+ running data of 10 selected runners in a Flyknit inspired aesthetic, I decided to use realtime rendering techniques (ray marching) to create a macro view of intertwining fibres in an abstract, fluid environment, moving along the trails of the collected GPS data. At the same time the runner's changing heart rate is estimated and sonified from the momentary track stats and relevant biological information. Users can switch tracks, change colour schemes and manipulate camera angles & zoom at any time. A scaleless map of the entire track with the current position highlighted is displayed as 3D overlay.
Camera depth-of-field, soft shadows and HDR lighting were needed to create the macro aesthetic. This was realised using an OpenCL & GLSL voxel-tree raymarching framework I've been working on initially for research purposes since last summer and which is currently being developed further as part of http://thi.ng.
Technical notes:
For the installation in Paris, the software was deployed on a MacPro w/ Radeon 5790 gfx card, which delivers an average ~28fps at HD720 and at double voxel resolutions than shown here. However, this video has been recorded on a MBP w/ a lower spec GeForce GT330M and the lack of VRAM results in lower voxel resolutions. Apart from the 3D map overlay, the render setup does not use a single mesh. Instead all volumes are submitted as specially encoded 3D textures... Installation software & UI developed with Cinder (http://libcinder.org).

Picture Profiles can create different looks in the camera; you can check out the ones we created for the F3 here. You may have wondered how to get these looks from your computer to the camera – fortunately, the process is fairly easy.
There are two ways to load Picture Profiles into the PMW-F3. You can import only one select file, or you can load a number of profiles into the camera at once (download a zip file of all the AbelCine custom profiles here). For years now, AbelCine has been supplying our customers with scene files for their cameras. The Sony PMW-F3 is no exception. Picture Profiles can create different looks in the camera; you can check out the ones we created for the F3 here. You may have wondered how to get these looks from your computer to the camera – fortunately, the process is fairly easy.
There are two ways to load Picture Profiles into the PMW-F3. You can import only one select file, or you can load a number of profiles into the camera at once (download a zip file of all the AbelCine custom profiles here). In this talk Dr Florian Heinemann (CEO of Rocket Internet) shares his insights into the ways that a good business analytics concept is essential to your growth.
Florian’s message from his presentation at HackFwd’s Build 0.8 is straightforward: understand who your key customers are, the ones who are responsible for the highest lifetime value, and tailor your product around these people. The execution of this idea, however, takes a lot of effort. Start collecting business analytics data from day one, he says, and put your smartest person on to the job of understanding it.
The greatest difficulty most startups encounter during their growth period is determining which customers will push you to the next level of profitability, and how you can reach them. Business analytics is the key to answering these questions. At the outset, it’s rare to know exactly who your customers are. Essentially, every sale is a good one and every new customer is to be valued. But this isn’t a strategy that leads to long-term growth. The key is to determine the total lifetime value for each referral from each channel. Only when you have this information at your fingertips can you determine where you should be placing your marketing spend.
“Early in the process you need to have a really good business analytics concept in place to understand who your key customers are... right from the very beginning,” says Florian. He points out that you need three to five months of data in order to carry out good analysis, so even if you can’t devote time to analytics from day one, you should be collecting as much data as possible.
“In early stages test out every channel possible – even offline – and make it as measurable as possible,” says Florian. “We never do anything that we’re not able to measure.” Too often, he adds, startups make the mistake of thinking that viral marketing doesn’t cost anything so it doesn’t need to be measured. He points out that this is wrong for two reasons: firstly, you need to know if the viral strategy is successful; and secondly, viral marketing requires input from the people who make the viral content and who start the initial wave of sharing. If the cost, and the benefits, of a viral campaign are hidden you risk throwing money away. Florian also points out that in the worst case scenario – if the viral campaign doesn’t take off – you need to have early warning of this. Business analytics will tell you where the conversion chain is coming apart.
Florian gives the example of eDarling, the online dating site. At launch, eDarling was aiming for a lead-to-sale ratio of 12-15 percent: that is, 12-15 percent of people who filled in a questionnaire would, it was hoped, become eDarling subscribers. In the first few months, eDarling had lead-to-sale ratio of just 0.5 percent. Thankfully, the excellent business analytics system showed exactly where the users were leaving the conversion chain. They used this data to carry out some user research and discovered that they needed to tweak the matchmaking algorithm. Without good business analytics, eDarling would not be employing 250 people at the end of 2011.
Florian takes time in this video to explain how use cases are central to the development of your marketing and analytics strategy. He also talks about the different metrics, such as conversion rate and customer lifetime value, and what they can tell you about the relative performance of different channels. He demonstrates how you can more than double the value of your marketing spend by identifying your most profitable channels rather than concentrating on cost per customer.
Florian also reminds us of the importance of CRM as a way of building customer value. Collecting business analytics data from the outset will help you to design new use cases that are nonintrusive and intelligent, and that will make your customers eager to reactivate their relationship with you.

The playback should be 1:1 pixel so that requires a monitor that is 1920x1080 or larger and don't use fit to screen as that will re-size the image and introduce aliasing and re-size artifacts. If your monitor is smaller than 1920x1080 set the player to 50% or half size image so you see it 960x540 so the resize is an exact half size, you may see some added aliasing that way but the blur from odd ratio resize should be avoided, maybe.

You can google Kinefinity (tm)'s KineRAW (tm) cameras to read more about their camera development, I am not involved in sales of the cameras, just trying to work with them to support their and other companies DNG recording Digital Cinema Cameras. You can google DANCAD3D (tm) to find my web site. If you see some 'ghost' marks on moving image parts that seems to be a compression artifact (?) from the making of a compressed video to upload here rather than in the original camera data. I will probably have some uncompressed frames from this video to email back if you are interested in seeing how the images would look on a 35mm film transfer or to be used as a source for Blu-ray or DCP for projection in a digital movie theater. The Camera shots 100% uncompressed, so there are can be some losses or banding and noise differences in the double compressed version you are viewing here.
Its best to view this video from 3x the image width so if you have a 36" monitor you should be about 9 to 12 feet away from the monitor to get the same angle of view that you would have in an art-house movie theater maybe. The playback should be 1:1 pixel so that requires a monitor that is 1920x1080 or larger and don't use fit to screen as that will re-size the image and introduce aliasing and re-size artifacts. If your monitor is smaller than 1920x1080 set the player to 50% or half size image so you see it 960x540 so the resize is an exact half size, you may see some added aliasing that way but the blur from odd ratio resize should be avoided, maybe.

Attention! This is a guide only for if you want the VERY EXPERIMENTAL and POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS autoboot version of the Magic Lantern Beta 2.0.3.
I was very pleased with the results, although there are some bugs that need to be fixed. Every time the camera goes to "Auto power off", I had to set the RAW video resolution again. The camera reset it to 0x0 (see the screen picture in my blog - www.teoriadacor.com).
I'm used to "zoom in" the image before I start shooting, so I can get a sharp focus. Well... Forget about that for now...The camera crash every time I tryed that, freezing the image... looks like a Windows critical error...lol
The free data space indicator, along with the time clock can be very usefull, but they insist to show over all the Canon menus (picture).
You must have some skills to instal the ML Alpha 2 in your camera. For me it looks like a genuine hacker operation! (It is, in fact). You will not simply download a file and put in your CF card. When you finished, you don't get exactly a movie archive as I though. So here it goes another laborious task. What you get is a bunch of RAW photos encapsuled in a single and unrecognizable file. You will need to get a program to transform this file into DNG files, where now you can color grade this images. In my case, I use Adobe bridge to pick one frame, give the proper color treatment by double clicking and opening the Camera RAW 7.0. Once you get satisfied with that, save it, return to Adobe Bridge, select all the frames and right click the "Develop setings/previous conversion" command. Then you need to transform the DNG files into something that your video editing program can recognize. Select all the DNG files in Bridge once again and goes to menu/tools/photoshop/image precessor. There you can choose how to convert this files in to tiff or jpeg were you can import as "image sequence" in Adobe Premiere. Viva! You finally get your RAW footage!
You can export as AVI uncompressed file, so you don't lose any information at all. But this 2 minute footage get a massive 5 gigabyte file. Then I decided to go for a H.264 with the maximum bit rate possible. and get a lightweight 223mb file.

Approached with the brief to artistically re-interpret Nike+ running data of 10 selected runners in a Flyknit inspired aesthetic, I decided to use realtime rendering techniques (ray marching) to create a macro view of intertwining fibres in an abstract, fluid environment, moving along the trails of the collected GPS data. In computing, a computer bus operating with double data rate transfers data on both the rising and falling edges of the clock signal. This is also known as double pumped, dual-pumped, and double transition. The term toggle mode is used in the context of NAND flash memory.
The simplest way to design a clocked electronic circuit is to make it perform one transfer per full cycle of a clock signal. This, however, requires that the clock signal changes twice per transfer, while the data lines change at most once per transfer. When operating at a high bandwidth, signal integrity limitations constrain the clock frequency. By using both edges of the clock, the data signals operate with the same limiting frequency, thereby doubling the data transmission rate.

Taking a look at how increasing system memory frequency effects gaming performance with a descrete GPU (in this case, a ASUS AMD Radeon R7 360)
DDR RAM is short for "Double Data Rate Random Access Memory". Virtually all computers use system ram but graphics cards typically have their own DDR ram built into the card. So why would overclocking the system RAM have any effect on game FPS?
Graphics cards 5+ years ago often times didn't have more than 1GB of ram, if that. Game engines were written to use system memory over GPU memory and didn't often take advantage of the memory built into the graphics card so system RAM would end up being the bottleneck.

Approached with the brief to artistically re-interpret Nike+ running data of 10 selected runners in a Flyknit inspired aesthetic, I decided to use realtime rendering techniques (ray marching) to create a macro view of intertwining fibres in an abstract, fluid environment, moving along the trails of the collected GPS data. At the same time the runner's changing heart rate is estimated and sonified from the momentary track stats and relevant biological information. Users can switch tracks, change colour schemes and manipulate camera angles & zoom at any time. A scaleless map of the entire track with the current position highlighted is displayed as 3D overlay.
Camera depth-of-field, soft shadows and HDR lighting were needed to create the macro aesthetic. This was realised using an OpenCL & GLSL voxel-tree raymarching framework I've been working on initially for research purposes since last summer and which is currently being developed further as part of http://thi.ng.
Technical notes:
For the installation in Paris, the software was deployed on a MacPro w/ Radeon 5790 gfx card, which delivers an average ~28fps at HD720 and at double voxel resolutions than shown here. However, this video has been recorded on a MBP w/ a lower spec GeForce GT330M and the lack of VRAM results in lower voxel resolutions. Apart from the 3D map overlay, the render setup does not use a single mesh. Instead all volumes are submitted as specially encoded 3D textures... Installation software & UI developed with Cinder (http://libcinder.org).

For years now, AbelCine has been supplying our customers with scene files for their cameras. The Sony PMW-F3 is no exception. Picture Profiles can create different looks in the camera; you can check out the ones we created for the F3 here. You may have wondered how to get these looks from your computer to the camera – fortunately, the process is fairly easy.
There are two ways to load Picture Profiles into the PMW-F3. You can import only one select file, or you can load a number of profiles into the camera at once (download a zip file of all the AbelCine custom profiles here). This is the sixth lens and shooting resolution test reel showing the use of a Kowa 3.5mm f/2.4 HR megapixel wide angle rectilinear C-mount lens LM3NC1M and Schneider 17mm f/0.95 2/3" C-mount lenses with with Tiffen Cir. Pola. filter on some shots using 4:3, 16:9, 2:1, and 2.35:1 over sample resolutions reduced and then pillar or letter boxed into 1920x1080. You can also see demo reels #A2, #B1, #C1, and #E1 etc. on my video page for anamorphic (Scope) and spherical (flat) shooting examples also for 2.35:1 wide screen shooting modes at 1828x1556 and 2592x1104 pixels resolution. I am testing various lenses for use in film-making projects using the Super8 format Digital Cinema Camera called the KineRAW-S8p (tm) made in Beijing China. This camera records fully uncompressed at various cinema aspect ratios and resolutions, this video was shot at 1920x1440x12bit@24.000fps (for 4:3), 2228x1252x12bit@24,000fps (for 16:9 or for 1.85:1 on 35mm print), 2400x1200x12bit@24.000fps (for 2:1), 2592x1104x12bit@24.000fps (for 2.35:1 letter boxed or 2.39:1 on DCP or 35mm print) with data rates of about up to 103MB/s to high speed SSD in the camera (data rate varies with the resolution being recorded). Shooting CinemaDNG can give freedom to the filmmaker to process the camera's sensor data as he likes in various software and can be one of the advantages of shooting True RAW, other so called raw cameras may not let you access the original sensor data in this way and force you to use their own code thereby possibly introducing loss of some of the original sensor data. The KineRAW-S8p (tm) prototype camera has two drive slots and can dump the SSD used for frame recording to a notebook HDD in the camera (for backup or to erase and re-use the SSD) so my setup was 60GB SSD and 500GB HDD for these lens test reels. The camera can take C mount, CS mount, and D mount (regular 8mm) lenses. The image area varies with the resolution mode, some modes are about Super8 size so C mount lenses made for Super8 cameras may be used. the frames were processed in a free program called DANCINEC.EXE (tm) that is on my web site for download and "beta-testing". The workflow was DNG to TIF, the TIF were edited in my 'freeish' DI/NLE/CC/MIX software DANCAD87.EXE (tm) and output as BMP frame set pillar-boxed 1920x1080, that was converted into a MPEG4v2 6000kbps AVI in VirtualDub (tm) and uploaded here. There is no stereo sound on this reel (see reel C1 for an example of sync sound shot with the KineRAW-S8p (tm)), but the camera can record sync sound 48000 samples/second stereo, and has an auto-slate beep, slate information stored in each DNG frame's meta-data, and Date+TOD plus SMPTE TIME CODE for sync with an external sound recorder or SMPTE slate etc. The camera used is a pre-production prototype that I am testing for use with my free de-Bayer software I am developing for use with CinemaDNG recording uncompressed Digital Cinema Cameras like Aaton (tm), Acam dII (tm), SI-2K (tm), Kinor-2K (tm), digital Bolex (tm), Blackmagic Design Cinema Camera (tm), KineRAW-S35 (tm) (in second prototype in house testing now in China), planed KineRAW-S16 (tm), planed KineRAW-S8 (tm) (production model of the camera being tested here) and for use in my own filmmaking projects. In this talk Dr Florian Heinemann (CEO of Rocket Internet) shares his insights into the ways that a good business analytics concept is essential to your growth.
Florian’s message from his presentation at HackFwd’s Build 0.8 is straightforward: understand who your key customers are, the ones who are responsible for the highest lifetime value, and tailor your product around these people. The execution of this idea, however, takes a lot of effort. Start collecting business analytics data from day one, he says, and put your smartest person on to the job of understanding it.
The greatest difficulty most startups encounter during their growth period is determining which customers will push you to the next level of profitability, and how you can reach them. Business analytics is the key to answering these questions. At the outset, it’s rare to know exactly who your customers are. Essentially, every sale is a good one and every new customer is to be valued. But this isn’t a strategy that leads to long-term growth. The key is to determine the total lifetime value for each referral from each channel. Only when you have this information at your fingertips can you determine where you should be placing your marketing spend.
“Early in the process you need to have a really good business analytics concept in place to understand who your key customers are... right from the very beginning,” says Florian. He points out that you need three to five months of data in order to carry out good analysis, so even if you can’t devote time to analytics from day one, you should be collecting as much data as possible.
“In early stages test out every channel possible – even offline – and make it as measurable as possible,” says Florian. “We never do anything that we’re not able to measure.” Too often, he adds, startups make the mistake of thinking that viral marketing doesn’t cost anything so it doesn’t need to be measured. He points out that this is wrong for two reasons: firstly, you need to know if the viral strategy is successful; and secondly, viral marketing requires input from the people who make the viral content and who start the initial wave of sharing. If the cost, and the benefits, of a viral campaign are hidden you risk throwing money away. Florian also points out that in the worst case scenario – if the viral campaign doesn’t take off – you need to have early warning of this. Business analytics will tell you where the conversion chain is coming apart.
Florian gives the example of eDarling, the online dating site. At launch, eDarling was aiming for a lead-to-sale ratio of 12-15 percent: that is, 12-15 percent of people who filled in a questionnaire would, it was hoped, become eDarling subscribers. In the first few months, eDarling had lead-to-sale ratio of just 0.5 percent. Thankfully, the excellent business analytics system showed exactly where the users were leaving the conversion chain. They used this data to carry out some user research and discovered that they needed to tweak the matchmaking algorithm. Without good business analytics, eDarling would not be employing 250 people at the end of 2011.
Florian takes time in this video to explain how use cases are central to the development of your marketing and analytics strategy. He also talks about the different metrics, such as conversion rate and customer lifetime value, and what they can tell you about the relative performance of different channels. He demonstrates how you can more than double the value of your marketing spend by identifying your most profitable channels rather than concentrating on cost per customer.
Florian also reminds us of the importance of CRM as a way of building customer value. Collecting business analytics data from the outset will help you to design new use cases that are nonintrusive and intelligent, and that will make your customers eager to reactivate their relationship with you.

Its best to view this video from 3x the image width so if you have a 36" monitor you should be about 9 to 12 feet away from the monitor to get the same angle of view that you would have in an art-house movie theater maybe. The playback should be 1:1 pixel so that requires a monitor that is 1920x1080 or larger and don't use fit to screen as that will re-size the image and introduce aliasing and re-size artifacts. If your monitor is smaller than 1920x1080 set the player to 50% or half size image so you see it 960x540 so the resize is an exact half size, you may see some added aliasing that way but the blur from odd ratio resize should be avoided, maybe.

This is the forth lens test reel showing the use of a Kowa 3.5mm f/2.4 HR megapixel wide angle rectilinear C-mount lens LM3NC1M with with Tiffen ND0.9 density on some shots using 1920x1440 resolution cropped to 1920x817 then letter-boxed into 1920x1080. You can also see demo reels #A2 #B1, and #C1 on my video page for anamorphic (Scope) and spherical (flat) shooting examples also for 2.35:1 wide screen shooting modes at 1828x1556 and 2592x1104 pixels resolution. I am testing various lenses for use in film-making projects using the Super8 format Digital Cinema Camera called the KineRAW-S8p (tm) made in Beijing China. This camera records fully uncompressed at various cinema aspect ratios and resolutions, this video was shot at 1920x1440x12bit@24.000fps 99.5MB/s to high speed SSD in the camera (data rate varies with the resolution being recorded). 1920x1440 is the standard TV 4:3 aspect ratio a bit larger than academy 2K 35mm movie film scanner pixel resolution of the Kodak Cineon (tm) film scanner (1828x1332) pixel resolution used for making Digital Intermediate (DI) for movies like what you may have seen in movie theaters. The KineRAW-S8p (tm) prototype camera has two drive slots and can dump the SSD used for frame recording to a notebook HDD in the camera (for backup or to erase and re-use the SSD) so my setup was 60GB SSD and 500GB HDD for these lens test reels. The camera can take C mount, CS mount, and D mount (regular 8mm) lenses. The image area varies with the resolution mode, some modes are about Super8 size so C mount lenses made for Super8 cameras may be used. the frames were processed in a free program called DANCINEC.EXE (tm) that is on my web site for download and "beta-testing". The workflow was DNG to TIF, the TIF were edited in my 'freeish' DI/NLE/CC/MIX software DANCAD87.EXE (tm) and output as BMP frame set letterboxed 1920x1080, that was converted into a MPEG4v2 6000kbps AVI in VirtualDub (tm) and uploaded here. There is no stereo sound on this reel (see reel C1 for an example of sync sound shot with the KineRAW-S8p (tm)), but the camera can record sync sound 48000 samples/second stereo, and has an auto-slate beep, slate information stored in each DNG frame's meta-data, and Date+TOD plus SMPTE TIME CODE for sync with an external sound recorder or SMPTE slate etc. The camera used is a pre-production prototype that I am testing for use with my free de-Bayer software I am developing for use with CinemaDNG recording uncompressed Digital Cinema Cameras like Aaton (tm), Acam dII (tm), SI-2K (tm), Kinor-2K (tm), digital Bolex (tm), Blackmagic Design Cinema Camera (tm), KineRAW-S35 (tm) (in second prototype in house testing now in China), planed KineRAW-S16 (tm), planed KineRAW-S8 (tm) (production model of the camera being tested here) and for use in my own filmmaking projects. Attention! This is a guide only for if you want the VERY EXPERIMENTAL and POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS autoboot version of the Magic Lantern Beta 2.0.3.
I was very pleased with the results, although there are some bugs that need to be fixed. Every time the camera goes to "Auto power off", I had to set the RAW video resolution again. The camera reset it to 0x0 (see the screen picture in my blog - www.teoriadacor.com).
I'm used to "zoom in" the image before I start shooting, so I can get a sharp focus. Well... Forget about that for now...The camera crash every time I tryed that, freezing the image... looks like a Windows critical error...lol
The free data space indicator, along with the time clock can be very usefull, but they insist to show over all the Canon menus (picture).
You must have some skills to instal the ML Alpha 2 in your camera. For me it looks like a genuine hacker operation! (It is, in fact). You will not simply download a file and put in your CF card. Crazy isnt it? It took me a whole afternoon to get the things working. It worth!
When you finished, you don't get exactly a movie archive as I though. So here it goes another laborious task. What you get is a bunch of RAW photos encapsuled in a single and unrecognizable file. You will need to get a program to transform this file into DNG files, where now you can color grade this images. In my case, I use Adobe bridge to pick one frame, give the proper color treatment by double clicking and opening the Camera RAW 7.0. Once you get satisfied with that, save it, return to Adobe Bridge, select all the frames and right click the "Develop setings/previous conversion" command. Then you need to transform the DNG files into something that your video editing program can recognize. Select all the DNG files in Bridge once again and goes to menu/tools/photoshop/image precessor. There you can choose how to convert this files in to tiff or jpeg were you can import as "image sequence" in Adobe Premiere. Viva! You finally get your RAW footage!
You can export as AVI uncompressed file, so you don't lose any information at all. But this 2 minute footage get a massive 5 gigabyte file. Then I decided to go for a H.264 with the maximum bit rate possible. and get a lightweight 223mb file.

Maxing out my milling machine
Have your annotations on!! Old&traditional; machine versus modern tools and speeds! In all cuts the RPM is 1600, Cutting speed is 260m/min(860SFM), table feed is 1600mm/min(63"/min) and feed per tooth is 0.25mm/0.01". Only the depth of cut will change. Continuing with the Coromill 300. This time with more than double the cutting data! Not sure if the winner is the tool or the mill but it's a pretty close match! According to Kennametal milling power calculator, the metal removal rate at the last cut is 154.6 cm3/min, power requirement 2.4kW, power at motor 3kW (0.8 eff. factor). So the 3kW motor is really struggling here but it is doing what it is promised to do! This all is assuming that the material is 1018 (S355). No real info what it is but no softer than 1018.

The Double-Data-Rate DDR memory channel is found in a wide range of applications: smartphones, tablets, notebooks, desktops, and servers. The famous DDR3 can reach 2.133GBps per cupper lane at 1.5V SSTL15 technology, while DDR4 starting at 2.4GBps per lane with 1.2V POD12 technology trying to hit 3.2GBps. How can a designer find out the key enablers to make DDR3 and DDR4 channels work successfully? Can we depend on trial and error to meet the target?

At the first half of the video I go over the main components which are the Flash, NVRAM, Route-Processor and ASIC from the perspective of a CCNA. On the CCNA exam you do not need to know such details, but it helps you to be able to visualize the data flow, and to give you a rough idea about the hardware.
In the secon half of the video I go over the mainboard components in deep detail, and explain their functionality within the Switch. This part is going way beyond CCNA, instead it caters for component-level repair technicians.

In all cuts the RPM is 1600, Cutting speed is 260m/min(860SFM), table feed is 1600mm/min(63"/min) and feed per tooth is 0.25mm/0.01". Only the depth of cut will change.
Continuing with the Coromill 300. This time with more than double the cutting data! Not sure if the winner is the tool or the mill but it's a pretty close match!
According to Kennametal milling power calculator, the metal removal rate at the last cut is 154.6 cm3/min, power requirement 2.4kW, power at motor 3kW (0.8 eff. factor). So the 3kW motor is really struggling here but it is doing what it is promised to do! This all is assuming that the material is 1018 (S355). No real info what it is but no softer than 1018.
