Forbidden Images (higher resolution)
Forbidden Images is not in the Public Domain and is registered with the US Copyright Office. The music used is a public domain midi file from archive.org, titled musicbox. www.archive.org I made this film for the 2007 edition of the 72 Hour Film Fest in Frederick, MD. These scenes come from a reel of 35mm nitrate that was discovered in the projection booth of an old movie theater in Pennsylvania. The projectionist spliced together this reel of banned, censored scenes to meet local moral standards or for late night, "personal" screenings. This is a true reel of Cinema Paradisio.

The Hubble Deep Field: The Most Important Image Ever Taken
Get astronomy tweets! twitter.com In 2003, the Hubble Space Telescope took the image of a millenium, an image that shows our place in the universe. Anyone who understands what this image represents, is forever changed by it. How Can the universe be 78 billion LY across? I explain that in this article: www.deepastronomy.com There is also a link to a science paper on the topic, that paper actually states 96 billion LY. arxiv.org

From Love to Bingo Getty Images AlmapBBDO
Patient research work involving more than 5 thousand photographs resulted in a 1 minute film that AlmapBBDO created to advertise Getty Images, the world leading image database for creating and distributing visual contents. The film is surprising when showing 873 images in 15 images per second, sufficient speed to transform the series into a video that, without any text, tells a beautiful story. All photos, without any exceptions, are from the Getty Images archives. Copywriter Sophie Schoenburg and art director Marcos Kotlhar worked 6 months researching images, improving the script and building each scene so they would not only be understood, but would also touch viewers. Sometimes, for example, a scene would look perfect on paper, but the images chosen to depict it were not sufficient or did not perfectly match up to offer the right movement and sense. And hence the research had to be restarted. The film was directed by Cisma, via Paranoid BR, along with Marcos Kotlhar, the art director at the agency. For this creation team, the purpose was to adhere to the concept that Getty Images has so many images that anybody is capable of telling any story they want by only using their archives. In the film "Do amor ao Bingo em 873 imagens" [From love to Bingo in 873 images], a storyteller in the corner of the screen describes the images used. The Getty Images logo appears at the end of the story, but the storyteller continues to turn until reaching the exact number of images in the ...

Planet Earth's Northern Hemisphere
A timelapse of Planet Earth from Electro-L, a geostationary satellite orbiting 40000km above the Earth. The satellite creates a 121 megapixel image every 30 minutes with four visible and infrared light wavelengths. The infrared light appears orange in these images, and shows vegetation. The images were obtained beginning on May 14th, 2011 and end on May 20th. The images are the largest whole disk images of our planet, the resolution is 1 kilometer per pixel. The images are "masked" by a circular barrier that blocks out the light of the Sun and other stars. This is to prevent damage to the camera by exposure to direct sunlight. The images have been interpolated (blended) to create a smooth animation. Images Copyright NTs OMZ. CALIFORNIA GIRLS The Beach Boys MM images
The Top hit of 1965 by The Beach Boys, and images of Hollywood Legend Marilyn Monroe. Marilyn knew how to project the joy of living, and happiness. She liked the professional touch, and worked with the best photographers . Her photos are everywhere. She had a zest for life... Selected quotes from Lee Strasberg´s eulogy, August 1962: "Marilyn Monroe was a legend. In her own lifetime she created a myth of what a poor girl from a deprived background could attain. For the entire world she became a symbol of the eternal feminine." "Others were as physically beautiful as she was, but there was obviously something more in her, something that people saw and recognized in her performances and with which they identified. She had a luminous quality - a combination of wistfulness, radiance, yearning - to set her apart and yet make everyone wish to be a part of it, to share in the childish naivete which was so shy and yet so vibrant.". Song: CALIFORNIA GIRLS The Beach Boys, vocal Music and Lyrics: Brian Wilson and Mike Love From the Lp: Summer Days ( and Summer Nights) (1965) Images of Marilyn Monroe by the following photographers: Ed Feingersh Cecil Beaton Sam Shaw Andre' de Dienes Joseph Jasgur Peter Mangone ( 14 yrs. old in 1955) Milton H. Portrait Lighting for Photography and Video!
There are several lighting positions that photographers have developed over the years. People like George Hurrell, who used tungsten to shoot stars, used these lighting positions. Learn to identify what a butterfly or Rembrandt light is. Knowing these positions, and where the light placed to create them, will help you see how photographers light their images. These are departure points from which you will create your own look and direction. Its hard to depart from someplace you have never been there. This will teach you the basics and give you a good foundation to build on. This video is not as slick as some of the others we have done but it has great basic instructions on portrait lighting. (Don't miss the ending its the most exciting part!)

NASA | New Eye on the Sun Delivers Stunning First Images
This compilation of video shows some of the first imagery and data sent back from NASA's Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO). Most of the imagery comes from SDO's AIA instrument, and different colors are used to represent different temperatures, a common technique for observing solar features. SDO sees the entire disk of the Sun in extremely high spacial and temporal resolution and this allows scientists to zoom in on notable events like flares, waves, and sunspots. Enjoy the imagery and post in the comments the parts you found most captivating. To learn more about the SDO mission, visit: sdo.gsfc.nasa.gov To find these videos for download, check out www.nasa.gov svs.gsfc.nasa.gov Launched on Feb. 11, 2010, SDO is the most advanced spacecraft ever designed to study the sun. During its five-year mission, it will examine the sun's magnetic field and also provide a better understanding of the role the sun plays in Earth's atmospheric chemistry and climate. Since launch, engineers have been conducting testing and verification of the spacecrafts components. Now fully operational, SDO will provide images with clarity 10 times better than high-definition television and will return more comprehensive science data faster than any other solar observing spacecraft. Hubble Deep Field: The Most Imp. Image Ever Taken (Redux)
This is the latest incarnation of the HDF video. The narration has been edited to include research from a paper in Physical Review Letters (2004) which puts the size of the universe at 46.5 billion light years, not 78 billion as I originally stated. In the video narration, I round that value up to 47 billion light years. I also took out Numa Numa guy.
