Music Masters, Frank Sylvano - "I'm Saving Saturday Night For You" (1927)
"I'm Saving Saturday Night For You" Performed by Morgan-Clark Music Masters Vocal Refrain by Frank Sylvano Recorded September 6, 1927 The only information I could find on the Music Masters was a single recording session for Brunswick in 1927. Only the vocalist, Frank Sylvano is identified. It's quite likely that the musicians were members of the Jules Herbuveaux Palmer House Victorians who also recorded the same day. Sylvano at the time was a vocalist with the orchestra. There's not much biographical information available for Frank Sylvano. He was active in the 1920s and early 1930s, mostly in Chicago. He started out playing banjo with the Charlie Straight Orchestra in 1926. He must have been freelancing since he never seemed to stay too long with any one band. He's mostly noted as a vocalist with several dance bands and made recordings with Gene Rodemich, Bennie Krueger, Ben Bernie, Isham Jones, Abe Lyman and he even recorded under his own name as Frank Sylvano and His Orchestra. There is another song with the same title recorded by Cliff Carlisle, a sort of country blues yodel from the 1930s. This recording is a completely different song with the same title.

ROCKEFELLER INSANITY TRIAL - DR. BUZZ
Dr. J. Buzz Von Ornsteiner aka Dr. Buzz discusses his psychological insights on the "Fake Rockefeller Trial" which aired on television. Christian Gerhartsreiter posed as Clark Rockefeller, a member of the famed Rockefeller family, for 15 years until he acknowledged his true identity following his August 2008 arrest on charges he kidnapped his daughter and allegedly assaulted the social worker who was supervising his first post-divorce visit with his child. His defense attorneys have argued he was insane at the time of the incident. A jury of eight women and four men found Christian Carl Gerhartsreiter, 48, guilty of the kidnapping and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon. Judge Frank M. Gaziano noted that Gerhartsreiter showed little regard for the impact his actions had on his former wife and daughter. He said he also considered the defendant's long history of deceptive and manipulative behavior, including the use of multiple aliases. Gerhartstreiter, who was born in Germany and is in the US illegally, faces removal by immigration authorities when he completes his sentence. In addition, his lawyer said, authorities in Los Angeles, California, have convened a grand jury to invest igate his possible role in the 1985 deaths of a couple who rented a carriage house to him. Prosecutor David Deakin called the insanity diagnosis "preposterous." He argued, "This is not a case about madness. It's a case about manipulation."

President Preckwinkle Announces Roughly $6.8 Million in Energy Savings
As part of her ongoing commitment to greater energy efficiency, Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle announced today that by the end of 2011 taxpayers will have saved well over $1 million dollars in electricity savings through the efforts of the ongoing partnership with Cook County Government and ComEd. As a result of "Wattage Wars," a competition between nine County buildings to reduce energy usage and save taxpayer dollars, Preckwinkle anticipates savings of more than $1 million by the end of the calendar year. "Wattage Wars" has already yielded more than $417000 from March to June of 2011, with officials still analyzing the data from more recent months. Preckwinkle praised the efforts of her office so far and called on continued efforts to lower energy costs and produce savings. "By taking a comprehensive approach in our Cook County facilities, we have successfully lowered energy usage across the board and generated significant savings for tax payers," President Preckwinkle said. "I want to thank ComEd for partnering with my administration in our efforts to create a more sustainable and cost-effective workplace. We have made significant progress and I'm pleased that we are projected to save taxpayers over $1 million by the end of the calendar year. This is just another step towards changing the culture of Cook County government." The total savings for all County facilities' electricity usage, those who did and did not participate in "Wattage Wars," is more than ...

Tommy Dorsey ft Frank Sinatra & the Pied Pipers - Stardust (A Pied Pipers Tribute) 1956
"Stardust" is an American popular song composed in 1927 by Hoagy Carmichael with lyrics added in 1929 by Mitchell Parish. Originally titled "Star Dust", Carmichael first recorded the song at the Gennett Records studio in Richmond, Indiana. The song, "a song about a song about love", played in an idiosyncratic melody in medium tempo, became an American standard, and is considered one of the most recorded songs of the 20th century, with over 1500 total recordings. In 2004, Carmichael's original 1927 recording of the song was one of 50 recordings chosen by the Library of Congress to be added to the National Recording Registry. Video including lyrics commemorates the past and present members of the group Pied Pipers: John Huddleston, Chuck Lowry, Hal Hopper, Bud Hervey, George Tait, Woody Newbury, Dick Whittinghill, Jo Stafford, Lou Hust, John Huddleson, George Tait, Billy Wilson, Tommy Dorsey & His Orchestra, Frank Sinatra, Clark Yocum, June Hutton, Louanne Hogan, Lee Gotch, Jana Ecklund, Alan Davies, Sue Allen, Jeanne McManus, Ralph Brewster, Nancy Knorr, Christ Sanders, Kevin Kennard & Don Lucas! And now the purple dusk of twilight time Steals across the meadows of my heart High up in the sky the little stars climb Always reminding me that we're apart You wander down the lane and far away Leaving me a song that will not die Love is now the stardust of yesterday The music of the years gone by Sometimes I wonder why I spend The lonely night dreaming of a song The melody ...

'There Are Such Things' - Frank Sinatra (1940)
Frank's first hit with the Dorsey Band backed by the Pied Pipers. In 1939(Jo Stafford, her then husband John Huddleston, Chuck Lowry and Billy Wilson are asked to join Tommy Dorsey's orchestra in Chicago. Not much later, another young singer is hired to replace Dorsey's "boy vocalist" Jack Leonard. His name? None other than young, skinny Frank Sinatra, with whom the Pipers record quite a few hits during their time with TD's orchestra. The most memorable among these are chart-toppers "I'll never smile again" and "There are such things" as well as "Stardust", "It started all over again", "Oh! Look at me now" and two-sided "Let's get away from it all" (latter two with Connie Haines). The group's first commercial recording with their new boss is made on February 1st 1940: "What can I say after I say I'm sorry?", an oldie from the 1920's. In April that same year Billy Wilson is replaced by Clark Yocum, who doubles on guitar. Lead singer Jo Stafford also makes a number of solorecords with TD, of which the first is "For you", released on a 12-inch disc. In the summer of 1941 she has a big hit with the spiritual-like "Yes indeed", a duet with Dorsey arranger Sy Oliver. While part of TD's organization, the group appears in 3 movies: "Las Vegas Nights" (1941), "Ship Ahoy" (1942) and "DuBarry was a lady" (1942, released in '43). In "DuBarry..." they team up with Dick Haymes, who replaced Frank Sinatra in early September '42.

Born in Ottawa, Ontario, in 1941 to parents of Lebanese Christian descent who owned a local restaurant, Anka proved a child prodigy, beginning his show business life at the age of 12 as an impressionist. By the age of 14, he was stealing the family car to drive to amateur singing contests in nearby Hull, Quebec, and writing his own songs. His first single, "I Confess," appeared on the Riviera subsidiary of Jules and Joe Bihari's RPM label. While on a trip to New York with a group of friends who sang as the Rover Boys, Anka gained an audition with ABC producer Don Costa, and sang his own composition, "Diana," an ode to a former babysitter. Costa liked what he heard, recorded the teenager, and watched as the single hit number one on both sides of the Atlantic later in 1957, eventually selling a reported ten million copies worldwide. Anka placed four songs in the Top 20 a year later, including "You Are My Destiny" and "Crazy Love," tempering the all-out rebellion of rock & roll with songs that questioned parental authority rather than promoting outright ...
