CrossTalk: Iranoia
The international community has numerously voiced its support for nuclear proliferation, especially when dealing with a regional power like Iran. However, some countries go further than that. Prominent scholars and officials voice the possibility of war with Iran, and in some cases even promote it. Is this a rational approach? How justified would this war be if there is still no evidence that Iran has nuclear weapons in its arsenal? And who is being more rational, Western powers or Iran, when it comes to their geopolitical interests? CrossTalking with Patrick Clawson, Gawdat Bahgat and Gilbert Doctorow. Pepe Escobar: How the West could learn from Lula's way of playing politics. As much as Washington was visibly annoyed, it could do nothing to prevent Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad from visiting Brazil's President Lula as part of his 5-country African and South American tour. Feathers could not but be ruffled, argues Pepe Escobar, at the sight of closer cooperation between the biggest Latin American regional power and one of the Middle East's top regional powers. The warm embrace Lula ofered Ahmadinejad will echo across the developing world as a sign that South/South diplomacy play may have more merits than the heavy-handed US/European approach.

TURKEY - ISTANBUL,TAKSIM SQUARE
Turkey (Turkish: Türkiye), known officially as the Republic of Turkey ( Türkiye Cumhuriyeti (help·info)), is a Eurasian country that stretches across the Anatolian peninsula in western Asia and Thrace (Rumelia) in the Balkan region of southeastern Europe. Turkey is bordered by eight countries: Bulgaria to the northwest; Greece to the west; Georgia to the northeast; Armenia, Azerbaijan (the exclave of Nakhichevan) and Iran to the east; and Iraq and Syria to the southeast. To its southwest lie the Mediterranean Sea and Cyprus; to the west, the Aegean Sea and Archipelago; and to the north, the Black Sea. Separating Anatolia and Thrace are the Sea of Marmara and the Turkish Straits (the Bosporus and the Dardanelles). In Western tradition, these bodies of water taken together have been considered the border between Europe and Asia, thereby making Turkey transcontinental. Due to its location astride two continents, Turkey's culture blends Eastern and Western elements. Geopolitically, it has been a dominant regional power for over seven centuries. Today's Turkey is the successor to the Ottoman Empire. Turkey is a democratic, secular, unitary, constitutional republic whose political system was established in 1923 under the leadership of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, following the fall of the Ottoman Empire in the aftermath of World War I. Since then, Turkey has become increasingly integrated with the West through membership in organizations such as the Council of Europe, NATO, OECD ...

Beyond Primacy Rethinking American Grand Strategy and the Command of the Commons Tuesday, September 13, 2011 - 12:15pm - 1:45pm Mounting concern over America's long-term fiscal position may bring about sizable cuts in US military spending. But these cuts need not compromise US national security if the United States makes the right adjustments in its military posture and grand strategy. In a new paper for the American Strategy Program, Sameer Lalwani and Joshua Shifrinson argue that the United States can pare back its forward-based naval presence in many regions while retaining "command of the commons." It can accomplish this by relying more on regional powers to help in securing the freedom of the seas while maintaining sufficient over-the-horizon naval power to serve as the security guarantor of last resort. During this event, Sameer Lalwani and Joshua Shifrinson, along with Lawrence Korb, Senior Fellow at the Center for American Progress, and Flynt Leverett, the Director of New America's Iran Initiative, discuss the command of the commons and the future of American grand strategy. Participants featured speakers Sameer Lalwani Research Fellow, American Strategy Program, New America Foundation Ph.D. Candidate, Department of Political Science, MIT Joshua Shifrinson Ph.D. Candidate, Department of Political Science, MIT International Security Program Research Fellow, Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs, Harvard Kennedy School Lawrence Korb Senior Fellow ...

Chief of the Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal Rao Qamar Suleman, addressing the parade said that the graduating cadets are too young to be embroiled in the cross-currents of international or regional power games. However, as future leaders of men and women, you must remain aware of the security developments in and across the region. You ought to know that we are a peace-loving nation; but fully prepared to defend the integrity and solidarity of our motherland. PAF today faces the dual challenge of fighting an external enemy, many times its own size, and also internal scourge and menace - of extremism - bent upon changing our way of life. The internal struggle is not about Islam but a contest between two different ways of life, based on diverse cultures of thinking. He said that PAF is a professional outfit, totally focussed on its primary mission, which is to provide an efficient and cost-effective aerial defence to the motherland. At present, it is providing all-out support to the land forces in Swat and Tribal Areas, in order to restore the writ of the Government. Bronze statue; from Nigeria The Kingdom of Ife "This crowned head of a ruler is a remarkable piece of brass-casting which reflects important aspects of the landmark culture developed in Ife, on the lower Niger River, dating back around 2000 years and blossoming in the twelfth-fifteenth centuries. The time known in Europe as the medieval period was the golden age of West Africa. Powerful empires controlling vast territories flourished in the West African savannah, with a huge impact on the history and cultures of the whole subcontinent: the Ghana Empire (800s-1100s), the Mali Empire (1200s-late 1300s), and the Songhay Empire (1400s-late 1500s). To the East, in the Central African savannah, the Kanem-Bornu Empire expanded around Lake Chad. Trade routes criss-crossed West Africa, linking the northern savannah cities such as Gao, Timbuktu, Djenne, and the southern forest centres such as Begho, Igbo-Ukwu, Ife and Oyo, to the Hausa states such as Kano and Zaria, and reaching Ngazargamo in Kanem-Bornu. That regional trade was in turn connected to the considerable trade across the Sahara desert to the north. These trans-Saharan exchanges linking Northern (together with Andalusia in Spain) and North-eastern Africa to trading cities in West Africa and on Lake Chad. US Geopolitics - Obama & Brzezinski - The Taliban Card
Future Geopolitical, economical Possibilities, trends and outlooks! Brzezinski clearly distinguishes every role of every player based on easy to understand Cold War Principles. Culture and Religion is not his target, but incompetent and power orientated Countries! He basically defines the Geopolitical Global, Regional and Economical weight and is looking for that exact agreement between all nations to accept for future negotiations. The UN veto's or high GDP's, having nukes alone is not enough. Zbigniew Brzezinski vision of a Nation allowed to sit around the Global table for serious business will need to qualify to the following: What is considered a G14-20 Nation? 1- Corporatocracy, and/or Police-state with a functioning protection racket based tax-system that does not directly kill it's own Human resource (minimum requirement) 2- Corporatocracy, and/or Police-state That is a free-market global player within the top 20 GDP's (minimum requirement) 3- Corporatocracy, and/or Police-state with a functioning and controllable army, deployable anywhere on the planet (minimum requirement) 4- Corporatocracy, and/or Police-state with the capability of a nuclear global reach & deployment (bonus member) 5 star members have a independent functioning Space-program 5- Corporatocracy, and/or Police-state That will or is about to agree on a unilateral CO2 Emission reduction & or environment tax Every other nation on earth without any kind of treaty with any of the qualifiers or enough ...

FIFA SOCCER 11: "We Are 11" Series, Episode 10 - "Captain Tsubasa"
In an effort to promote the sport in 1981, the Japanese Football Association helped animator Yoichi Takahashi develop a seemingly "small" project that would cater to a younger audience. They logically reasoned that creating a popular cartoon would popularize it with a younger audience. Little did they know it would become a media goldmine, turning Captain Tsubasa into a cultural icon and help usher in a new era with Japan as a regional power in soccer. In several countries, "Captain Tsubasa" translated into "Oliver and Benji," and a comic book and television cartoon that was born from Japan quickly became an international success—no matter where on the globe you grew up, you knew these characters. We went to Tokyo and met with the cartoonists and creative minds that built this empire. Join our 11 on Facebook for more exclusive content: bit.ly

India (i/ˈɪndiə/), officially the Republic of India (Bhārat Gaṇarājya),[c] is a country in South Asia. It is the seventh-largest country by geographical area, the second-most populous country with over 1.2 billion people, and the most populous democracy in the world. Bounded by the Indian Ocean on the south, the Arabian Sea on the south-west, and the Bay of Bengal on the south-east, it shares land borders with Pakistan to the west;[d] China, Nepal, and Bhutan to the north-east; and Burma and Bangladesh to the east. In the Indian Ocean, India is in the vicinity of Sri Lanka and the Maldives; in addition, India's Andaman and Nicobar Islands share a maritime border with Thailand and Indonesia. Home to the ancient Indus Valley Civilisation and a region of historic trade routes and vast empires, the Indian subcontinent was identified with its commercial and cultural wealth for much of its long history.[8] Four of the world's major religions—Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism, and Sikhism—originated here. Judaism arrived in the 6th century BCE Zoroastrianism, Christianity, and Islam arrived in the 1st millennium CE and also helped shape the region's diverse culture. Gradually annexed by and brought under the administration of the British East India Company from the early 18th century and administered directly by the United Kingdom from the mid-19th century, India became an independent nation in 1947 after a struggle for independence that was marked by non-violent resistance and led by ...

US Geopolitics - Obama & Brzezinski - The Presence, PART 3
Future Geopolitical, economical Possibilities, trends and outlooks! Africa is only 1 of many coups we're gonna see in this new cold war we are entering into. Looking at basic Geopolitics, you can clearly see the old Cold-war patterns emerging again! The Middle east is now a dead horse, we wont be seeing anything war-technical happening there, because Geo-politically it would be stupid and pathetic to continue the neo-con course of fighting wars that you cant win without the big prize at the end! Iran will be used and offered a major role for peace talks in Gaza, the deal will be a "No nuclear warhead program" for 5-10 years and together the US and Iran will solve the Israel Gaza problem giving Iran a competent regional respectable face for the entire Arab League. Brzezinski will do almost anything to discredit Russia's Global claims! The last thing Brzezinski wants is some nutter destabilizing the middle east or attacking & destroying oil-fields just because of an overdue Palestinian/Israel issue while he is going after Pakistan, China & his hated Russia. Maybe Iran would even get offered a seat on the next G14-20 board if the Israel/ha-mas peace talks stay stable and succeed!! This would put Iran on the same eye level with Russia! Now that would totally piss Russia off demonstrating that Russia is only a regional power just like Iran. The secret deal could also be for Iran to play along with the Polish rocket shield.... I wouldn't put anything past Brzezinski!
