Viking Sunstones - Double refraction of Calcite "Iceland spar" - Viking solstein
Three minerals from Scandinavia that may be the legendary Sunstones of the Norse navigators. Demonstration of the double refraction of Iceland spar (calcite), splitting polarized light in two directions.

Calcite's Reaction to Hydrochloric Acid.m2t
This is an educational video that describes the mineral calcite's raction to hydrochloric acid. It also shows the reaction of the sedimentary rock limestone to the acid. Finally the video covers the etching out of silicified fossils from limestone (Devonian Age Martin Limestone of Arizona) to recover corals and brachiopods.

Iceland Spar Calcite Crystal Skull! Want One? Go to Rock Island Durango CO
This is a video of my iceland spar calcite skull that I received from a friend of mine who owns a store in Durango CO. he sells all kinds of precious stones and crystals some of which you have probably never seen nor heard of. very rare specimens in rocks and crystals are common to him. If you dont live in durango and have to have one and want to contact him. contact me and I will get a hold of him for you. I dont know much about Iceland Spar calcite, but I do know it is very rare and its very hard to polish into shape like you see here in this skulls cause it is very delicate and breaks when you try to polish it. Contact me for info on where to get one...

Polarization by a Calcite Crystal
The word PHYSICS is written on the glass panel of an classroom-style overhead projector. A sample of Iceland spar (a form of calcite) is placed over the word PHYSICS. Two images of the word PHYSICS can be faintly seen in the early seconds of the movie. The crystal double refracts light that passes through it. That is to say, there are two paths that light takes as it passes through the material, thus leaving two images. At about the 4-second mark, a Polaroid filter is placed over the crystal and rotated. As it rotates, the two images alternately fade in and out. The light passing through the crystal becomes polarized and when the Polaroid filter is rotated, it blocks and transmits the two light paths in alternating fashion. The result is that the two images of PHYSICS can be seen one at a time. Pretty cool stuff!

Calcite in polarized light
A crystal of Calcite in front of a computer screen. The light is polarized horizontally. Note how the 2 images of the pen behind the crystal change in intensity as the crystal is rotated. According to an old saga, the vikings used a "sun stone" to help them find the sun behing the coulds when they navigate. Some people believe it could be Calcite and this is what the navigators could see when aiming 90° to the direction of the sun. When both images have the same intensity, then the sun is in the direction indicated by the pen (Here the sun would be at the zenith).

Aluminum calcite kw block seal copper aluma seal water.wmv
This is a copper, portland cement, KW block sealer(water glass with 1% iron oxide) rock battery. Also an Aluminium rock battery( Anode and Cathode Aluminium) with the KW block sealer and 1/4 tube of Aluma seal. Both have crushed calsite rock in them (can be purchased at home depot or Lowes for about $5 a bag) This is in series running a Bedini osilator circuit LED. Was cured in about 120deg oven overnight.

Calcite Reconstruction - Fast Scanning
The surface of a freshly cleaved calcite crystal in humid air reconstructs on the time scale of minutes to hours. The reconstruction is known to be water driven, but there is still speculation about the structure and composition of the film (1,2,3). This movie shows a 2µm area scanned at 195µm/s (512x512 pixels, 40Hz scan rate, 13 seconds per frame) for nearly 5 hours. The movie was taken in AC mode using a 10µm cantilever with a resonance frequency of 3.5 MHz. The movie begins about 1 hour after the crystal is cleaved. The reconstruction film gives great phase contrast, indicating that it is different than the bare crystal. There are also interesting fast dynamics going on in the "bubbles" left in the reconstruction film. Besides its fast scanning abilities, this movie nicely illustrates the exceptionally low Z noise floor of Cypher because the initial calcite steps are only about 3Å tall. 1. Basic Calcite Chakra Layout
Rock Whisperer Krista Mitchell shows you how to do a basic chakra layout with different colored calcite crystals. Calcites are gentle and cleansing, so there is less risk in doing harm to the energetic and/or physical body when applying them yourself. To fully understand how to do a layout, it's important for you to first have an understanding of the 7 basic chakras and where they are located. However, even without this information, the crystals will have an effect. Please comment on this video with any questions and Krista will respond promply. For any requests for future videos, please send an email to krista@rockwhisperernyc.com and visit www.rockwhisperernyc.com for more information and to purchase your own chakra set. Thank you and have a blessed and beautiful day. Namaste. Starring Krista Mitchell, Rock Whisperer (www.rockwhisperernyc.com) Directed, Shot, & Edited by Rachael Marie Shaffer (www.healingfairy.com)
