Actor Herbert Lom dies aged 95
Actor, Herbert Lom, best known for playing Charles Dreyfus in the Pink Panther films, has died aged 95. Lom appeared in more than 100 films during his 60-year acting career, including such classics as The Ladykillers, Spartacus and El Cid. But it is playing the character of an irritable boss, who becomes increasingly unstable, opposite Peter Sellers, as the hapless Inspector Clouseau, that showed Lom's comedy acting genius. Watch out for this classic comedy fall. Take a look at this laughing gas scene, one of the best loved scenes Sellers and Lom shot. He made a speciality of playing the sinister character in a string of low-budget horror films, including a number of Hammer studio productions, playing the Phantom in their production of The Phantom of the Opera. And it is this range that prompted Blake Edwards to offer him the Dreyfus role. His later acting career saw him work with director David Cronenberg in a 1983 adaptation of Stephen King novel The Dead Zone opposite Christopher Walken. Herbert Lom, a true comedy genius, who will be sorely missed. Written and presented by Ann Salter. COUNT DRACULA (1970) Christopher Lee vs. Herbert Lom
Another little scene from Jess Franco's low budget adaptation of Bram Stoker's Dracula. In this scene Count Dracula (Christopher Lee) tries to claim Mina (Maria Rohm) but is confronted by Professor Van Helsing (Herbert Lom). I decided to put this scene, because it's the only one showing Dracula and Van Helsing in the same scene. Even though the great actors Lee and Lom were not filming this at the same time.

Count Dracula (1970) (1/16) Christopher Lee, Herbert Lom and Klaus Kinski - Bram Stoker
view all playlist www.youtube.com Jess Franco's version of the Bram Stoker classic has Count Dracula as an old man who grows younger whenever he dines on the blood of young maidens. www.imdb.com Count Dracula (German: Nachts, wenn Dracula erwacht, At Night, When Dracula Awakens, Spanish: El Conde Dracula) is a European horror film, directed by Jesús Franco and based on the novel Dracula by Bram Stoker. Although Count Dracula stars Christopher Lee in the title role, it is not a Hammer production like his other Dracula films, but was produced by Harry Alan Towers. Klaus Kinski, who would play Dracula himself nine years later in Nosferatu the Vampyre, is also featured in the film. Count Dracula was advertised as the most faithful adaptation of Bram Stoker's novel.[3] Among other details, it was the first film version of the novel in which Dracula begins as an old man and becomes younger as he feeds upon fresh blood. Count Dracula was released also in Italy as Il conte Dracula in Spain as El Conde Drácula, and in France as Les Nuits de Dracula.

Herbert Lom, who starred in 'Pink Panther,' 'War and Peace' and 'Night and the City', dead at 95
"Herbert Lom" "Herbert Lom dies" "Herbert Lom dead" "RIP Herbert Lom" "pink panther" "Clouseau" "Inspector Clouseau" "Pink Panther boss" "Spartacus" "El Cid" "War and Peace" "Night and the City" Herbert Lom, the durable Czech-born actor best known as Inspector Clouseau's long-suffering boss in the comic "Pink Panther" movies, died Thursday, his son said. He was 95. Alec Lom said his father died peacefully in his sleep at home in London. Herbert Lom's handsomely lugubrious look and rich, resonant voice were suited to comedy, horror and everything in between. It served him well over a six-decade career in which roles ranged from Napoleon Bonaparte — whom he played twice — to the Phantom of the Opera. The London-based star appeared in more than 100 films, including "Spartacus" and "El Cid," acted alongside film greats including Charlton Heston and Kirk Douglas, and worked for directors from Stanley Kubrick to David Cronenberg. But Lom was most famous for playing Charles Dreyfus, the increasingly unhinged boss to Peter Sellers' befuddled detective Clouseau in the popular "Pink Panther" series. The two actors starred together from "A Shot in the Dark" in 1964 until Sellers' death in 1980, and Lom continued in the series until "Son of the Pink Panther" in 1993. Alec Lom said his father was forever grateful to director Blake Edwards for offering him a comic role after years of being cast as "the suave Eastern Bloc gangster with the dark looks." "It was a new lease of life as an ...
