Martin Rees
Martin John Rees, Baron Rees of Ludlow, OM, FRS, FREng, FMedSci (born 23 June 1942) is a British cosmologist and astrophysicist. He has been Astronomer Royal since 1995 and was Master of Trinity College, Cambridge from 2004 to 2012 and President of the Royal Society between 2005 and 2010.
Early life
Rees was born on 23 June 1942 in York, England. He was educated at Bedstone College, then from the age of 13 at Shrewsbury School, Shropshire. He studied for the Mathematics tripos at Trinity College, Cambridge, graduating with first class. He then undertook post-graduate research at Cambridge and completed a PhD degree under Dennis Sciama in 1967.
Scientific career
After holding post-doctoral research positions in the United Kingdom and the United States, he taught at Sussex University and the University of Cambridge, where he was the Plumian Professor until 1991, and the director of the Institute of Astronomy.
From 1992 to 2003, he was Royal Society Research Professor, and from 2003 Professor of Cosmology and Astrophysics. He was Professor of Astronomy at Gresham College, London, in 1975 and became a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1979. He holds Visiting Professorships at Imperial College London and at the University of Leicester and is an Honorary Fellow of Darwin College, Cambridge and Jesus College, Cambridge.

Ludlow is a market town in Shropshire, England, located 28 miles (45 km) south of Shrewsbury and 23 miles (37 km) north of Hereford via the main A49 road, which bypasses the town. With a population of approximately 11,000 Ludlow is the largest town in south Shropshire. The town is significant in the history of the Welsh Marches and neighbouring Wales.
The town is situated at the confluence of the River Corve with the River Teme. The oldest part is the medieval walled town, founded in the late 11th century after the Norman conquest of England. It is centred on a small hill which lies on the eastern bank of a bend of the River Teme. Atop this hill is the site of Ludlow Castle and the parish church, St Laurence's, the largest in the county. From there the streets slope downward to the River Teme, and northward toward the River Corve. The town is in a sheltered spot beneath Mortimer Forest and the Clee Hills, which are clearly visible from the town.

Ludlow, Massachusetts
Ludlow is a town in Hampden County, Massachusetts, United States. The population was 21,103 as of the 2010 census, and it is considered part of the Springfield Metropolitan Statistical Area. Located just northeast of Springfield across the Chicopee River, it is one of the city's suburbs. It has a sizable and visible Portuguese community.
History
Although plans were drawn up for settlement as early as 1685, within the original boundaries of Springfield, Massachusetts was settled in 1751 as Stony Hill Parish. However, the town was later renamed Ludlow and incorporated as a separate entity in 1774, just before the breakout of the American Revolution. For much of its early history the town was agrarian and today many of Ludlow's street names are derived from the names of these farming families (e.g. Chapin Street, Miller Street, Alden Street, Fuller Street). Ludlow was home to many sawmills and gristmills, utilizing the power from several sources of water nearby, the Chicopee River, Broad Brook, Higher Brook, and Stony Brook. Before the Civil War, the town began to develop into a New England mill town. This included the manufacturing of glass bottles by the many glassware companies, including John Sikes. The District was renamed from Stony Hill to Ludlow for reasons unknown to this day. Then Governor of Massachusetts Bay Colony, Thomas Hutchinson renamed the town from the District of Stony Hill to Ludlow. The town of Ludlow was possibly named after Roger Ludlow, one of the founders of the Connecticut Colony or named after Ludlow, a town in England.

Το ντοκιμαντέρ αφηγείται την ιστορία Ελλήνων μεταναστών που κατέληξαν στο μακρινό Κολοράντο, στις αρχές του περασμένου αιώνα, να δουλεύουν κάτω από απάνθρωπες συνθήκες στα ορυχεία του Ροκφέλερ και του συναφιού του και που μαζί με χιλιάδες
μετανάστες από άλλες χώρες ξεσηκώθηκαν παίρνοντας τα όπλα για να υπερασπιστούν τη ζωή τους και το δίκιο τους.
Μια ιστορία ξεχασμένη, φυλαγμένη ωστόσο στη μνήμη των παιδιών και των εγγονών τους που μας την μεταφέρουν με συγκίνηση, γεμάτοι υπερηφάνεια για τους δικούς τους και θυμό για τις αδικίες που αντιμετωπίσανε.
Παρά τα εκατομμύρια του Ροκφέλερ στα μέσα ενημέρωσης για να σβηστεί η μνήμη του, τα ίχνη του αγώνα στο Λάντλοου παραμένουν ορατά σε ντοκουμέντα της εποχής - εφημερίδες, φωτογραφίες, έντυπα, σε μαρτυρίες των απεργών, στην έρευνα των
ιστορικών και στην προφορική παράδοση των κατοίκων της περιοχής. Από αυτές τις δυσεύρετες αλλά πλούσιες πηγές φτιάξαμε ένα ζωντανό και ενημερωτικό ντοκιμαντέρ, που κρατά το ενδιαφέρον του θεατή από την αρχή μέχρι το τέλος. Ludlow Town Centre is stunning. There's no other way of saying it! The whole place is immaculate and vibrant as well as having some incredible buildings that just take your breath away. From The Feathers Hotel to the Butter Cross to Ludlow Castle itself, you find Ludlow steeped in history everywhere you look!
In this video we will take you through Ludlow Town Centre and show you everything from Castle Lodge, to Ludlow Market, St Laurences Church and more.
We will head down Castle Street, Castle Square, Market Street, King Street, Bull Ring and more and show you the little shops, hotels, restaurants and pubs and inns from The Feathers Hotel to The Bull Hotel, Ye Olde Bull Ring Tavern, to The Fish House. It's all here in Ludlow Shropshire!
Ludlow is a market town in Shropshire, England. The town is significant in the history of the Welsh Marches and in relation to Wales. It is located 28 miles south of Shrewsbury and 23 miles north of Hereford, on the A49 road which bypasses the town. The town is near the confluence of the rivers Corve and Teme.
Ludlow is a thriving medieval market town and an architectural gem with a lively community feel, busy with events and festivals throughout the year. The historic town centre and the 11th century Ludlow Castle are situated on a cliff above the River Teme and are surrounded by the beautiful countryside of south Shropshire and the Welsh Marches. Ludlow is an excellent base for walking and cycling; as well as exploring the rest of Shropshire and the Welsh Marches.
Ludlow has a reputation for the quality of its food and drink with many excellent restaurants and cafes encouraged by the areas abundance of quality food & drink producers. There are so many tourist attractions here that if you are a travel and tourism enthusiast you'll go crazy with excitement! Ludlow is genuinely one of the loveliest places I've ever visited!

Martin Rees
Martin John Rees, Baron Rees of Ludlow, OM, FRS, FREng, FMedSci (born 23 June 1942) is a British cosmologist and astrophysicist. He has been Astronomer Royal since 1995 and was Master of Trinity College, Cambridge from 2004 to 2012 and President of the Royal Society between 2005 and 2010.
Early life
Rees was born on 23 June 1942 in York, England. He was educated at Bedstone College, then from the age of 13 at Shrewsbury School, Shropshire. He studied for the Mathematics tripos at Trinity College, Cambridge, graduating with first class. He then undertook post-graduate research at Cambridge and completed a PhD degree under Dennis Sciama in 1967.
Scientific career
After holding post-doctoral research positions in the United Kingdom and the United States, he taught at Sussex University and the University of Cambridge, where he was the Plumian Professor until 1991, and the director of the Institute of Astronomy.
From 1992 to 2003, he was Royal Society Research Professor, and from 2003 Professor of Cosmology and Astrophysics. He was Professor of Astronomy at Gresham College, London, in 1975 and became a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1979. He holds Visiting Professorships at Imperial College London and at the University of Leicester and is an Honorary Fellow of Darwin College, Cambridge and Jesus College, Cambridge.
