Anu Malik (Hindi: अनु मलिक) (born 2 November 1960), born Anwar Sardaar Malik, is a music director in the Hindi film industry. Son of veteran music director Sardar Malek, Anu Malik made his debut as a music composer in the year 1977. In the 90's Anu had hits like 'Phir Teri Kahani Yaad Aayee', 'Baazigar' and 'Jaanam'.

The beginning of the millennium saw him winning the National Award for his music for J.P. Dutta's 'Refugee', and also the Filmfare Special Jury Award for his outstanding music in the film. He has also won the Filmfare Best Music Director Award for 'Main Hoon Na' and 'Baazigar'. He was nominated 14 times for the Filmfare Award for Best Music Director.

Anu Malik has been judging the television phenomenon 'Indian Idol' for the last three seasons and continues to be a member of the jury for the fourth season as well. He has also rendered many of his own compositions like Garam Chaye Ki Pyali, Gori Gori and the recent Meri Jane Jigar.

The son of veteran composer Sardar Malik, brother of Abu Malik and Daboo Malik, Anu Malik learnt music from Pandit Ram Prasad Sharma (Babaji)^{[citation needed]}. He made his debut in Hunterwali in 1977. He composed for various famous films like Sohni Mahiwal, Mard, Ganga Jamuna Saraswathi and Jeete Hain Shaan Se got recognition for them, but still throughout the 1980s he could not get much of the work as there were so many established music directors like R.D. Burman, Laxmikant-Pyarelal, Kalyanji-Anandji and Bappi Lahiri. One of the only producers that always returned to him were FC Mehra's Eagle Films. Other early films were:

Anu Malik shot to fame in the 1990s with Phir Teri Kahani Yaad Aayee in 1992, Baazigar, Jaanam, Sir, Tehelka, Chamatkar, Maa and the next step was the Filmfare award for Baazigar beating Laxmikant-Pyarelal for Khalnayak in 1994. In 2001, he composed music for movies like Aks, Fiza, Filhaal and Mujhe Kucch Kehna Hai.

He is a versatile music director,^[1][2] giving music to different kinds of films. He has created many hit tunes for the Indian music industry. The music of Asoka has a rhythm and life of its own as it recreates a heady mix of powerful sensuousness. The high point of 'San Sanana' is the interesting use of the mridang. Sensuality casts its spell in 'Raat Ka Nasha' as immensely engaging track. 'Roshni Se' is a rich composition, which includes some awesome Buddhist chanting and the intriguing vocal chemistry between Abhijeet and Alka Yagnik. 'O Re Kanchi' captures the earthy feel of Oriya music, in addition to some funky drumbeats and enthusiastic vocals. Anu's association with Alisha Chinai has also been very successful, delivering major hits such as Sexy Sexy; Ruk Ruk Ruk from Vijaypath; and the recent songs from No Entry. For some time, they did not work with each other, following Alisha's claim that Anu Malik had sexually assaulted her.

His collaborations with J.P. Dutta, famous film director and producer, has also provided India with major hits. These include Border in 1997, Refugee in 2000, LOC Kargil in 2003 and Umrao Jaan in 2006.

Kumar Sanu and Alka Yagnik rendered their voice in most of the Hits composed by Anu Malik. Baazigar, Main Khiladi Tu Anari, Imtihaan, Chamatkar, Gambler, Akele Hum Akele Tum are some of the examples, then in 1998 Anu Malik blasted with Duplicate, Kareeb, Soldier, Aarzoo and finally Ishq Vishk (2003) are some of the successful results of collaboration between Anu Malik, Kumar Sanu and Alka Yagnik.

He also collaborated with singer Sonu Nigam. He gave the singer a big break with the song Ke Ghar Kab Aaoge in the film Border in 1997, which put the singer in the limelight and earned him several award nominations. Their collaboration has continued since, with Anu Malik providing Sonu Nigam with a variety of songs, including hits like Main Hoon Na and Tumse Milke Dilka Jo Haal in the film Main Hoon Na, which earned the singer several awards again. Anu Malik remained one of the judges on the TV show throughout each season till it ended. In the first two seasons, he was accompanied by Sonu Nigam and Farah Khan, and in the third by Alisha Chinai, Udit Narayan and Javed Akhtar. Entertainment Ke Liye Kuch Bhi Karega is a variety entertainment reality show that airs on Sony Entertainment Television (India) on weekdays. It premiered on 25 May 2009 along with a couple of other new shows, as part of a major revamp by Sony TV. The first season of the show was hosted by Mona Singh and Vishal Malhotra, and Farah Khan and Anu Malik were the judges. All the episodes were shot in Sony TV's Mumbai studio.

Anu Malik was the only judge from India on Asian Idol, who represented Indian Idol winner Abhijeet Sawant, along with other judges Indra Lesmana, Paul Moss, Pilita Corrales, Ken Lim and Siu Black.

Although he is not a mainstream singer, Anu Malik also does playback singing for his compositions. Written off as a singer in his early days ("Julie Julie," for instance), he continues to sing his own compositions, with songs like "Ek Garam Chaye ki Pyali" from the movie Har Dil Jo Pyar Karega, "Gori Gori" in Main Hoon Na or the recent "Meri Jane Jigar" in the film Deewane Huye Paagal. One of his most famous renditions, however, remain "Oonchi hai building" and " East or West India is the best " from the movie Judwaa and rap part of "Yeh Kaali Kaali Aankhen" of Baazigar.

While he sings entire songs for some movies, especially those starring Sunil Shetty, Paresh Rawal, Akshay Kumar and even Shahid Kapoor (in Deewane Huye Paagal he sang almost every song), very often one can hear him in the chorus, like in "Mehbooba Mehbooba" in the film Ajnabee, "Tumse Milke Dilka Jo Haal" for the film Main Hoon Na, etc.

He is also known for his singing for his private albums like Dekho barish ho rahi hai, Tera Chehra, Dhua dhua and an English album, Eyes.

Veena Malik was born in Rawalpindi in the province of Punjab,^[1] to Ali Malik, and his wife, Zeenat Malik.^[2] . She holds a BA in Sociology, Psychology and Persian.^[1]

Before starting her career off as an actress, Malik worked as a comedian for several television shows and series. She made her acting debut alongside Shaan and Zara Sheikh in Askari's Tere Pyar Mein (2000), which was a box office hit. She played a supporting role in the film and was barely acknowledged. However, she appeared in a supporting role in Javed Sheikh's Yeh Dil Aap Ka Huwa (2002).

In 2003, Malik appeared in Indo-Pak cross venture Punjabi film Pind Di Kuri which failed to do so well, however, the film turned out be the first Indo-Pak venture film with a budget of approximately 70 million rupees. She also appeared in Askari's Sassi Punno (2003) alongside Sana and Moammar Rana, however the film failed to do well at Lahore's cinemas and further screenings had stopped in cinemas after a week of its release. She then appeared in Rafique's Jageer.

In 2005, she appeared in a short Punjabi film Bau Badmash (2005) which did not garner any recognition due to the lack of big stars. She then appeared in Reema Khan's Koi Tujh Sa Kahan (2005) which was a commercial success in Pakistan.In 2007, she won her first Lux Style Award for being the most stylish celebrity on the red carpet.^{[citation needed]}

In 2008, Malik appeared in Rafique's Punjabi film, Mohabbatan Sachiyan, alongside ex-fiancee Babrik Shah and newcomers Maria Khan and Adnan Khan. The film went on to become a commercial success.^[3] The same year, she appeared in Raza's Kabhi Pyaar Na Karna in a supporting role, but the film was a flop. In February 2011,^[15] Veena Malik became part of the Cricket World Cup reality show^[16] in Delhi, India, called "Big Toss." Big Toss was a reality game show with contestants and Malik as the captain of one team, against Rakhi Sawant^[17] and her team.

In March 2011, Malik engaged in a passionate debate with a mufti, who claimed she had engaged in immoral behaviour as a contestant on Bigg Boss, even though he admitted to not having watched the show. Malik countered pointing out the double standards of Pakistani media against women among other rebuttals.^[18]

Sukhwinder Singh is an Indian singer best known for working as Bollywood playback artist. Singh is famous for singing "Chaiyya Chaiyya" for which he won the Best Male Playback Award at the 1999 Filmfare Awards. The song, from Mani Ratnam's 1998 film Dil Se.., was composed by A. R. Rahman, written by Gulzar, and sung in duet with Sapna Awasthi. It was also featured in the musical Bombay Dreams and, in remixed arrangements, in the titles and credits segments of Spike Lee's 2006 film, Inside Man. Singh later gained more international fame for singing "Jai Ho" from the film Slumdog Millionaire, which won an Academy Award for Best Original Song and a Grammy Award for Best Song Written for a Motion Picture, Television or Other Visual Media.

Singh originally comes from Amritsar, Punjab. He first performed on stage at the age of 8, singing the Lata number "Sa re ga ma pa, pa, pa, ga ma re, ga re mere sang mere saajna", from the 1970 movie Abhinetri. He also released a Punjabi album called Munda Southhall Da with T. Singh joined Laxmikant-Pyarelal’s troupe and quickly became a music arranger, before heading to the south of India to look for work. At this time he did a film called Rakshakudu.

Singh got his break in the movie Karma, in which he sang a few lines; then he did a Madhuri Dixit film called Khilaaf, in which he sang the hit song "Aa ja Sanam". But the singer realised that something was missing in his voice, took a sabbatical and left Mumbai to tour England and America to see, hear and understand various forms of music. After this broadening of his musical horizons, he returned to Mumbai to kick-start his musical career.

His first effort in Hindi films, Aaja Sanam, went largely unnoticed, even though the music carried the names of Laxmikant-Pyarelal. Then, along came Dil Se... A. R. Rahman used Sukhwinder for "Chaiyya Chaiyya". The other films that followed – including Taal, Biwi No. 1, 1947 Earth, Daag, Jaanwar, Dillagi, Moksha, Thakshak, Tere Naam, Apna Sapna Money Money, Shadi Se Pehle, Shabd, Musafir, Chak de India, Om Shanti Om and Black and White- have made him a household name.

He has been well received for providing playback singing for Bollywood actor Shahrukh Khan in a total of 6 songs.
