Hardness Anslysis (Nanomc) for SPIP. This module is used to automatically measure the projected area and surface area of nanoindentations. The indentation in this video was made using a Hysitron nanoindenter set at 10 mN. Then an atomic force microscope (AFM) image was made of the indent. The Nanomc software calculates the Vickers hardness and Indentation hardness. You can choose to include the pile-up contact area. It also does the indenter projected area and surface area function calibration.

Nanoindentation | Hardness Testing
Nanoindentation Hardness Testing is designed to provide high quality, accurate and repeatable results. Nanoindentation | Hardness Testing can quickly determine, at nanometer loads, surface properties on an endless range of materials whether soft, hard, brittle or ductile. Process: Nanoindentation Hardness Testing uses a Berkovich, Vickers, Sphero-conical, Knoop or Cube-corner indenter tip to drive into the sample by applying an increasing load to some preset value. The load is then gradually decreased until partial, or complete, relaxation of the sample has occurred. The load and displacement are recorded continuously throughout this process to produce a load-displacement curve. Adding a pause at maximum load allows to study creep properties. Properties Analyzed: • Nanohardness • Elastic modulus • Creep measurement • Stress-strain studies • Fracture toughness • Plastic and elastic energy • Flow stress • Indentation & plastic work • Visco-elasticity studies Additional Testing: Nano Wear/Friction Testing Nano Scratch | Adhesion Testing

TQC BUCHHOLZ INDENTATION TEST
The TQC Buchholz Hardness Indentation Test provides a method for carrying out an indentation test on coatings complying with the ISO 2815-2003 standard. The set consists of a calibrated slip-on weight with a sharp-edged metal wheel, an illuminated microscope, a level gauge, a digital dual timer, and two markers with template. The calibrated slip-on weight with sharp-edged metal indentor is positioned on the test specimen for a set period of time. The length of the indentation mark in the coating is an indication of the hardness of the surface. Mandatory test in Qualicoat, QIB and GSB accredited laboratories. Universal hardness testing machine - Universelle Härte-Prüfmaschine ZHU/zwicki-Line
ZHU/zwicki-Line universal hardness testing machines can be used for the classical Rockwell, Vickers and Brinell hardness testing methods on metals and for ball indentation hardness on plastics. They are also suitable for standard-compliant testing with the innovative instrumented indentation method (Martens, EN ISO 14577), which is used to determine other material properties in addition to hardness.

Microindentation | Hardness Testing
Microindentation Hardness Testing quickly determines mechanical properties, such as microhardness / macrohardness and elastic modulus, on any type of material: soft, hard, brittle or ductile. Process: Microindentation Hardness Testing uses a Berkovich, Vickers, Sphero-conical, Knoop, or Cube-corner indenter tip to drive into the sample by applying an increasing load to a preset value. The load is then gradually decreased until partial, or complete, relaxation of the sample has occurred. Recordes load and displacement continuously throughout this process to produce a load-displacement curve. Adding a pause at the maximum load allows the user to study creep properties. Automated Brinell Hardness Tester from Newage AMETEK
www.hardnesstesters.com - Custom Automatic Brinell Tester with depth & optical measurement and automatic surface preparation. With in-line process control, hardness testers can be incorporated into the manufacturing line and the measured data are used to directly control the heat treatment process. Four-cylinder aluminum engine blocks are transported directly from the heat treatment process to a Brinell hardness tester. The blocks are surface prepped and measured according to the ASTM-E-103 Rapid Indentation method. An optical reader could alternatively be used to measure the impressions to conform to the ASTM-E-10 specification.

Brinell Hardness of Materials
demonstrations.wolfram.com The Wolfram Demonstrations Project contains thousands of free interactive visualizations, with new entries added daily. When a ball is pressed into a piece of material, the size of the indentation made by the ball is proportional to the hardness of the material. This relationship was used by the Swedish engineer Dr. Johan August Brinell to develop a standardized testing ... Contributed by: Sandor Kabai

How to compare durometer.AVI
The hardness of plastics is most commonly measured by the Shore (Durometer) test, which measure the resistance of plastics toward indentation. Shore Hardness, using either the Shore A or Shore D scale is commonly used for "softer" plastics such as Silicone. The video shows the correct way to feel the hardness when you do not have the machine on hand.
