Easily Rotate Locked iPhone 4 and 4S Photos in Windows 7 with the Free JPEG Lossless Rotator
There is a known Windows 7 incompatibility issue with portrait photos taken with the iPhone 4 and 4S. Unlike with the 3G or 3GS, photos taken in portrait mode on the iPhone 4 and 4S do not auto-rotate when imported in to Windows 7. This is the case: (i) whether you sync your photos via iCloud; or (ii) whether you physically import them via USB; even when you explicitly set the Windows import utility to auto-rotate them on import. To make matters worse, a good portion of these photos end up locked in such a way that you cannot subsequently rotate them with the various photo rotate tools built in to Windows 7. This video shows you how to use the FREE JPEG Lossless Rotator app to easily solve this problem.

Episode 88 :: Shooting RAW
In this show we'll talk about RAW format, why you want to shoot with it and when you want to use it. RAW format has significant advantages of JPG. Most cameras capture your image at either 12 or 14 bits. RAW file formats allow for lossless conversion into a 16 bit color space. In contrast, JPG files are only 8 bit. This basically means you have more control over light levels in your post processing. Also nice is that RAW formats don't have a fixed white balance setting. Nor do they have fixed settings for color saturation and contrast. This gives you much flexibility over JPG when doing post production.

My 6KW Solar System
Update February 2011: The array continues to produce on average at least 3 times over (net) what is used in the house. Update: Below I state correctly that my array's production was over 3 times my usage. A couple of days ago, however, I received news from the Gerald Jones of Alabama Power that as of April 26th, my production (in excess of use) was 880 KWH, and my usage (in excess of production) was 80 KWH. In other words, in KWH terms, I produced 11 times more than what I used (net) in the month of April, 2010! This increase is obviously due to longer, sunnier days, and the fact that as of April, my girlfriend has been in Maine, and only I currently live here. What a joy to produce one's own electricty! [end of update] For the last few months, since its installation in the fall, this solar system (on average per month) produced over 3x of the kilowatt hours than what is used (last bill: usage =200 KWH ; production 640 KWH). I hope as the days grow longer that this production/usage gap will widen even more. We shall see . . . Notes on Produciton: Video Camera: Canon Vixia HG21 Editing Tools: 1)Visual Basic 5.0 (programs I wrote used for the video transitions, as well as the moving titles ie "Craig McManus" across the screen & "The End") 2) Virtual Dub, a freeware program used for compiling the split images back together (as well as avi segments), and choosing the compression methods (jpeg lossless in this case) and settings 3)A4 Video Image Converter - used to split the ...

Google Refines WebP to Take on JPEG, PNG
BY CHRISTIAN BRYANT ANCHOR JIM FLINK Google says it has modified its WebP image to make it smaller - and more competitive. But first - what exactly is a WebP image? Here's a quick description from Google. "WebP is a new image format that provides lossless and lossy compression for images on the web. WebP lossless images are 28% smaller in size compared to PNGs." The techno-jargon can be a bit dense, but the bottom line - analysts say the revamped WebP format can make web browsing much faster. Here's ZDNet with a breakdown: "Encoding photographs in WebP makes them as much as 34-percent smaller than if they are encoded in the popular JPEG format, the engineers wrote. Smaller file sizes lead to speedier page loads, and a generally faster web-surfing experience for the user." Still, as Techie Insider points out, the WebP needs more work - at least in terms of compatibility. The site says there IS a catch. "Of course, the biggest problem is the uncertainty of WebP with browser makers and manufacturers of graphics software to add support for the format. At this time, only Opera and [Google] Chrome support WebP..." Even so, the hang-up isn't stopping some from enjoying the new format. As an XBIZ writer explains, WebP could definitely enhance the web for at least one industry. "While universal compatibility is some time away, graphics heavy content marketers, such as adult website operators offering many thousands of high resolution images, can use WebP to speed up their content ...

This Sparta Remix Is Perfectly WRONG!!! (OVER 10K VIEWS YESZ!!!!)
What originally started as an "improvement" over Simonraical's "This Is WRONG" Sparta has now been redone from scratch, using some HD video by supdawg444 (half-Sparta remix, half-timing/rhythm tutorial video) as some sort of guidance. I did not use FL Studio (as supdawg), Magix Music Maker (like Tachin) or Audacity (as some other folks there), but I did use some little-known freeware called Wavosaur and some Womble trickery (8× slowdown in order to precisely chop the audio frames at specific points according to supdawg's timing, followed by 8× speedup to return back to normal speed) to perfect what I believe is arguably the most WRONG Sparta ever. (Perhaps more WRONG than Tachin's WRONG? You judge it.) And like my previous version, it's enhanced with WRONG YTMND GIFs (some of them my own contributions, like the "What Is WRONG???" GIF, the Lex vs 4chan battle, and the Dancing WRONG Bear) and intended for PoopSlammer's Sparta remix contest. AND NOW THIS IS MY MOST VIEWED, MOST POPULAR VIDEO EVER IN MY CHANNEL WITH NEARLY 9000 VIEWS! THANKEE FOR YOUR SUPPORT! iTunes-compliant MPEG-4 AAC version available for download here: www.mediafire.com Sorry, don't ask me for MP3 version, as this format is already outdated in favor of AAC. Will upload my 9000-view gift (lossless WMA and Apple Lossless versions) whenever I get my computer back (it's missing since 11.4.2009, please don't ask me what happened) or at least if I get all my personal stuff back.
