Russia Flash Floods 2012, 134 Killed In Krasnodar Region
Flash floods caused by torrential rain have swept the southern Russian Krasnodar region, killing 134 people, officials say. The floods, the worst there in living memory, struck at night, reportedly without warning. TV pictures showed people scrambling onto their rooftops to escape. President Vladimir Putin has flown over the region by helicopter and has had emergency talks with officials in the worst-hit town of Krymsk. Most of those who died were in and around Krymsk, a town of 57000 people. But nine deaths were reported in the Black Sea resort of Gelendzhik with a further two in the port town of Novorossiysk. Russian TV showed thousands of houses in the region almost completely submerged and police said many of the victims were elderly people who had been asleep at the time. "Our house was flooded to the ceiling," Krymsk pensioner Lidiya Polinina told the Agence France-Presse news agency. "We broke the window to climb out. I put my five-year-old grandson on the roof of our submerged car, and then we somehow climbed up into the attic." Dozens of people are reportedly missing, and there are fears that the death toll will rise further. Emergency teams have been sent from Moscow by plane and helicopter. Crude oil shipments from Novorossiysk have been suspended.

Toowoomba Flood 2011.01.10
Amazing footage of East Creek near Chalk Drive / Chalk Lane rising and washing away lots of cars during Flash Flood in Toowoomba on Monday 10 January 2011. This is some of the best footage I have seen of the Flood and was taken from the second floor of our office which backs onto Chalk Lane. It shows just how fast the creek turned into a torrent and quickly flooded Chalk Drive and Chalk Lane. I also got some video of where the creek crosses Neil Street and some video of the aftermath and the huge amount of cars damaged and piled on top of one another in the Chalk Drive car park. ***** With the incredible exposure that my video is receiving all over the internet and media worldwide I would like to encourage you to donate to the relief appeals. You can donate to the Queensland Government Appeal at: www.qld.gov.au Or the Churches of Christ Care Queensland Flood Appeal here: care.cofcqld.com.au Please pray for us. There are many people who are suffering through this. *** Okay comments are back up. Thank you for all your expressions of support for us.

Duluth MN Flash Flooding destroys roads, leads to Zoo animal drownings and sinkholes 6/20/2012
Flash flooding in Duluth, Minnesota, has forced residents to evacuate, left homes underwater, destroyed roads and even led to the drownings of at least eight animals at a zoo. Between 5 and 9 inches of rain fell between Tuesday night and Wednesday morning, sending what looked like raging rivers through Duluth's streets, according to the National Weather Service. Another 2 or 3 inches of rain was still likely to fall. Duluth residents, who are more used to having snow dumped on them rather than flash floods, said the damage was worse than anything they had ever seen. Workers at the Lake Superior Zoo were in disbelief, too, when they learned at least eight animals drowned there. The toll might still rise, because the workers hadn't yet been able to check all enclosures. "Sadly the zoo experienced the loss of several animals, among them many of the barnyard residents," Susan Wolniakowski, the zoo's director of guest services, said in a news release. "Due to flooding, the zoo's polar bear Berlin was able to exit her exhibit. She was darted by the zoo's vet and is safe in quarantine. At no time did any dangerous animal leave the perimeter fence." The zoo said the staff still was assessing the situation. "Obviously, our entire staff is devastated," the zoo's director of animal management, Peter Pruett, said. With more rain still coming down this afternoon, the mayor, the weather service and local emergency management officials warned residents to be careful and to stay off the ...

Kellick Creek Flash Flood 10th Feb 2007
Flash Flood in Kellick Creek at Ringwood Road Crossing 10 miles south west of Merriwa, Upper Hunter Valley, NSW, Australia. maps.google.com.au Kellick Creek is just outside the town of Merriwa in the Hunter Valley Region of New South Wales, Australia. This type of flood is an extremely rare event and was a result of approximately 125mm of rain in 30 minutes which fell about 5km upstream. The country had been in the midst of a major drought and groundcover was somewhat sparse. The people filming were at the location somewhat by chance as they went for a drive to look at the effects of the rain immediatley after the storm. They had just turned to go home when they saw the water coming down the creek. My grandfather, who is the older gentleman in the video could not recall seeing anything quite like it.

BBC: Flash Floods kill more than 100 persons in Russia
Flash floods caused by torrential rain have swept the southern Russian Krasnodar region, killing more than 100 people, officials say. The floods, the worst there in living memory struck at night, reportedly without warning. Emergency teams have been sent from Moscow by plane and helicopter. TV pictures showed people scrambling onto their rooftops to escape. At least 92 people died around the worst-hit town of Krymsk. Crude oil shipments from the Black Sea port of Novorossiysk have suspended. Russian TV showed thousands of houses in the region nearly completely submerged. Some users of social media networks in Russia said Krymsk looked liked it was hit "by a tsunami". Others accused the authorities of not telling the whole truth about the disaster. At least nine died in Gelendzhik and two in Novorossiysk. Dozens of people are reportedly missing, and there are fears that the death toll will rise further. Sicamous, British Columbia Flash Flood, June 23, 2012
My three sons and their friends were up at Sicamous Falls outside of Sicamous at 2 Mile. My one son texted me and said to get there right away the falls are going crazy. I went to grab my umbrella before heading out and before we could get out of the lane way, he was coming down the street beeping his horn at us. He then proceeded to tell us that Waterway Houseboats where my husband is employed is currently being flooded with the waters coming up and over the creek. We headed out right away and just before we could get to the end of our street...it was already blocked off by RCMP. My son was first in line at the stop sign and he waited it out. The RCMP and Kim Hyde has stopped to help out in directing traffic back the opposite way. We are tenants of her daughter's, so she let us pass as she knows Scott works there. When we arrived we went down onto the property where he met up with one of his fellow employees that he works with. From there I proceeded to get pics and footage until we were told we had to leave. UPDATE The Beautiful, Waterway Houseboats in Sicamous was Devastated by this flash flood. Seeing the Waterway Team continue to push forward in this time of disaster has been amazing. To see people still smiling and joking during this time, shows the strength and determination of everyone on that Waterway's Team to rebuild Waterway Houseboats back to it's fullest potential. Waterway plans to be fully operational by July 5, 2012...which also shows the Strength of the ...

Crazy Driving in Flash Floods, Lightning & Monsoon Rains in California Desert - USA Travel
We were heading down to Palm Springs California from Las Vegas this past September (2011) on one of our "back road trick routes" when we ran smack into a monster storm. Pounding monsoon rain, flash floods, rocks and debris washing onto the road. Had to drive through fast flowing rivers streaming across in front of us. We caught up to a caravan of vehicles rushing to get out of there before the road was closed. Insane afternoon! ~Kenneth St. King

Sudden flash flood wave fills a creek bank-to-bank in seconds - multiple camera angles
stormhighway.com This video shows why they're called "flash" floods! A strong flash flood wave caused by a stationary thunderstorm in the West Virginia mountains rushes down Mill Creek at Green Sulphur Springs, WV on August 6, 2005, filling the streambed bank-to-bank in a few seconds. I had anticipated a slow rise in the water from the storm upstream, and set up two tripoded cameras in the creek bed to do a time-lapse. However, no time lapse was needed! I had to rush to get my cameras to higher ground. The last two clips show the wave arriving much farther downstream, by which time it had weakened considerably due to the wider streambed (thanks to several mergers with tributaries).
