Donny Hathaway - Someday We'll All Be Free
Donny Hathaway - Someday We'll All Be Free
"Donny is no longer here, but this song gathers momentum as part of his legacy... He literally sat in the studio and cried when he heard the playback of his final mix. It's pretty special when an artist can create something that wipes them out." 'It was a spiritual thing for me... What was going through my mind at the time was Donny, because Donny was a very troubled person. I hoped that at some point he would be released from all that he was going through. There was nothing I could do but write something that might be encouraging for him.'" - Edward Howard, lyricist "Someday We'll All Be Free" Lyrics: Hang onto the world as it spins, around. Just don't let the spin get you down. Things are moving fast. Hold on tight and you will last. Keep your self-respect your manly pride. Get yourself in gear, Keep your stride. Never mind your fears. Brighter days will soon be here. Take it from me someday we'll all be free Keep on walking tall, hold you head up high. Lay your dreams right up to the sky. Sing your greatest song. And you'll keep, going, going on. Just wait and see someday we'll all be free. Take it from me, someday we'll all be free. Take it from me someday we'll all be free. Take it from me, take it from me, take it from me. 4/16/2010 -- I'm really happy to see that folks are enjoying this video. I posted this last year when I discovered this incredible artist and was sad to not find this great song on YouTube. In keeping with that spirit, I'm wondering if anyone ...

Roberta Flack/ Donny Hathaway - The Closer I Get To You 1978
Remember when Soul Music had artists who made songs so beautiful you would shed tears. Well here is one for your heart , soul and mind when Black Artists made music so deep that the earth would spin on it's axis. "The Closer I Get to You" is a song performed originally during 1978 by Roberta Flack and Donny Hathaway. The song was written by keyboardist James Mtume and guitarist Reggie Lucas, two former members of Miles Davis' band who were members of Flack's band at the time. Released from Flack's album, Blue Lights in the Basement, it became a major crossover hit. It scored two weeks as number one on the Hot Soul Singles chart in April, 1978, and also peaked at number two on the Billboard Hot 100. [1]. It was eventually certified gold. It is one of the most familiar of all their duets. Songwriters -James Mtume and Reggie Lucas

You told me that you didn't love him, and you were gonna say goodbye but if you really didn't mean it, why did you have to lie? Where is the love, you said was mine all mine, till the end of time was it just a lie where is the love If you had had a sudden change of heart I wish that you would tell me so don't leave me hangin on the promises you've got to let me know Oh how I wish I never met you I guess it must have been my fate to fall in love with someone else's love all I can do is wait (that's all I can do) yeah yeah yeah

The Great Donny Hathaway Covers The Great Stevie Wonder's "Superwoman". Is there Anything Donny Can't sing? Donny Hathaway and Stevie Wonder are my favorite Male singers of all time! Watch! Comment! and Enjoy! (This is not a Duet BTW) Personal Note: I just want to thank Allah (God) for this video. It's kinda a silly story but... Something wasnt working when I was trying to make this video, I was so frustrated! I thought about praying to God, but then thought praying over a stupid little video was silly. But I finally did say a little prayer for help. And right after, a thought came into my mind. And here's the video! So always go to God! even for the small stupid little things! lol.

Donny Hathaway - I Love You More Than You'll Ever Know
Donny Edward Hathaway (October 1, 1945 -- January 13, 1979) was an American soul musician. Hathaway contracted with Atlantic Records in 1969 and with his first single for the Atco label, "The Ghetto, Part I" in early 1970, Rolling Stone magazine "marked him as a major new force in soul music."His collaborations with Roberta Flack scored high on the charts and won him the Grammy Award for Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal for the duet, "Where Is the Love" in 1973. Six years later, his body was found outside the luxury hotel Essex House in New York City; his death was ruled a suicide. Lyrics If I ever leave you....you can say I told you so! And if I ever hurt you baby..... you know I hurt myself as well. Is that any way for a man to carry on Do you think I want my loved one gone Said I love you More than you'll ever know More than you'll ever know When I wasn't making much money You know where my paycheck went You know I brought it home to baby And I never spent a red cent Is that any way for a man to carry on Do you think I want my loved one gone Said I love you More than you'll ever know More than you'll ever know I'm not trying to be just any kind of man I'm just trying to be somebody You can love, trust and understand I know that I can be yeaaahhhh A part of you that no one else could see I just wanna hear,a hear ya say its allright yeahhh yeahhh I'm only flesh and blood But I can be everything that you demand I can be king of everythang Or just a tiny ...

Donny Hathaway ( UnSung: Part 1)
Donny Hathaway ( UnSung: Part 1)
Donny Hathaway was a Prolific Song Writer and Music Composer of the Fabulous Soul Music Era. Donny's rise to Soul Music Prominence made him the standard bearer for today's R&B Male vocalist. Indeed Donny Hathaway is responsible for creating and influencing today's modern R&B vocal style for ALL male vocalist of our time. Before Donny Hathaway, no R&B male singer or performer was singing riffs, incorporating high notes or bringing down the house with soulful, melodic vocals. Donny Hathaway was the FIRST to do it...................not Lurther Vandross, not Stevie Wonder, Not even Marvin Gaye! Singers like Usher, Neyo, Chris Brown, Boyz II Men, Jodeci, Dru Hill, Musiq Soulchild, Anthony Hamilton, Lyfe and so many others copy the vocal styles and even tonality that DONNY HATHAWAY created. Without Donny Hathaway, there would truly be NO SOUL MUSIC AND NO R&B MUSIC!!!!!! We pay honor to Donny Hathaway with this rare documentary about the MUSICAL Genuise of our lifetime..............................Mr. Donny Hathaway...................The KING OF R&B!!!!
