Follow us on TWITTER: twitter.com Like us on FACEBOOK: www.facebook.com "Return to Democracy- 13 Questions to be Discussed with Standing Committee Chairman Wu Bangguo," is a new book. It may face cancellation of its scheduled publication in Hong Kong on the eve of Beijing's two political sessions. Author Du Guang, a Professor at the Party School of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) was warned by the regime. Wu Bangguo's talk of "Eight Sets" and "Five Don'ts" was criticized by Du's new book. "It is precisely the theory, ideology and political platform for the CCP's rule," Du wrote. Du Guang reviews that Wu's talk covered up the essence of autocracy and is the root cause of social evils. It is a "modern form" of despotism in fact. Du clearly called it the biggest obstacle for China to head towards freedom, democracy, rule of law and human rights. In his new book, Du Guang exposed the CCP's deception, of deliberately obscuring facts. Du believes the exposure will help advance contemporary new enlightenment, as well as help China to accept universal values, to head for freedom, democracy, rule of law and human rights. Ye Ke, with a PhD. in Public Policy at the Univ. of Southern California, says Du's new book inspires introspection Ye Ke: "This is a very different voice, very bold and very courageous, under the CCP's dictatorial rule. He dissects in detail the CCP's lofty and holy appearance. He points out, straight from the shoulder, the essence of the CCP's safeguarding the ...

Here's more. Despite the pressure to reform, CCP officials say that China will not walk down the path of Western style Capitalism. Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, Wu Bangguo commented on the matter in a speech at the NPC on Friday March 9th. [Wu Bangguo, Chairman of the NPC Standing Committee]: "We must fully understand the essential differences between our system and the Western capitalist countries' systems of political power, remain sober-minded and take a firm and clear stand on major issues of principle, and unwaveringly keep to the socialist path of political development with Chinese characteristics." Wen reiterated Premier Wen Jiabao's goals of increasing domestic demand, investing in science and technology as well as cutting emissions. As a country that relies on exports of low-tech goods, decreased international demand is causing China's economy to slow down after years of double-digit growth. Domestically, Chinese people are also demanding more economic fairness. However, officials have been slow to tackle powerful state enterprises that control a large portion of wealth. Breaking up state-owned monopolies, commercializing the banking system, and easing state-controls, however, will no doubt be ...

Hearing of Lai Changxing Starts, Targeting New Gang of Four
Follow us on TWITTER: twitter.com Like us on FACEBOOK: www.facebook.com Taiwan media has revealed that the principal offender in the Miamen "Yuanhua Smuggling case" Lai Changxing will stand trial at the Intermediate Court in Xiamen on March 29. This will be the first time that Lai Changxing is tried since his extradition from Canada last July. This is a huge smuggling case which involves hundreds of officials in mainland China, Taiwan, and Macau. The interesting thing is, that for such a huge case, all media in China are banned from reporting on it. External analysts believe that this abnormal situation reflects the current infighting among the CCP's high level figures. According to earlier reporting by CCP media, between 1996 and 1999, Xianmen Yuanghua Corporation is alleged to have smuggled goods valued at 25 billion yuan ($3.97 billion USD). The case involves CCP officials at various levels. During this time period, Xin Jinping was Fujian province deputy-secretary of the CCP and He Guoqiang was the governor. Also, Jia Qinglin served as Fujian secretary of the CCP from 1994-1996 with his wife Lin Youfang as secretary of Fujian Provincial Foreign Trade Group. Lai Changxing's Huayuang Corp was the largest foreign trade company at the time. For a case this big, no mainland media have reported on the first trial, this has puzzled netizens. Chief Editor of China Affairs Wu Fan believes that, He Guoqiang and Xi Jinping who are involved in the case are now on the side of Hu ...

Innocent until proven guilty, Media Watch Mar.15--BONTV
AFTER the last revision 16 years ago, China amended the Criminal Procedure Law and highlighted human rights protection, eight years after the principle was explicitly written in the Constitution. The National People's Congress (NPC), China's parliament, adopted the amendment today with overwhelming votes at the closing meeting of annual parliamentary session, presided over by NPC Standing Committee Chairman Wu Bangguo. The phrase of "respecting and protecting human rights" is written in the revised law's first chapter on aim and basic principles. "The highlight of this revision is to better embody the constitutional principle of respecting and protecting human rights," said Wang Liming, deputy president of Renmin University of China and an NPC deputy. Personal freedom should be honored as the most essential human right, Wang said. The revised law stresses protecting suspects and defendants from illegal restriction, detention and arrest, which is an important contribution to protecting personal freedom of every citizen, he said. For the first time, the law makes it clear that confessions extorted through illegal means, such as torture, and witness testimony and depositions of victims obtained illegally, such as by violence or threats, should be excluded during the trials.

Beijing Daily Challenges Hu's Authority
Follow us on TWITTER: twitter.com Like us on FACEBOOK: www.facebook.com During President Hu Jintao's foreign visit, Beijing Daily, under the control of Beijing Party Secretary Liu Qi, published a high- profile article, "The Party's General Secretary Can not Override the Central Committee," which was removed shortly afterward. April 5, Beijing Daily published another article "Remember General Secretary Hu Jintao's Exhortations." Critics believe that Beijing Daily's open challenge of Hu's power hints at a showdown between fighting CCP factions. Mar 31, Beijing Daily opened a special column on CCP's 18th National Assembly, which starts with the "Hu's power" article. The article says that CCP's top leaders were not referred to as General Secretary from the beginning, and that "General Secretary" does not only refer to the top leader of the Party. The article introduces the development of CCP's central institutions of leadership, and the history of the General Secretary position. It concludes that "Our Party has always emphasized 'collective leadership'; General Secretary is the Party's top leading position, but not the Party's top leading institution." This article was immediately cited in full by Xinhua News Agency and other CCP mouthpieces, attracting attention worldwide. April 4, Beijing Daily's website removed the article, and Xinhua followed suit on April 5. Political Critic Shi Tao says this article's publication was related to Li Changchun, a Jiang faction official in ...

For more news and videos visit ☛ english.ntdtv.com Follow us on Twitter ☛ http Add us on Facebook ☛ on.fb.me German Chancellor Angela Merkel held talks with Chinese Communist Party leader Hu Jintao and top legislator Wu Bangguo in Beijing on Friday. During her meeting with Premier Wen Jiabao on Thursday, Merkel urged China to use its influence to persuade Iran to give up its nuclear program. Wen appeared to reject the pressure to do more on Iran, telling reporters later in the day that China objected to Western nations politicizing the "normal commercial relationship" it has with the Islamic Republic. Merkel is also expected to bid farewell to China's outgoing leaders, despite differences over human rights and democracy and issues like intellectual property theft. Both Hu and Wen are due to retire from their state posts in March 2013 and hand over power to successors, most likely led by current Vice President Xi Jinping. The next generation of leaders has not expressed different economic or trade policy views, and are expected to proceed cautiously once in power. The Chancellor will fly to the southern Chinese city of Guangzhou on Friday afternoon to attend a business forum... before wrapping up her trip to China on Saturday.

Chinese Leaders Talk Energy with Mongolian PM
For more news visit ☛ english.ntdtv.com Follow us on Twitter ☛ http Add us on Facebook ☛ facebook.com And following a series of energy deals with Central Asian countries, Chinese leaders are now seeking to foster ties with more energy talks—this time with the Mongolian prime minister. The aim—to feed China's growing energy demand. Here's more. Chinese leaders met with Mongolian Prime Minister Sukhbaatar Batbold for more energy talks to satisfy China's growing energy demand. The Mongolian Prime Minister arrived in Beijing on Wednesday for his three-day visit. His aim is to clinch major mining deals and to export coal to his energy-hungry neighbor. Batbold met with chairman of the Standing Committee of the Chinese Communist Party, Wu Bangguo to discuss coal-mining ventures. Mongolia's six billion ton Tavan Tolgoi mine in the South Gobi region holds the world's biggest untapped coking coal deposit. This deposits—estimated to be about 60 billion tons—are sufficient to meet China's import needs for more than a century. China, other global investment banks, and mining corporations all want a share of Mongolia's coal deposits. But, Mongolia is cautious of being too dependent. Its plan is to build transport routes to export coal through the Russian port of Vladivostok to take pricing power away from China. Batbold is scheduled to meet with his Chinese counterpart, Wen Jiabao today.

Bo Xilai's Phone Tapping of High Officials Infuriates Beijing
Follow us on TWITTER: twitter.com Like us on FACEBOOK: www.facebook.com Since the Chinese Communist Party's (CCP) two sessions closed, Bo Xilai was demoted from Chongqing party chief. The CCP regime hasn't given any xplanation, causing outsiders' debates. Yazhou Zhoukan magazine revealed that Wang Lijun is keen on hacking telephone conversations. Since he worked in Liaoning, he tapped people's conversation on topics he particularly interested in. High-level leaders eg Xi Jinping, He Guoqiang, Li Yuanchao and Wu Bangguo were tapped by Wang Lijun when visiting Chongqing. Wang also reported back to Bo any important Information he obtained from the hacking. The most surprising aspect is that Wang had a close relationship with Central Guard Bureau; he can find out CCP top leaders' schedule and invade their privacy. One Chongqing police official revealed that Wang arranged a province-level policeman specifically working on tapping. Yazhou Zhoukan reported that Zhongnanhai leaders were furious with Chongqing authority monitoring their privacy. This pushed them to made the decision to take action on the "Chongqing incident". Former head of security department, Xing Yaobin said that phone tapping is a common place happened in China. However, it must have higher level leaders' approval. Wen to Mention Reform Again; Experts Believe Zhou Yongkang
Follow us on TWITTER: twitter.com Like us on FACEBOOK: www.facebook.com Following the fall of Bo Xilai, Zhou Yongkang is facing eradication, and there seems to be numerous political reform rumors in China. Recently an article written by Zhou Yahui on an overseas Chinese website revealed that Wen Jiabao had proposed a specific political reform package to the Political Bureau, which was rejected. Analysts believe that this is none other than news intentionally stirred up by the bloody debts group to divert attention. Therefore, it is meaningless to talk about political reform prior to Zhou Yongkang being removed from his post. Zhou Yahui wrote in a Boxun article that an insider close to a Politburo member told one of his friends that Wen Jiabao presented a concrete political reform package to the Political Bureau. The ultimate goal of this gradual political reform package is to end the one-party Chinese Communist dictatorship, to establish the campaign and competition system of political parties, to abolish the intervention of Political and Law Commission in the judicial system, to establish an independent judicial system, and to have transparency in the judicial and political system. However, sources said that the political reform package was rejected by the Political Bureau, for most Political Bureau members are in need of maintaining one-party dictatorship for their own privileged interests. The article also indicated, in conclusion, that Wen Jiabao was very disappointed ...
