NY1 "Dusk Rings A Bell" Review - Kate Walsh & Paul Sparks
Kate Walsh from TVs "Private Practice" makes her off-Broadway debut in the Atlantic Theater Company's production of "Dusk Rings a Bell." NY1's Roma Torre filed the following review. "Yet another bizarre title to add to off-Broadway's swelling roster of openings this spring. But while "Dusk Rings A Bell" has that ring of esoteric ambiguity, it is in fact a beautifully tender love story blessed with a fine production featuring two exquisite performances. We first meet Molly, a bright and articulate TV news executive, newly divorced, yet wistfully upbeat. She is 39 years old and on this day, traveling to an old beach house where she vacationed with her parents many years earlier. She's anxious to recover a hidden note which she wrote to herself at the age of 14. The plan all along was to retrieve it after 25 years. She had been a stutterer as a child and the note was intended as a forced cure. It apparently worked as the stuttering did stop and she became, as she describes herself, an expert communicator. That summer of '85 was fateful for another reason. She met Ray, a young man slightly older, who gave her her first romantic kiss at dusk on the beach. Their brief encounter stuck with her through all the years since; and returning to the house, they happen to reconnect. Playwright Stephen Belber delivers with poetic sensitivity and insight a work that could so easily have turned cliché. His characters, as written and performed, resonate with a depth of humanity that make ...

Source: www.ny1.com Original from 10/10/2010 Fans are lining up at the Javits Center this weekend to see their favorite comic book and video game heroes at Comic Con. The three day pop culture festival has attracted tens of thousands from across the country. Many attendees came dressed as characters from their favorite movies. While some are getting a sneak peek at some upcoming films, many who made the trek tell NY1 they get a rush from just being there. "It's just a place where we get to enjoy time together, we get to dress up out of the ordinary and just have fun," said Comic Con fan Joe Caputo. "Words don't even cover it, it's a mass of humanity that are all pop culture lovers of all things -- comics, graphic novels, manga, anime, TV, film and video games," said Comic Con fan Lance Fensterman. More than 77000 attended the event last year.

Local residents protest a proposal that would only set new building height restrictions/rezoning of the East Village, while excluding predominantly Chinese and Spanish speaking neighborhoods. For more jewish videos visit www.zingmit.com "Your #1 Online source for all your Jewish videos & kosher videos!" Mayor Michael Bloomberg visited the family of Leiby Kletzky, the eight-year-old Brooklyn boy killed and dismembered last week, along with Police Commissioner Ray Kelly Monday. NY1's Dean Meminger filed the following report. With a solemn face, Mayor Michael Bloomberg visited the Kletsky family in Borough Park as they continued to mourn their eight-year-old son Lieby. "The commissioner and I expressed our condolences to parents, grandparents and siblings, and there is not a lot else we can say," said Bloomberg. "I don't know why God sometimes does some things." Levi Aron is charged with kidnapping the boy, murdering him and dismembering the body. The New York City Police Department's crime scene unit was back at Aron's home on East 2nd street Monday, continuing to gather evidence. "The investigation is continuing to go forward," said Police Commissioner Ray Kelly. "Obviously any information we get will go to the district attorney." Defense lawyers for Aron spent about two and a half hours with him inside the psychiatric ward at Bellevue Hospital. They said their client seems mentally unstable. "He's been hearing voices for quite some time," said Gerard Marrone, one of the defense attorneys. "He tries to quell some of the voices by listening to music. He listens to it with earphones and he listens to it very loud, and that helps him quell some of his voices ...
