Robert Miles

Roberto Concina (born 3 November 1969), better known by his stage name Robert Miles, is a Swiss-Italian record producer, composer, musician and DJ.

Early life

Robert Miles was born to Italian immigrants Antonietta Lauro and Albino Concina in Fleurier, Switzerland.

Miles became proficient at playing the piano during his youth in Friuli, Italy, in the small town of Fagagna, where his family moved when he was still a young boy, and has been in the music scene since 1984. He worked as a DJ in some Italian clubs and private radio networks and in 1990, he used his savings to establish his own recording studio and a pirate radio station.

    Robert Miles (born 21 August 1976 in Sydney, Australia) is a former professional rugby league player who played in the National Rugby League for the Sydney City Roosters, Northern Eagles and the Wests Tigers. His regular position was wing, however he also played in the centres and at fullback during his NRL career.

    Fable (Robert Miles song)

    "Fable" is a song by the Swiss-Italian musician Robert Miles. It was released in May 1996 as the second single from his album Dreamland. The song features uncredited vocals from Fiorella Quinn.

    It was a hit in several countries, reaching top ten in Austria, Belgium, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland and UK. Its highest position in Europe was number 2 in Finland, but the single was unable to dislodge Metallica's "Until It Sleeps", which topped the chart then.

    The song was charted in 1997, as third single (after "Children" and "One and One"), on the Billboard Hot Dance Club Play on which it peaked at number one for one week.

    The music vi deo for "Fable" was directed by Maria Mochnacz. In it, Robert Miles falls asleep on his sofa, in front of the television. On the wall behind him, three girls are performing a choreography of synchronized swimming.

    Robert Fenton Miles (born 24 January 1846 at Bingham, Nottinghamshire; died 26 February 1930 at Clifton, Bristol) was an English amateur cricketer who played first-class cricket from 1867 to 1879 for Oxford University and Gloucestershire. He was a right-handed batsman (RHB) and a slow left arm orthodox (SLA) bowler who made 69 first-class career appearances. Miles scored 577 runs with a highest score of 79. He held 28 catches and took 217 wickets with a best bowling analysis of 7–38. He captured five wickets in an innings on 15 occasions and twice took ten wickets in a match.

    One of 10 children of the Reverend Robert Miles (1818-1883), he was the elder brother of both Frank Miles the artist and the Reverend Charles Oswald Miles. Seven members of the family (three brothers, two cousins and an uncle) played First Class cricket in the Victorian era. Miles married Bridget Hare, daughter of the Reverend Henry Bassano Hare, in 1874 and had three children.
