Natural World: Himalayas (BBC)
Documentary looking at the wildlife of the most stunning mountain range in the world, home to snow leopards, Himalayan wolves and Tibetan bears. Snow leopards stalk their prey among the highest peaks. Concealed by snowfall, the chase is watched by golden eagles circling above. On the harsh plains of the Tibetan plateau live extraordinary bears and square-faced foxes hunting small rodents to survive. In the alpine forests, dancing pheasants have even influenced rival border guards in their ritualistic displays. Valleys carved by glacial waters lead to hillsides covered by paddy fields containing the lifeline to the East, rice. In this world of extremes, the Himalayas reveal not only snow-capped mountains and fascinating animals but also a vital lifeline for humanity. Narrated By: Sir David Attenborough

During this sacred ritual, his mother is consumed by flames and his father is horribly burnt. Once a normal, outgoing boy, Siddharth is transformed by the tragedy into an introverted child of a few words. While awaiting and praying for his fathers recovery, Siddharth is forced to live with his uncle. Continuing the inexplicable downward spiral of his life, young Siddharth is subjected to abuse from his aunt. The only bright spot in his life is the warmth he receives from his cousin, Druki. Despite the sad circumstances that have caused it, she is delighted to have Siddharth living in her home and existing in her life. One evening, as she is preparing for bed, Druki asks her mother about the death of Siddharth mother. Searching for words to give peace to her daughter, the woman tells Druki that God took Siddharths mother away because he loved her so much. Siddharth learns of this and is puzzled, wondering how it is possible that God loved his mother more than he. The question burns in his mind like a sliver and, try as he might, he cannot banish the tormenting thought. In his young wisdom, he finally ...

Medwyn Goodall - Healing Resurgence (Flight over the Himalayas)
www.facebook.com The Himalayas: Documentary looking at the wildlife of the most stunning mountain range in the world, home to snow leopards. In this world of extremes, the Himalayas reveal not only snow-capped mountains and fascinating animals but also a vital lifeline for humanity. This large mountain range spans the borders between Pakistan, India and China and is a part of the greater Himalaya. Although living in the harshest of landscapes, the animals of the Himalayas have provided natural gifts to humanity. From the scent of musk deer impregnating the walls of mosques to the incredible strutting displays of the monal pheasant influencing the rituals of India and Pakistan's border guards, there's much cause for wonder and amazement.

Himalayan Viagra - Nepal
March 2006 It's the world's most rare and expensive herb -- a mysterious aphrodisiac which only grows on the head of caterpillars in Himalayas. But trade in yarchagumba is funding the Maoist uprising It's the world's most rare and expensive herb -- a mysterious aphrodisiac which only grows on the head of caterpillars in Himalayas. But trade in yarchagumba is funding the Maoist uprising. The best Yarchagumba comes from Dolpa - the poorest region of Nepal, where there are no roads, few jobs - an area dependent on aid. At harvest time, entire villages empty as inhabitants go in search of the herb. "Everybody wants to collect yarchagumba to earn money." But Maoists have taken over the trade and impose their own tax, staving the government of it's income. "We make a lot of money from the yarchagumba tax. It's the main source of income for our party", states Maoist spokesman Comrade Deepak.

Nepal - Himalaya - Kathmandu
Nepal, officially the Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal, is a landlocked sovereign state located in South Asia. It is located in the Himalayas and bordered to the north by the People's Republic of China, and to the south, east, and west by the Republic of India. With an area of 147181 square kilometres (56827 sq mi) and a population of approximately 30 million, Nepal is the world's 93rd largest country by land mass and the 41st most populous country. Kathmandu is the nation's capital and the country's largest metropolis. Nepal has a rich geography. The mountainous north has eight of the world's ten tallest mountains, including the highest point on Earth, Mount Everest, called Sagarmatha in Nepali. It contains more than 240 peaks over 20000 ft (6096 m) above sea level. The fertile and humid south is heavily urbanized. By some measures, Hinduism is practised by a larger majority of people in Nepal than in any other nation. Buddhism, though a minority faith in the country, is linked historically with Nepal. Many Nepali do not distinguish between Hinduism and Buddhism and follow both religious traditions. There are 3 different buddhist traditions: Himalayan Buddhism, Buddhism of Kathmandu Valley (mostly Mahayana and Vajrayana), and also the Theravada Buddhism. A monarchy throughout most of its history, Nepal was ruled by the Shah dynasty of kings from 1768, when Prithvi Narayan Shah unified its many small kingdoms. However, a decade-long Civil War by the Communist Party of ...

Himalayan glaciers -- "no melt in 10 years"
The headlines recently announcing no melting of Himalayan glaciers for the past 10 years are, no surprise, not entirely accurate or telling the whole story. That's what you get for learning your science from the popular press. The rest of the story is far more interesting. As usual, I look at the scientific paper all this hype is based on, and it comes up with something that hasn't been so widely reported. The Himalayas HD
Please visit my website: www.climate-change-guide.com The Himalayas in HD (Soundtrack Himalayan Echos by Jeff van Dyck) From Wikipedia; The Himalaya Range or Himalaya Mountains, usually called the Himalayas or Himalaya for short, is a mountain range in Asia, separating the Indian subcontinent from the Tibetan Plateau. By extension, it is also the name of a massive mountain system that includes the Karakoram, the Hindu Kush, and other, lesser, ranges that extend out from the Pamir Knot. Together, the Himalayan mountain system is the planet's highest, and home to the world's highest peaks, the Eight-thousanders, which include Mount Everest and K2. To comprehend the enormous scale of this mountain range, consider that Aconcagua, in the Andes, at 6962 metres (22841 ft) is the highest peak outside Asia, whereas the Himalayan system includes over 100 mountains exceeding 7200 m (23600 ft). The main Himalayan range runs west to east, from the Indus river valley to the Brahmaputra river valley, forming an arc 2400 km (1500 mi) long, which varies in width from 400 km (250 mi) in the western Kashmir-Xinjiang region to 150 km (93 mi) in the eastern Tibet-Arunachal Pradesh region. The range consists of three coextensive sub-ranges, with the northernmost, and highest, known as the Great or Inner Himalayas.
