Hysterectomy: Surgical removal of the uterus
A hysterectomy is the surgical removal of the uterus, usually performed by a gynecologist. Hysterectomy may be total (removing the body, fundus, and cervix of the uterus; often called "complete") or partial (removal of the uterine body while leaving the cervix intact; also called "supracervical"). It is the most commonly performed gynecological surgical procedure. This surgery was performed by Dr. K. Madan at Max Hospital, New Delhi. Removal of the uterus renders the patient unable to bear children (as does removal of ovaries and fallopian tubes) and has surgical risks as well as long-term effects, so the surgery is normally recommended when other treatment options are not available. It is expected that the frequency of hysterectomies for non-malignant indications will fall as there are good alternatives in many cases. Hysterectomy Removal of the Uterus, Patient Education
www.PreOp.com Patient Education Company Your doctor has recommended that you have a hysterectomy. But what does that actually mean? Hysterectomy is the removal of the uterus - the organ that holds and protects the fetus during pregnancy. Hysterectomy often also involves the removal of other parts of the reproductive system, including the ovaries - where eggs are produced - the fallopian tubes which carry the eggs to the uterus and the cervix - or neck of the uterus. There are many different reasons why a doctor may recommend this kind of surgery. In many cases, disease or the growth of abnormal tissue will lead a doctor to recommend the removal of the uterus. In some cases, unusually heavy menstrual flow and the accompanying discomfort may make hysterectomy an important treatment option for patient and physician to consider. But no matter what the reason behind it, you should be aware that the removal of the uterus and other reproductive organs is a serious step and it can mean significant changes in your life. After having a hysterectomy, you will not be able to have children and if your ovaries are removed as part of the procedure, you may even need to take medication to replace hormones that your body once produced on its own. Tool Time: 'Uterus' A Dirty Word??
Apparently Republican lawmakers in Florida believe uterus is a dirty word and should not be mentioned on the State Capitol Floor! State Congressman Scott Randolph, a Democrat from Orlando said his wife should "incorporate her uterus" in an attempt to stop the GOP from passing more restrictive abortion laws, which threw everyone into frenzy.

Name That Uterus!
It would appear that my uterus (along with those of every other American woman) have become a distraction for Congressional Republicans. Since jobs should be priority ONE, I have come up with I believe is a fair solution to their problem. I would like to incorporate my "business", so that it can be granted the same right of "personhood" as every other corporation in the United States. Since my uterus is actually a living entity, it only seems fair that I should be granted this right but I need your help. I need a clever name and "brand" for my uterus and would appreciate your submissions below. In answer to a few questions: I. It will be a Limited Liability Corporation 2. In accordance with the laws of my state, it will have to be Non-Profit. 3. I will not take credit for this idea, since Florida House Democrat Randolph Scott suggested such a thing for his wife to avoid abortion objections and he was summarily scolded for use of the word "uterus".

Florida "Uterus Controversy" Song Parody
New song parody from South Florida Raging Grannies, inspired by Florida's crazy "uterus controversy" that has made national news headlines; annoyed, amused and activated countless more women (and men) into opposing the corporate-loving, women-bashing Republican Party of FL; and made an instant celebrity/hero out of FL State Representative (D-Orlando) Scott Randolph, who dared utter the "U-word" while speaking on the House floor about the hypocrisy of the 18 anti-Choice bills that the GOP has advanced during this 2011 legislative session. If you want to sing "The Uterus Song at a demonstration, rally or hell, a birthday party near you, here are the sensational, stinging lyrics... The Uterus Song (Tune: "Bye-Bye Blackbird") Lyrics © by Vicki Ryder If you're a Republican, it's okay to screw everyone, Just don't say "uterus!" You can send our kids to war while watching your investments soar, But don't say "uterus!" Taking bribes used to be thought just awful; Now fat cats pay for your campaigns, that's lawful... You can take our rights away and torture folks, that's still okay. Just don't say... that word. You take funds from Planned Parenthood; you'd take all our rights if ya could, But don't say "uterus!" You think abortion is a sin, but what's that fetus growin' in? Shh! Don't say uterus! You can get away with bloody torture, Just don't say where you were when the stork brought ya. We're glad you're lookin' out for us, so stamp your feet and make a fuss When you hear ...
