Push It (Salt-n-Pepa song)
"Push It" is a song by the group Salt-n-Pepa. It was released as the B-side of the "Tramp" single in 1987, and as its own single in 1988. It peaked at #19 on the Billboard Hot 100 in early 1988 and, after initially peaking at #41 in the UK, it re-entered the charts after the group performed the track at Nelson Mandela's 70th Birthday concert, eventually peaking at #2 that summer. The song has also been certified Platinum by the RIAA. The song is ranked #446 on Rolling Stone's list of the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time and was ranked #9 on VH1's 100 Greatest Songs of Hip Hop.
Song information
The original version of "Push It" was first released as the B-side to the 12" single "Tramp" in 1987. The corresponding 7" single contained a "Mixx-It" remix by San Francisco DJ and producer Cameron Paul; this was the radio version that gave the group its first mainstream hit. It advanced into the Billboard Top 40 the week of December 26, 1987, eventually reaching its peak of #19 the week of February 20, 1988. It also ties with "Let's Talk About Sex" as the group's highest-charting UK hit, with both peaking at #2 in that country.

Static-X
Static-X was an American heavy metal band from Los Angeles, California formed in 1994. The line-up fluctuated over the years, but always held constant with band founder, frontman, vocalist, and guitarist Wayne Static. The band rose to fame with their 1999 debut album Wisconsin Death Trip where the band's heavy industrial metal sound found attention within the burgeoning nu metal movement of the late 1990s, with the album eventually going platinum in the United States. The band released five more albums over the course of the next decade: Machine in 2001, Shadow Zone in 2003, Start a War in 2005, Cannibal in 2007, and Cult of Static 2009.
Shortly after their last album's release, the band entered a hiatus while Static worked on his solo album, Pighammer, in 2011. Static briefly reformed Static-X in 2012, using only members of his solo album's touring band, before officially breaking up in June 2013. On November 1, 2014, Wayne Static died at the age of 48.

"Push It" is the first single from the industrial metal band Static-X's first album, Wisconsin Death Trip. "Push It" is one of Static-X's best known and most popular songs and is credited, along with "I'm with Stupid", for making Wisconsin Death Trip Static-X's best-selling album. The song is a combination of most effects of the industrial metal genre along with the band's self-described "evil disco". The music video for Push It was directed by Mick Olszewski and introduces shots of clay creatures mixed in with the band performing the song.
Music and lyrics
The song talks about being self-strong, not giving up. The song begins and concludes with heavier segments with screamed vocals, while its middle section is more atmospheric and melodic.
