In February of
2013, I jumped on a plane with our talented cameraman/director
Brian Rapsey and headed off to Rio for
Carnaval. We were there mentoring the winners of the
World Nomads 2013
Travel Film Scholarship (scholarships.worldnomads.com/) and ourselves looking to capture what the essence of Carnaval is.
This extraordinary experience made me appreciate not just the unbelievable effort that goes into a
parade competition like this; but also that sometimes, it's not the biggest spectacle that can have the most profound effect on a person. I found that going into the heart of a community was how I found the heart of Carnaval.

About the World Nomads Brazil team
Chris Noble is the
General Manager of WorldNomads.com and will forever be indebted to the World Nomads of Rio that shared their knowledge and passion over the Carnaval period. He has a renewed love of
Samba music and still dances as if his feet were held apart by a broom handle.
This film was directed, shot and edited by our very talented nomad, Brian Rapsey - https://rhapsodypictures.com.au
