Ballad for Robert Moog
Ballad for Robert Moog
A synthesizer song dedicated to Robert Moog. Like many keyboardists, I first fell in love with synthesizers having heard a Moog (the song "Amore Grande Amore Libero" by Italian keyboardist "Il Guardiano del Faro") as a child in the 1970s. I made this song with a Synthesizers.com modular and a Kurzweil K2500X - it's a simple, gentle song dedicated to "the father of synthesis", based on a string pad, and a modular solo.

Happy 77th Birthday, Bob Moog!
Happy 77th Birthday, Bob Moog!
In honor of Bob Moog's 77th Birthday, Moog engineer Steve Dunnington summons a Minimoog Voyager Orchestra to play a Mooged Out version of what else?...Happy Birthday! Steve overdubbed 6 tracks of Minimoog Voyager, one voice at a time, to realize this rendition of Happy Birthday. Using sounds from the Voyager factory presets, this special version of Happy Birthday for Bob was envisioned as a stylistic mashup of Kraftwerk and Jean-Jacques Perry. Both are artists who helped put the Moog Synthesizer in the ear of listeners all over the world. Happy Birthday, Bob! This year marks some big changes for the little company you started. None of it would be possible without your fearless genius, passion for innovation and overwhelming humility. Thanks for everything, Bob! All pictures of Bob Moog courtesy of the Bob Moog Foundation. BBC Archive Tomorrow's World Moog Synthesiser
BBC Archive Tomorrow's World Moog Synthesiser
Synopsis In this report from a longer programme, Derek Cooper introduces the Moog synthesiser, an instrument that can produce a variety of noises and arrangements, both mimicking real instruments and creating new sounds, all electronically. Did you know? Developed by Dr Robert Moog, the Moog synthesiser evolved from a kit known as a Voltage-Controlled Electronic Music Module, which Moog demonstrated in prototype form in 1964. The first production models emerged in 1967, accompanied by a sample record of music composed by Walter Carlos (later Wendy Carlos, after her sex-change operation in 1972). It was Carlos's 1968 album 'Switched-On Bach' that catapulted Moog-produced music into popular culture, though examples of music made on the synthesiser had already been released by The Doors, The Monkees and Simon & Garfunkel, among others.
