2.35:1 Cinemascope, Panavision, Anamorphic Aspect Ratio Tutorial
devowe.com - A 90 second tutorial on exporting 1080p widescreen (16:9) footage to Cinemascope aspect ratio (otherwise known as Panavision or Anamorphic Scope - 2.35:1 ratio). In this example, I used 100 pixels on the top and bottom. TRUE 2.35:1 aspect ratio would be 132px on top, and 131px on bottom (or vice versa). The final output would be 817px tall. Please bestow a ♥ like or leave a ✉ comment if you have questions! ☞ ASPECT RATIO CONVERSION METHOD: To convert from any aspect ratio to a wider format (such as 2.35:1 or 1.85:1), all you have to do is DIVIDE the WIDTH of your SOURCE footage (1920 in this example) by the final aspect ratio desired (2.35 in this example). So, 1920 DIVIDED BY 2.35 = 817 pixels tall Your final output would be 1920x817. ✏ To find the amount to crop off the top and bottom, subtract your pixel number (817px here) from your source footage height (1080px) and divide it by two. If it is a decimal number (such as 131.5), even it out to whole pixels (ie - crop 132px from top, 131px from bottom). ✏ Here are some examples of aspect ratio conversion methods. These are all assuming 1920x1080 footage. If your SOURCE footage is 1280x720, your width would be 1280; if your SOURCE footage is 720x480, your width would be 720; and so on. ☞ 16:9 to 2.35:1 / Cinemascope / Anamorphic / Panavision Aspect Ratio: SOURCE footage width (1920) DIVIDED BY 2.35 = 817px tall Crop 132px off top, 131px off bottom. ☞ 16:9 to 1.85:1 / Academy Flat / "Flat" Aspect Ratio ...

2.35:1 Aspect Ratio Test
Both an upload test, and a lens test. Reason for uploading to YouTube was that I have uploaded nothing in awhile, and there have been some complaints about wider aspect ratio videos not converting to HD. This video is uploaded to test that. It did manage to register as HD on vimeo.com and I've now confirmed that YouTube converted it successfully as well, despite a few defects. Home Theater Circular Screen Example (2.35:1 Aspect Ratio)
This is an example of using NTHUSIM and a 180 degree circular screen as a home theater. In this case a movie preview is projected on the triple-projector circular screen in proper 2.35:1 aspect ratio. While it doesn't use the whole 180 degree screen while viewing movie content, this type of setup works well as both a gaming room and a home theater room. Standard Blu-ray content projected in a home theater setup like this uses about 2/3rds of the circular screen to achieve 2.35:1 aspect ratio. You can also use VLC and watch live TV in the same manner by piping the signal in through a firewire connection from a standard Motorola HD cable set top box.

1:2.35 aspect ratio fixed frame projection screen with manual side masking
The A-velvet multiformat gives you a projection screen that you can adjust for different aspect ratios. The native format is 1:2.35, but you can use the built in side masking to create a 16:9 or 4:3 screen. The screen comes with a 10 cm wide black velvet frame and because the masking is built in, the depth is limited. Assembly is straightforward because there's no need to assemble the masking itself, it's built-in. For more info, go to www.beamax.com

Helvetia's Dream
Lesen Sie auf deutsch bitte weiter unten weiter...
‘Helvetia’s Dream’ takes you on a nighttime journey to some of the most beautiful spots in the Swiss Alps – from Arosa to Zermatt, including the world famous mountains Matterhorn and Eiger.
Please pay special attention to the following scenes:
@0:46 watch the persistent train of a bright meteor above Tijerflue Mountain in Arosa, December 2010, which was visible for about 20 minutes. A slow motion effect is applied for better visibility of the shooting star and its trail of ‘smoke’, which consists of ionized gas left behind as the meteor burns up in the atmosphere.
@1:14 clouds above Lake Geneva steam up the lens.
@1:36 on the very left: Climbers step into the unpredictable Eiger Nordwand.
@1:44 the Milky Way rises above the ‘Donkey’ rock on Pilatus.
@1:58 snowcats nearby cause the lighting of the summit cross on Fronalpstock Mountain. (Snowcat lights usually spoil time-lapse)
@2:21 the wind changes the reflection of Säntis Mountain in the Seealpsee.
@2:35 three settings showing orbits of stars. This is an alternative technique to display the movement of stars by sequentially adding the luminosity of each exposure. The result is basically a long exposure with a large aperture.
@2:49 the waxing new moon, not full moon, setting over Pilatus.
For the "making of" information and photo gallery check out the project website www.helvetiabynight.com.
‘Helvetia by Night’ is a time-lapse project about Switzerland by night. Short videos of long nights present you the stunning beauty of the Swiss Alps and show you the magic of a spectacular nighttime sky. Imagine watching a slide-show at fast speed or looking at a flip book. It is photography turning into a movie. Everything in the videos is real and happening out there while most of us are sleeping.
Some words about me:
I grew up in Arosa, a small paradise in the mountains of eastern Switzerland located 1800m above sea level. Inspired by such great scenery, photography has become my passion early in life. Since 2005 I work as press photographer for the Swiss press photo agency KEYSTONE in Zurich. Time-lapse photography became a favorite hobby of mine in the year 2011. Besides that I am doing some other private work which can be found here: www.dellabella.ch
Have fun watching the time-lapse videos!
‘Helvetias Traum’ ist ein nächtlicher Streifzug durch die Schweizer Alpen – von Arosa bis Zermatt. Zu den Höhepunkten gehören die weltbekannten Berge Matterhorn und Eiger.
Schenken Sie folgenden Szenen besondere Aufmerksamkeit:

Canon 7D movie - Another night in Beijing
So here is my first attempt at filming with a production Canon Eos7D just one hour after receiving it from my local camera store. Starting at 10pm I spent about 2 hours in total filming this an the Nanluoguxiang Hutong in Beijing which is popular with locals and tourists alike. Due to the lack of light its shot mostly at around 1600 to 6400 ISO.
Lenses were the Canon 50mm f1.2L, 35mm f1.4L and the 70-200mm f4L IS. I attached my Zacuto Z-finder straight to the camera, then added a prototype of the new Genus d-slr bars supporting their wide angle mattebox to prevent any excess lens flare. I shot mostly handheld using a small Redrockmicro shoulder rig at times as well as on my fantastic Miller DS-20 tripod. Audio was from a Zoom H4n feeding the camera audio directly using a custom cable from Pinknoise systems (living with AGC to speed time in the edit).

Monster Rally - Surf Erie
At the beginning of summer, a friend of mine introduced me to Monster Rally, and from that moment I was hooked. The samples that make up his definitive sound, reflect all those moments of summer spent with your friends, the moments you shared together, and the places you went. This was one of those moments.
I would like to thank Ted Feighan of Monster Rally for asking me to make this video for him. I couldn't have been happier to take on this project.
Shot at Lake Crescent in the Olympic Peninsula.
