The Iberian Peninsula: Spain, Portugal, Andorra, and Gibraltar (1949)
thefilmarchive.org The Iberian Peninsula (Asturian, Leonese, Mirandese, Spanish, Portuguese and Galician: Península Ibérica, Catalan: Península Ibèrica, Aragonese and Occitan: Peninsula Iberica, French: Péninsule Ibérique, Basque: Iberiar Penintsula), sometimes called Iberia, is located in the extreme southwest of Europe and includes the modern-day sovereign states of Spain, Portugal and Andorra, as well as the British Overseas Territory of Gibraltar. It is the westernmost of the three major southern European peninsulas — the Iberian, Italian, and Balkan peninsulas. It is bordered on the southeast and east by the Mediterranean Sea, and on the north, west and southwest by the Atlantic Ocean. The Pyrenees form the northeast edge of the peninsula, separating it from the rest of Europe. In the south, it approaches the northern coast of Africa. It is the second-largest peninsula in Europe, with an area of approximately 590000 km2 (230000 sq mi). The principal urban centres are: Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia, Seville, Zaragoza, Málaga, Lisbon, Murcia, Palma, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Bilbao, Alicante, Córdoba, Valladolid, Vigo, Vila Nova de Gaia, Gijón, L'Hospitalet de Llobregat, A Coruña, Porto, Vitoria-Gasteiz, Granada, Elche, Oviedo, Braga, Sintra, Coimbra and Setúbal. Various other notable cities are also present on the peninsula. The main metropolitan areas and conurbations over a million are: Madrid, Barcelona, Lisbon, Valencia, Porto, Seville, Bilbao and Málaga. en ...

Zabar's Cheese Plate of the Week - The Best of the Iberian Peninsula
The Iberian Peninsula is the second biggest Peninsula in Europe. Made up of Spain, Portugal, Andorra, Gibraltar, and a very small piece of France, it is rich in history and heritage. Full of great beaches, beautiful cities and rugged terrain, this region is also full of delicacies including many cheeses that are sought after the world over. These cheeses are just as unique as the Peninsula itself with their different shapes, recipes and flavors. As availability has increased for these cheeses, so has their popularity making it only natural for us to spend some time talking about them.

Alternate History of the Iberian Peninsula
(Those who do not know what the real world Portugal real Flag and Anthem are like see the first video answer to this one (click on "see all" in the video answers please because there are more than two) This is a dystopian alternate history scenario, which (I am glad) never happened: Somehow, the quadruple alliance fails in the civil war on the Iberian Peninsula and so D. Carlos in Spain and D. Miguel in Portugal become absolutist kings. The liberals are banned and persecuted. However, the rebellion continues periodically and despite all in some of the provinces of Spain and in the North of Portugal for over a century later. The descendents of the two kings I spoke about above are a lot worse than they ever were and, of course, because both kings have married different women their descendents are not even the same that have born in the real world. Taking advantage of the internal tensions in Portugal and Spain (which continue despite the great repression to any liberal of republican movements) Britain take over all the oversees territories of the Iberian nations (including even Azores and Madeira) which in this alternate timeline have not developed so much (above all those in Africa). On the I and II World Wars despite de jure allied with Germany both Portugal and Spain maintain neutrality fearing further British retaliations. However, despite their success in maintaining their nations outside the war the absolutist/fascist dictators of Portugal and Spain are a lot worse ...

Wild Life - Iberian Europe
Follow us on Facebook: on.fb.me Follow us on Twitter: twitter.com This breathtaking series provides a magical tour of some of the world's most pristine beautiful places - full of biodiversity and lush with life! Natural bridges between continents create extraordinary richness, and unique flora and fauna seen nowhere else. Featuring groundbreaking and gorgeous nature cinematography, Wild Life lets you uncover seldom-seen secrets from the Earth's hidden regions. Iberian Europe: The Iberian Peninsula came into being when two opposing worlds created the Pyrenees Mountains. The North displays many of the features of continental Europe's ecosystems, but its isolation has preserved species in ways Europe never could. The peninsular Euro-Siberian forests are home to species like the wood grouse, which also lives in the colder regions of Europe. It's also home to several other remarkable species. Bears and wolves roam the peninsula, and so do large herbivores like the chamois and the Spanish ibex.

The Iberian lynx, Lynx pardinus, is a critically endangered species native to the Iberian Peninsula in Southern Europe. It is currently the rarest cat species in the world. This Lynx family was filmed in the Sierra de Andujar National Park in Andalucia, Spain. The female, 'Elam' is radio-collared to enable further research study. It was filmed using a combination of a Swarovski ATS65HD Telescope, the superb 25x50WA Zoom Eyepiece, a DCA and a Panasonic Lumix G2 Camera in September 2011. Moorish Iberia.avi
This is the final part exploring Moorish Architecture and I dedicate this concluding part to the Iberian peninsula. Excellent examples of this Architecture is to be found in abundance in Iberia ranging from infrastructure like bridges, roads, water irrigation canals .. to elaborate palaces and impressive castles. I hope that these Videos have shed some light into who the Moors were and perhaps Make those who watch these videos seriously question the ridiculous claims made American Black Supremacists who propagate the fantasy that Moorish civilisation came from Sub-Saharan Africa.

MOORISH CIVILIZATION-AMAZIGH PEOPLE(MUSLIM/JEWISH) IN IBERIA
AL ANDALUS MOORS CIVILISATION-AMAZIGH PEOPLE(MUSLIM/JEWISH) IN The Iberian Peninsula The Iberian Peninsula, or Iberia, is located in the extreme southwest of Europe, and includes modern day Spain, Portugal, Andorra and Gibraltar In 711 CE, a North African Moorish Umayyad army invaded Visigothic Christian Hispania. Under their leader Tariq ibn-Ziyad, they landed at Gibraltar and brought most of the Iberian Peninsula under Islamic rule in an eight-year campaign. Al-ʾAndalūs (Arabic الإندلس : Land of the Vandals) is the Arabic name given the Iberian Peninsula by its Muslim conquerors and its subsesquent inhabitants. The Reconquista, 790-1300. From the 8th to the 15th centuries, parts of the Iberian peninsula were ruled by the Moors (Berbers) who had crossed over from North Africa. Many of the ousted Gothic nobles took refuge in the unconquered north Asturian highlands. From there they aimed to reconquer their lands from the Moors: this war of reconquest is known as the Reconquista. Christian and Muslim kingdoms fought and allied among themselves. The Muslim taifa kings competed in patronage of the arts, the Way of Saint James attracted pilgrims from all Western Europe and the Jewish population of Iberia set the basis of Sephardic culture.

Orthodox Georgia (Iveria) allotted portion (Appanage) of the Mother of God (Theotokos)
The All-immaculate Virgin herself during her earthly lifetime had received the Apostolic allotment for the enlightening of Iberia, but an Angel of the Lord appeared to her and foretold that Iberia would become her earthly "allotted portion" only after upon her repose. Iberia, also known as Georgia or Iveria , was a name given by the ancient Greeks and Romans to the ancient Georgian kingdom of Kartli, corresponding roughly to the eastern and southern parts of the present day Georgia, including Shida Kartli - so called South Ossetia (CURRENTLY UNDER RUSSIAN OCCUPATION). The Caucasian Iberians provided a basis for later Georgian statehood and along with Colchis nearly triangular ancient western Georgian Kingdom (including Abkhazia - early western Georgian state CURRENTLY UNDER RUSSIAN OCCUPATION) formed a core of the present day Georgian people. The term Caucasian Iberia (or Eastern Iberia) is used to distinguish it from the Iberian Peninsula. The Iberian Peninsula, or Western Iberia, is located in the extreme southwest of Europe, where the present day Kingdom of Spain and Portuguese Republic are located.

Gibraltar (Part One)
Recorded August 27, 2008. Gibraltar is a self-governing British overseas territory located near the southernmost tip of the Iberian Peninsula overlooking the Strait of Gibraltar. The territory shares a border with Spain to the north. The territory covers 2.642 square miles and has a population of around 30000 people. Most of its upper area is covered by a nature reserve, which is home to around 230 Barbary Macaques, commonly known as apes, the only wild monkeys found in Europe. The video begins as we appraoch and sail around the Rock of Gibraltar on the Sea Princess. After disembarking the ship I ride the cable car to the top of the rock. Once on top there is a spectacular view of the area. Also seen in the video are numerous wild monkeys which roam freely here. From: timvp.com
