Hagar (Bible)
Hagar (, "Stranger"; Agar; ; ; Hājar), according to the Abrahamic faiths, was an Egyptian handmaiden of Sarah, wife of Abraham. At Sarah's suggestion, Hagar became Abraham's second wife. Hagar's story is reported in the Book of Genesis in Judeo-Christian tradition. In Islam, Hagar's story is alluded to in the Qur'an, but her name is not mentioned; her role is elaborated in Hadith. Hagar was the mother of Abraham's son, Ishmael, who is regarded as the patriarch of the Ishmaelites i.e. the Arabs.

Mecca (), also spelled Makkah (occasionally 'Bakkah') (; Makkah and in full: transliterated Makkah Al Mukarramah ) is a city in Saudi Arabia, and the holiest meeting site in Islam, closely followed by Medina.
http://wn.com/Mecca -
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (), commonly known as Saudi Arabia, occasionally spelled '''Sa'udi Arabia''', is the largest Arab country of the Middle East. It is bordered by Jordan and Iraq on the north and northeast, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates on the east, Oman on the southeast, and Yemen on the south. The Persian Gulf lies to the northeast and the Red Sea to its west. It has an estimated population of 28 million, and its size is approximately . The kingdom is sometimes called "The Land of the Two Holy Mosques" in reference to Mecca and Medina, the two holiest places in Islam. The two mosques are Masjid al-Haram (in Mecca) and Masjid Al-Nabawi (in Medina). The current kingdom was founded by Abdul-Aziz bin Saud, whose efforts began in 1902 when he captured the Al-Saud’s ancestral home of Riyadh, and culminated in 1932 with the proclamation and recognition of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, though its national origins go back as far as 1744 with the establishment of the First Saudi State. Saudi Arabia's government takes the form of an Islamic absolute monarchy. Human rights groups such as Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch have repeatedly expressed concern about the state of human rights in Saudi Arabia.

Al-Safa and Al-Marwah
History In Islamic tradition, Ibrahim (Abraham) was commanded by God to leave his wife Hagar and their infant son alone in the desert, with only basic provisions, to test their faith. The place was between Al-Safa and Al-Marwah. When their provisions were exhausted, Hagar went in search of help or water. To make her search easier and faster, she went alone, leaving the infant Ismael on the ground. She first climbed the nearest hill, Al-Safa, to look over the surrounding area. When she saw nothing, she then went to the other hill, Al-Marwah, to look around. While Hagar was on either hillside, she was able to see Ismael and know he was safe. However, when she was in the valley between the hills she was unable to see her son. Thus Hazrat Hajra would run while in the valley between the hills and walk at a normal pace while on the hillsides. Hagar travelled back and forth between the hills seven times in the scorching heat before she returned to Ismael. When she arrived, she found that a spring had sprouted forth from the crying baby kicking at the sand with his feet. This spring is now known as the Zamzam Well. This Zamzam Well was granted from the angels of God to reward Hagar.

Al-Safa and Al-Marwah (Safa and Marwah) The Masjid al Haram houses the holy Kaaba, the focal point of prayer for all Muslims. Safa — from which the ritual walking (sa`i, Arabic: سعى) begins — is located approximately half a mile from the Kaaba. Marwah is located about 100 yards from the Kaaba. The distance between Safa and Marwah is approximately 450 meters, so that seven trips amount to roughly 3.15 kilometers. The two points and the path between them are now inside a long gallery that forms part of the Masjid. Performing the Sa'i, also known as Sa'ee,[1] serves to commemorate Hajar's search for water and God's mercy in answering prayers

Al-Safa and Al-Marwah (Safa and Marwah) (Arabic: الصفا Aş-Şafā ; المروة Al-Marwah) are two small hills now located in the Masjid al Haram in Makkah, Saudi Arabia between which Muslims travel back and forth seven times during the ritual pilgrimages of Hajj and Umrah. A figurative, and unconventional, interpretation holds that Al-Safa and Al-Marwah do not necessarily refer to the two small hills as above.

Hajj 2010 : Sa'e ( safa - marwa)
Sa'e is one of the pillars of Hajj and Umrah. Performing it after Thawaf Al - Qudoum is better than performing after the Thawaf Al - Ifada which is one of the pillar of Hajj. However there is no any sin in delaying it until the pilgrim performs his Thawaf al Ifada The conditions of sa'e : (1) it should be preceded by a valid Thawaf (2), to assure seven runs. Going to Al-Marwa is considered as one round and coming back from Al-Marwa to As-Safa is considered as another round. Thus, the pilgrim begins with As-Safa and ends with Al-Marwa. (3) To cross all the distance between As-Safa and Al-Marwa. Hence, if there is one step left, the sa'e would be invalid. (4) To begin with As-Safa and ends with Al-Marwa. If the pilgrim began with Al-Marwa and ended with As-Safa, this going would be invalid. The sunan (desirable actions) of Sai'e (1) Going through 'Safa door' to the Hill of As-Safa. (2) To perform saie immediately after the Thawaf and on consecutive rounds. (3) To be clean from impurity (4) To walk and not ride if he can able to walk. (5) Men climbing up to the mountains of As-Safa and Al-Marwa until he can see the holy Ka'ba. (6) To invoke and glorify the God. (7) Men running in the midst of the sa'e between the two green milestones. On the eight of Dul Hijja (the day of Tharwiya) the pilgrims will rush off to Mina to stay at Mina on the night of 9th Dulhijja. This staying is recommended upon every pilgrim for mental preparation to stay at Arafath on 9th Dulhija. During ...

Safa Marwah 3D Kabah
Saee is the part of Umrah where pligrams walk between the locations of the two hills "Safa" and "Marwah". The walk is done seven times from hill-to-hill, and signifies the running back & forth that Prophet Abraham's wife, Hagar, did whilst searching for water for her child "Ishmael". Hagar was searching for water between these hills in a time when this area was nothing but desert and she was all alone in the area, underneath the blazing sun. The starting hill "Safa" is about 100 yards from the Kabah, and the distance between the 2 hills is approximately 450m.

Al-Safa and Al-Marwah (Safa and Marwah) ( , ) are two small mountains now located in the Masjid al-Haram in Mecca, Saudi Arabia between which Muslims travel back and forth seven times during the ritual pilgrimages of Hajj and Umrah.
Performing the Sa'i, also known as Sa'ee, ( "ritual walking") serves to commemorate Hagar's search for water and God's mercy in answering prayers.

Dr. Ali Shariati in his book, Hajj: Reflection on Its Rituals describes the Sa'i:
In the Qur'an
Al-Safa and Al-Marwah are also mentioned in the Qur'an.}}
In Western culture
Mount Safa is allegedly the mountain referred to in the European proverb "If the mountain will not come to Mohammed, Mohammed must go to the mountain", frequently quoted the opposite way. English language sources trace the saying to Francis Bacon.
