London, 1937. Mrs Laura Henderson, a woman of wealth and connections. has just buried her beloved husband. And now she's bored. At 69, she is far too energetic and vital to fade into gentle widowhood. What she needs, say her friend Lady Conway, is a hobby. Collecting diamonds, perhaps? Or doing charitable works? Mrs. Henderson Presents... "All the Things You Are"
American opera and concert singer Helen Traubel was best known for her singing of Wagnerian operas. In the 1950's, she also developed a career as a night club and cabaret singer. "Mrs. Henderson Presents" was a film from 2005 starring Judi Dench and Bob Hoskins and several of the lovely ladies featured in the video. It is based on a true story. Lord Chamberlain allowed the women to appear nude on stage as long as they didn't move. It was then considered as art! "All the Things You Are" lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II music by Jerome Kern "You are the promised kiss of springtime That makes the lonely winter seem long. You are the breathless hush of evening That trembles on the brink of a lovely song. You are the angel glow that lights a star, The dearest things I know are what you are. Some day my happy arms will hold you, And some day I'll know that moment divine, When all the things you are, are mine!"

"The Girl in the Little Green Hat" (1933) - on ukulele - Tim Hatcher
This nonsensical, uptempo number from 1933--a hit recording by Rudy Vallee that year--was re-introduced to modern audiences in the 2005 film MRS. HENDERSON PRESENTS, performed by Will Young. The Golden Globe-nominated film starred Judi Dench and Bob Hoskins. Songwriter Jack Scholl wrote songs for Warner Bros. from the mid-'30s to the mid-'40s, the best known being CASABLANCA (1942). His best-known songs include "Throw Another Log on the Fire", "My Little Buckaroo" and "It Had to Be You." Co-writer Max Rich's best known songs include "Smile, Darn Ya, Smile" and "One For All - All For One". As for the third contributor, Bradford Browne, I have yet to find any details about his career.

Shirley Bassey - All The Things You Are
1962 (Young Shirley Bassey recorded this wonderful track on her 1962 LP titled, (Shirley Bassey with Nelson Riddle, 'Shirley Bassey - Let's Face The Music' - Shirley started show business back in 1953 as a chorus girl, before shortly thereafter beginning her tremendously lucrative carer as a recording artist. This year (2012), Dame Shirley will be celebrating 59 years in the business. She is still performing and recording, and her last CD a few year back was a hit for her. LP Review by Bruce Eder: Bassey's fourth EMI/Columbia album is regarded as the magnum opus of her pre-Goldfinger career, bringing her together with conductor/arranger Nelson Riddle. (Ironically, it was Riddle's still being under contract to Capitol Records which prevented him from working with Sinatra on Reprise at the time, that made this record possible). Riddle approached this album from the standpoint that less is more, providing elegant and subdued accompaniment that emphasized the strings. Bassey's voice comes across with a delicacy of nuance that is startling to hear, achieving new levels of subtlety on this album. One may disagree with the order of the songs -- the moodily expressive "I Should Care," reminiscent of Judy Garland at her best, would be the ideal opener -- but not with the overall content of this album. Throughout Let's Face the Music, one almost gets a sense of Bassey slipping inside these songs, becoming part of them and they her, rather than merely performing them. The ...

All the things you are - By Jerome Kern/Oscar Hammerstein Organ - Piano
All The Things You Are by the Great Jerome Kern. Played here in an Orchestral style on Roland Atelier Organ with Additional Piano. All Played Live. No Multi-Tracking. Has to be one of "Jerome Kern's" best ever compositions. He was a total genius Musically, the melodies always put a smile on my face. In this arrangement, you can Hear Violins and Strings with a short burst of Flute and of course a Grand Piano sample from Native Instruments. I think the first time I heard this I was driving home from Southampton Late one evening whilst listening to the wonderful David Jacobs on Radio 2 and ever since it has been a firm favourite! If you like this Piece of Music then I can suggest you tune into the David Jacobs Late evening Radio 2 Programme for some very soothing and sophisticated Music. Hope you enjoy this :) Lyrics - You are the promised kiss of springtime That makes the lonely winter seem long. You are the breathless hush of evening That trembles on the brink of a lovely song.
