Ben Bridwell

Ben Bridwell, the bearded frontman of Band Of Horses has gone solo, using the moniker Birdsmell. Don’t worry, Band Of Horses are still very much a band. He’s planned small live tour in the south this November.

Bridwell explains his reasoning for the tour through a press release:

While living in Minneapolis in 2008, I covered the George Harrison song, ‘Your Love Is Forever’ with some buddies of mine. The track ended up being released on a Starbucks compilation. A few years later, I enlisted those same musicians to record some songs of mine that had been sitting around for far too long, some of which could be said to be uncomfortably silly and devoid of all reasonable taste. I wasn’t exactly in a rush to get them out to the discerning earholes of the public. Regardless, this project was pure enjoyment for me and it was nice to not give a damn about anything, but having fun recording these songs. I’ve now decided to take this approach on the road on the Birdsmell tour, which will be coming to a Deep Southern town near you this fall.

Below check out three songs that he’s posted on soundcloud: “Throw My Back Around”, “Why Were You Born?” and “Tulsa.”

[music video] Band Of Horses – Dilly

By Will Oliver, November 16th 2010 — with 2 comments

Band Of Horses have released a new music video for “Dilly”. Oddly enough, they’re giving the exclusive stream to IMDB. The music video is a bizarre one, coming off as a Tarintino short film.

Watch it at IMDB. Apparently this is the first time anything like this has been done via IMDB. Cool stuff.

[video] Band Of Horses – Georgia (Live Cee-Lo Green Cover)

By Will Oliver, October 13th 2010 — with 1 comment

A while ago Cee-Lo did a cool cover of Band Of Horses “No One’s Gonna Love You”. Band Of Horses are returning the favor by covering Cee-Lo’s “Georgia” with backup from the University of Georgia Redcoat Marching Band. Both will be included on a split 7″ vinyl that is coming out in December. You can pre-order it right now from BOH’s site. I just bought mine, you should get yours too!

Band Of Horses performed the cover to close their set at Austin City Limits. Watch the live take, below:
