Rufus Hound Rufus Hound is a comedian, presenter, actor and the owner of a fine moustache. He won that dance thing for Sport Relief dressed up as Cheryl Cole. Remember? And he's on 'Celebrity Juice' every week, sat next to Fearne Cotton. Or as the eponymous hero of CBBC's 'Hounded'. So that's what he does. Though there's other stuff as well. He hosts Radio 4's "My Teenage Diary", took over from Anne Robinson to present the final series of 'OutTake TV' for BBC1 and captained the Blue Team for three series of Dave's 'Argumental'. Having picked the year 2000 as his funniest, Channel 4 gave him two hours one Saturday night to explain why in "My Funniest Year: 2000", which was very nice of them. Oh, and he's been a guest on a lot of things too.Jonathan Ross's radio show, Strictly Come Dancing: It Takes Two, The Apprentice: You're Fired, Xtra Factor, The Five o Clock Show, This Morning... blah blah blah. He also does loads of stand-up across the country and hosts glittering awards ceremonies. Truth is, lists are boring, and all this is is a big long list of stuff he's done. So instead of that, he wrote you this poem: The little you inside the you that everyone can see, is pretty much identical to the little me in me. He hopes you like it, though agrees that there's an unpleasant 'cutesy' element to it. Anyway, he's available for work.

The Comedy Store is a comedy club located in West Hollywood, California, at 8433 Sunset Boulevard on the Sunset Strip. It has a sister comedy club in La Jolla, San Diego, California.
History
The Comedy Store was opened in April 1972 by comedians Sammy Shore and Rudy DeLuca. The building was formerly the home of Ciro's, a hugely popular Hollywood nightclub owned by William Wilkerson, and later a rock and roll venue, where The Byrds were discovered in 1964.When the venue reopened as The Comedy Store in 1972, it included a 99-seat theatre, where Johnny Carson was one of the first comics to perform. As a result of a divorce settlement, Sammy Shore's ex-wife Mitzi Shore began operating the club in 1973, and she was able to buy the building in 1976. She immediately renovated and expanded the club to include a 450-seat main room.
In 2005, Sammy Shore's son Pauly Shore starred in the TBS reality show ''Minding the Store''. The series followed Shore as he pretended to take control of The Comedy Store and attempted to "revitalize" it. In truth, the failed series resulted in the ousting of Shore from the board of directors and the installation of his brother, Peter, as CEO of The Comedy Store. Since then, the Comedy Store has seen a gradual increase in attendance and is currently experiencing a period of stability and success.
Job Action
Beginning in 1979, The Comedy Store served for many years as the host location for the annual ''HBO Young Comedians'' specials. Also that year, stand-up comedians formed a short-lived labor union and demanded to be paid for their appearances at the Comedy Store.For five weeks, several famous comedians staged a protest in front of the club, while others crossed the picket line. The comedians involved formed a union called Comedians for Compensation and fought for pay where they had received none before. They eventually picketed in front of the club when their demands were not met. Jay Leno and David Letterman were amongst those on the picket line.
The job action was not legally a strike as the comedians were classified as "independent contractors" and were not under contract with the club.
Mitzi Shore argued that the club was and had always been a showcase and training ground for young comedians and wasn't about profits. She alleged that comedians came to the club and could work on their material in front of casting agents and other talent scouts who would possibly hire them as professionals if they were good enough.
The comedians at the club became unhappy when the club was expanded several times and it was perceived that Shore's profits were quite substantial. Shore also paid the rest of her staff, including waitresses and bartenders. Several of the young comedians who had moved to Los Angeles to make it big were so poor they could not afford 3 meals a day or even housing. Jay Leno briefly lived in his car upon first arriving in LA and performing at the club.
After the strike some comedians were no longer allowed to perform at the club, including Steve Lubetkin, who committed suicide in front of the building by jumping off the roof of the Continental Hyatt House next door. His suicide note included the line: "My name is Steve Lubetkin. I used to work at the Comedy Store." Lubetkin hoped that his suicide would resolve the labor dispute. He also cited Shore as the reason he no longer had a job.
The union ceased to exist as of 1980, although from the time of the job action onward, comedians in Los Angeles were paid for their shows. This included the Comedy Store and the Improv.
Alumni
The history of the young comedians coming to Los Angeles in the 1970s and performing at the club is told in the book, "I'm Dying Up Here," by William Knoedelseder.
''Unsolved Mysteries''
The Comedy Store was featured in an episode of the supernatural documentary, ''Unsolved Mysteries'', which told reports of the Comedy Store being haunted. Comedians Blake Clark and Joey Gaynor told their stories of their encounters with the paranormal.

Early life
Gilbert was born in Carmarthen, Wales and studied languages at Exeter University. For the first three weeks, such was his painful shyness that Gilbert was unable to eat with other students in the canteen or even make friends with the student in the next room.After graduating, Gilbert travelled for a year and a half around Australia and Asia before returning to Carmarthen and working as an admin assistant for the Welsh Office. After this he worked as a qualitative researcher for a number of different market research agencies in London.
Career
Stand-up comedy
Gilbert got into professional comedy in 2002, after taking a comedy workshop course, but only "thanks to a girlfriend’s constant nagging". Within 18 months, Gilbert had already won several different talent competitions. and was nominated for the ''Perrier Newcomer'' award for his first solo show in 2005 at Edinburgh Fringe entitled ''1984.'' He has since performed worldwide.Many of Gilbert's stories are based around real life events, and his life in the wholly fictionalised village of Llanbobl. Originally invented to ensure an English heckler had nothing real to grasp on to, it has since been geographically defined as being situated between "Wrexham and Holyhead, just north of Newtown, Powys," and a sort of "grown-up Thomas the Tank Engine" location. Gilbert has described the number of audience members that come up to him at the end of shows, and say they have been to Llanbobl for holidays, and even that an English rugby union team "hammered" the Llanbobl team. Gilbert also admitted that he "may have 'accidentally' sent the rugby player that told him on a 7 hour goose-chase" to come back to Llanbobl and meet him. In 2008, Gilbert wrote a sitcom around life in Llanbobl, which featured on BBC Radio 2.
In his 2006 Edinburgh Fringe show ''Knocking on Heaven's Door'', Gilbert told stories from his life, weighing up whether he would be admitted to heaven. His 2007 show, ''Who's Eaten Gilbert's Grape?'' saw Gilbert return to Llanbobl and pick up the story following the ''1984'' show narrative. His 2008 show, ''Rhod Gilbert and the Award-Winning Mince Pie'', saw Gilbert question his sanity, his career and his life after suffering a mental breakdown brought on by the award-winning mince pie at a motorway services.
On 17 December 2008 he appeared at the 80th Royal Variety Performance.
Gilbert's 2009/10 show, entitled ''Rhod Gilbert And The Cat That Looked Like Nicholas Lyndhurst,'' was announced on 5 April. Titled so that it would stop an obsessive fan in Canterbury, Kent, coincidentally named Alex Gilbert (no relation), bringing him presents. The show previewed around the UK in small venues, before being performed at the Edinburgh Festival. The show toured UK theatres from September 2009.
On 18–19 June 2009, Gilbert made the last performances of ''Rhod Gilbert And The Award-Winning Mince Pie'' show at the Bloomsbury Theatre, which was recorded and released as a DVD on 16 November 2009. The DVD also contains several special features, including his infamous rant about lost luggage, outtakes from the performance and a mockumentary called ''Back To Llanbobl'' in which Gilbert shows the viewer around his fictional home town.
From September 2009 to April 2010 he toured the UK with a new show titled ''Rhod Gilbert and the Cat that Looked Like Nicholas Lyndhurst''; the tour included dates at many prestigious theatres such as London's HMV Hammersmith Apollo. A DVD of the tour was released on 15 November 2010.
On 14 October 2010, Gilbert cancelled a stand up show in Swindon after coming down with pneumonia. In 2011 he is beginning a series of warm-up/new material gigs across the country. One of the first is happening in Machynlleth, as part of the Machynlleth Comedy Festival. After his 150 date 2009/2010 tour, Rhod is taking a break from stand-up but has revealed he plans to tour again in 2012.
Television
Gilbert has appeared three times on the BBC2 show ''Mock The Week'', and has presented an episode of ''Never Mind the Buzzcocks'' in October 2009 and an episode of ''Have I Got News for You'' in April 2011. He has also appeared as a guest on Channel 4's ''8 Out of Ten Cats'', and has used his comedy talents to write and narrate BBC Three's 2007 ''Goals Galore'', ''Pranks Galore'', ''Football Gaffes Galore'' and ''TV Gaffes Galore'' programmes. He has also presented BBC 2W's, ''Rhod Gilbert's Teen Tribes'', providing an insight into the teen tribal worlds of "Emos", "Chavs" and "Goths".Gilbert was Paramount Comedy's continuity writer and announcer between September 2005 and April 2006, providing end-credit voice-overs for their peaktime programme schedule.
In December 2008 Gilbert was signed for an advertising campaign to further promote tourism in Wales and became the official Voice Of Wales for the country's tourist-board, fronting the 2009 Visit Wales television advertising.
Gilbert has done reports for the BBC One current affairs/ human interest show ''The One Show''.
In November 2008, Gilbert appeared on the BBC's ''Live at the Apollo'' as a guest. In December 2009, he hosted the show, introducing fellow comedian John Bishop. On 6 June 2009 Gilbert appeared as the headline act on ''Michael McIntyre's Comedy Roadshow'' on BBC One, and he guested on ''8 out of 10 Cats'' on 17 July 2009. He also provided voiceover material for the sketch show ''Walk on the Wild Side''.
On 19 January 2010, ''Rhod Gilbert's Work Experience'' aired on BBC One Wales. Zipline Creative Limited worked freelance as producer/directors, editors and also camera and sound on the series for Presentable RDF. The four part series saw Gilbert attempt a number of jobs including hairdresser, refuse collector, soldier and parent. Following the show's success on BBC One Wales, the series will air nationally on BBC2 from 10 March. Rhod will be producing a documentary on Welsh comedy for BBC Wales in the new year.
In August 2010, the BBC commissioned eight episodes of ''Ask Rhod Gilbert'' following a successful pilot earlier in 2010. The show features Gilbert, Greg Davies and Lloyd Langford answering random trivia questions, such as ‘Who would win in a race, Usain Bolt or a grizzly bear?', posed by the public and celebrities.
Radio
In 2006, he hosted the BBC Radio Wales comedy panel show ''Jest a Minute'', live from The Comedy Store in London.The second series of ''Jest a Minute'' was recorded in late 2008 in Cardiff's Glee Club, hosted by Gilbert and featuring regular team captains Chris Corcoran and Lloyd Langford, and guests from the comedy circuit such as Greg Davies, Lucy Porter and Jon Richardson.
Gilbert was also the host of BBC Radio 4's ''4 Stands Up'' comedy series which aired in the Autumn of 2008, and has also appeared twice on Radio Four's ''Just a Minute'', Radio 2's ''Does the Team Think?'', and BBC Radio 4s ''Act your Age''.
In December 2008, a pilot of his sitcom, ''Rhod Gilbert's Leaving Llanbobl'' was broadcast on BBC Radio Two; the sitcom was written and starred Rhod Gilbert and Greg Davies, with additional writing by Sian Harries. Lloyd Langford played Gilbert's amiable younger brother Emrys, Di Botcher played Brenda, a gossipy hairdresser, and Mike Hayward played Gilbert's father Gurnos. The show was produced by Ed Morrish. He has hinted in interviews that the sitcom is likely to move to TV when it is completed as he found that he was "seeing it" as he wrote it.
Rhod has also made several appearances on the BBC Radio 4 comedy program The Unbelievable Truth.
Gilbert currently fronts his own radio show ''"The Rhod Gilbert Radio Show"'', broadcast by BBC Radio Wales on Saturdays between 11am and 1pm, alongside fellow Welsh stand-up comedian Chris Corcoran.
Rhod has finished recording a new radio show for BBC Radio 2 called Rhod Gilbert's Bulging Barrel of Laughs with comedians Lloyd Langford, Greg Davies and Sarah Millican. Each show also features live music from bands such as Athlete, Scouting for Girls, Kid British and The Hoosiers. This will be broadcast in late August.

Tom Stade is a Canadian comedian, now living in Edinburgh, UK, with his wife Trudy and their two children. He began performing as a stand-up comedian in 1989 at the age of 19, and since 1997 has produced ten solo shows which have toured internationally. He has performed at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, the Melbourne International Comedy Festival and the Montreal Just for Laughs festival, earning three consecutive Perrier Award nominations for his Edinburgh shows in 2001, 2002 and 2003.
In 2002, he scored a minor hit with his single "Working Class Anthem", in which he sang the lyrics of the Australian National Anthem to the tune of "Working Class Man", a famous song by iconic Australian rocker Jimmy Barnes.
Personal life
Originally from the Sydney suburb of Loftus, Hills developed an interest in comedy after discovering an inflight comedy channel on a plane at the age of eight. Hills was born without a right foot and wears a prosthesis, which has become a frequent source of comedy in his act. He studied a Bachelor of Arts (Communications) at Macquarie University, graduating in 1991.He is married to opera soprano Ali McGregor. Their wedding took place in late December 2009 and their first child, a daughter named Beatrice Pearl, was born on 8 May 2010.
Career
Stand-up career
Hills entered the comedy scene in 1989 when he made his first appearance at the Sydney Comedy Store at the age of 19. He spent several years from 1991 splitting his time between stand-up gigs and breakfast radio, but by the mid-1990s Hills says the hours had become exhausting and he decided to focus on live comedy. In 1997 he premiered "Stand Up and Deliver", the first of 10 solo shows, all of which have toured internationally. He has travelled widely, performing at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, the Melbourne International Comedy Festival and the Montreal Just For Laughs festival. He has been nominated for three consecutive Perrier Comedy Awards for his 2001, 2002 and 2003 solo shows at the Edinburgh Fringe.The title of his 2001 show, "Go You Big Red Fire Engine", was coined during a 1999 performance in Melbourne. Hills asked an audience member to yell his name to the audience and for the audience to yell it back, but instead the man yelled "Go you big red fire engine!" The phrase quickly became an audience chant, and Hills promised he would make it the name of his next show because, he says, "it was such an uplifting and genuinely silly moment." "Go You Big Red Fire Engine" later became the name of a second stand-up show and a comedy album; it also appeared in a Detroit newspaper, on a Swedish website and was yelled by Senator Natasha Stott Despoja in the Australian Parliament.
His artificial right foot is commonly used as a source of humour in his shows and the comedian has been known to remove it and pass it around. However, Hills had been performing live comedy for over a decade before he made reference to his prosthesis on stage, and it was only after "Go You Big Red Fire Engine" was nominated for a Perrier Award in 2001 that he began incorporating it into his act. Hills says he felt he could too easily have become a novelty act and that he "didn't want to be known as the one-legged comedian ... I wanted to prove myself as a comic before talking about this."
Hills regularly has a sign language interpreter at his festival shows, a move sparked by a performance he did in Adelaide at a disability art conference. An interpreter had been provided at the show, and Hills found that it not only allowed the deaf audience members to enjoy his material but was also an entertaining and fascinating experience for the hearing audience members. "Now I have hearing people who will only book [for signer shows]," he says. He has also made appearances on Australian shows ''Rove Live'', ''The Glass House'' and ''The Fat'', as well as the British ''Never Mind the Buzzcocks'' and ''Mock the Week''. He conducted backstage interviews at Australia's 2005 and 2006 Logie Awards and was one of three presenters at the 2007 awards.
In June 2008, Hills co-hosted the ABC coverage of the 2008 Summer Paralympics.
In July 2009, Hills appeared in ''Thank God You're Here''; he also appeared on ''Good News Week''.
Hills will present his own weekly talk show on the ABC from early 2011, entitled ''Adam Hills In Gordon Street Tonight''.
Other work
In 2002, Hills released a single titled ''Working Class Anthem'', in which he sang the lyrics of the Australian National Anthem, "Advance Australia Fair", to the tune of "Working Class Man", a famous song by iconic Australian rocker Jimmy Barnes, titling it "Working Class Anthem". Around 40 comedians contributed to the song, which made the independent top 10 in Australia. All proceeds went to the Australasian Fire Authority Council, an organisation supported by Barnes and Jon Bon Jovi that supports firefighters. Hills has performed the song several times on television, including a performance honouring Barnes' guest appearance on ''Spicks and Specks''.Between 2003 and 2005, Hills wrote as a columnist for the BBC's disability website ''Ouch!''.

Darby is probably best known for playing Murray Hewitt the band manager of ''Flight of the Conchords'' in the HBO television series, a role he originally played in the BBC radio series.
Life and career
A former soldier (signaller trained in morse code), he left the New Zealand Army in 1994 and began studies at the University of Canterbury. In 1996 he formed a comedy duo, Rhysently Granted, with Grant Lobban. After winning an open mic contest at Southern Blues Bar in Christchurch they began performing at local venues. Rhysently Granted performed at two international comedy festivals which led to Darby moving up to Auckland to seek more solo stand-up experience. After performing his first solo show at the 2002 Edinburgh Festival Fringe, Darby moved to the UK to pursue his career further. At the same time, fellow Kiwis and friends Bret McKenzie and Jemaine Clement were dipping their toes in the waters at the Edinburgh Fringe.In 2004 he appeared in the Flight of the Conchords BBC radio series as the band's manager Brian Nesbit alongside comedy stars such as Rob Brydon, Andy Parsons and Jimmy Carr.
Darby plays Murray, the band's manager, on Flight of the Conchords TV show. He also provided vocals for the track ''Leggy Blonde'' on their self-titled first album and also in the second series of the show on the track "Rejected" during the episode "A Good Opportunity".
Darby played the role of Norman, the boss of Jim Carrey's character in the film ''Yes Man''. In July 2008 he appeared in a Nike advertisement featuring Roger Federer, he played an impostor posing as Federer's coach.
He appeared on a British children's television program ''The Slammer'' during the first season of the show. He is also doing several advertisements for the mobile phone company 2degrees. He appeared on Soccer AM on the 18th of October 2008 and on ''Never Mind The Buzzcocks'' on the 23rd.
The DVD of his live performance ''Imagine That!'' has gone platinum in New Zealand.
He regularly returns to New Zealand to appear in comedy shows such as ''Pulp Sport'', ''7 Days'' and ''The Jaquie Brown Diaries''.
Rhys Darby's hair colour is self-described as ''Electric Copper'' in the episode of ''Flight of the Conchords'' entitled ''Murray Takes It to the Next Level''. He also refers to this in his stand-up show ''It's Rhys Darby Night'' which he performed at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe from 6–15 August 2009, The Bloomsbury Theatre in London from the 27 July-1 August and toured around New Zealand with in October and November that year.
Darby played the role of Angus in the Richard Curtis film ''The Boat That Rocked'' released in the UK on the 1st of April 2009. This film was released in some countries in November 2009 under the name ''Pirate Radio''.
Lately, he has been in New Zealand filming T.V. ads for NZ's new mobile network 2degrees and appearing in NZ shows Rocked the Nation 2, Jaquie Brown Diaries and Intrepid Journeys. He has also branched out in to producing live comedy with his wife and their company ''Awesomeness International''. At the NZ International Comedy Festival they produced shows for local comedians Brendhan Lovegrove, Jeremy Corbett and Paul Ego. He became a climate ambassador for Greenpeace in its Sign On climate campaign and published a poem on Youtube in support of the campaign.
As of October 2009, Darby is co-hosting a Cryptozoology themed radio show with New Zealand journalist David Farrier on New Zealand radio station 95bFM called the Cryptid Factor.
The pilot episode of Darby's show "The Amazing Dermot" was aired on Channel 4 in 2009.
In January 2010, Rosie announced the birth of their second son, Theo.
From March 2010, Darby is helming in a recurring character role as an enthusiastic interviewer in a series of ads by Hewlett-Packard Company.
On 10 August 2010, ''Entertainment Weekly'' claimed that Darby was in consideration to have a part in the television series ''The Office'' replacing Steve Carell's character when the actor left at the end of the 2011 season. Darby confirmed on The Kevin and Bean Show that NBC did not negotiate further for the role and he is now involved in a pilot for CBS. In May 2011, he also filmed a pilot for a Channel 4 sitcom in the UK, ''The Fun Police''.
On 7 June 2011 Darby presented a educational video for children, in which he presented an anti-piracy, pro copyright view. This news was not well received by the public, as the New Zealand Government passed into legislation a controversial copyright law change in the preceding weeks. Darby made a media statement in which he stated 'I recently took part in an educational DVD for kiwi school kids. It’s all about the time and effort and people power that goes into making movies, in an effort to educate kids on the negative side of piracy. I was one of 7 industry professionals that volunteered their time free of charge. It’s unfortunate that this short DVD has mistakenly been associated with the government’s new Section 92A law. A law incidentally that I do not support.'.
