With the extinction of the Northern white rhino remaining very real, scientists are now turning to In Vitro Fertilisation techniques to help save the species. This will be the first time the procedure is performed on a rhino and experts say it may have significant risks and costs. The Ol Pejeta Conservancy which hosts three of the world's remaining white rhinos is working with its partners to get a new generation born and has launched its #makearhino campaign to help raise the funds. This follows the death of a Northern white rhino in the Czech Republic leaving just four of the rhinos in existence. Two of the last four Northern white rhinos left on the planet are at the conservancy where they share 90,000-acres of private wildlife conservancy-land, with only one male known as Sudan. The rhinos live under 24-hour armed guard at the wildlife sanctuary located at the foot of the snow-capped Mount Kenya, to protect them from poachers looking for rhino horns.

Ang fertilization at ang conception can be done the natural way. That is through sexual intercourse of a man and a woman. Ngayon kung gagawin yung In Vitro Fertilization in some special cases wherein ang mag-asawa ay talagang gustong-gustong magkaanak for one reason or another, eh siguro pwede nating bigyan ng consideration, tsaka ano, pagka talagang very much necessary ano. Iyon ang aking pananaw doon. Kung wala namang mangyayaring infidelity between the husband and the wife. If that can be kept secret mawawala yung worries doon sa mag-asawa na sometime in the future magkaroon ng misunderstanding kasi… Walang masama roon if it is done with utmost decency na walang masasaktan walang ma dedestroy na pamilya okay lang iyon.

Multiple births following in-vitro fertilisation (IVF) treatment leads to serious health risks in the mother and offspring. It is caused by placing multiple embryos within the uterus. However concerns about reduced success rates had deterred patients and practitioners from transplanting a single embryo.
A programme of research led from the University of Aberdeen on single embryo transfer in IVF established that a policy of placing one embryo at a time minimises the risk of twins without compromising live birth rates. This work has received international media coverage, influenced clinical guidance and resulted in an increased uptake of single embryo transfer in the United Kingdom and beyond.

Currently one in six couples will need some assistance to conceive, and are turning to In Vitro Fertilisation (IVF) for help.
Dr Deirdre Zander-Fox is Scientific Director at Repromed and Visiting Research Fellow at the University of Adelaide. Her research currently focuses on improving clinical IVF laboratory technology that will directly benefit infertile patients. This includes improving embryo freezing survival as well as the implementation of screening of embryo culture media to find the best embryo for transfer and thus improve pregnancy rates.
Dr Zander-Fox’s research focuses not only on increasing pregnancy rates after assisted reproductive technology but also on making sure that the children born from this technology are healthy for life.

Decreasing Fertility 1:01
Fertility is decreased using combined oral contraceptive pills which contain oestrogen and progesterone. Oestrogen stops the release of FSH and so egg cannot be matured or developed. Progesterone causes thick cervical mucus to be formed and so making harder for the sperm to reach the egg. There are many side effects of taking taking combined oral contraceptive pills which headache, nausea and blood clotting and it cannot prevent the spread of STD (sexually transmitted disease).
Increasing Fertility 3:48
Fertility in female is increased by providing two hormones, these are FSH (Follicle Stimulating Hormone) and LH (Luteinizing Hormone). FSH causes the egg to get matured whereas LH causes ovulation, which is the release of egg at day 14 of the menstrual cycle. If these hormones don't work out then IVF is finally done.
IVF 4:35
IVF stands for In Vitro Fertilisation. In Vitro means outside the cells so this process involve doing fertilisation outside the human body. Fertilisation is when the sperm fuse the egg (ovum), in IVF the fertilisation happen in a test tube and the fertilised egg forms into an embryo which is then implanted back into the woman's uterus.

"Sir Robert Geoffrey Edwards", CBE, FRS was an English physiologist and pioneer in reproductive medicine, and in-vitro fertilisation in particular. Along with the surgeon Patrick Steptoe, Edwards successfully pioneered conception through IVF, which led to the birth of Louise Brown on 1978. They founded the first IVF program for infertile patients and trained other scientists in their techniques. Edwards was the founding editor-in-chief of Human Reproduction in 1986. In 2010, Edwards was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine "for the development of in vitro fertilization".
Edwards was born in Batley, Yorkshire, and attended Manchester Central High School on Whitworth Street in central Manchester, after which he served in the British Army, and then completed his undergraduate studies in biology at Bangor University. He studied at the Institute of Animal Genetics and Embryology at the University of Edinburgh, where he was awarded a PhD in 1955. After a year as a postdoctoral research fellow at the California Institute of Technology he joined the scientific staff of the National Institute for Medical Research at Mill Hill. After a further year at the University of Glasgow, in 1963 he moved to the University of Cambridge as Ford Foundation Research Fellow at the Department of Physiology, and a member of Churchill College, Cambridge. He was appointed Reader in physiology in 1969.
Circa 1960 Edwards started to study human fertilisation, and he continued his work at Cambridge, laying the groundwork for his later success. In 1968 he was able to achieve fertilisation of a human egg in the laboratory and started to collaborate with Patrick Steptoe, a gynecologic surgeon from Oldham. Edwards developed human culture media to allow the fertilisation and early embryo culture, while Steptoe utilized laparoscopy to recover ovocytes from patients with tubal infertility. Their attempts met significant hostility and opposition, including a refusal of the Medical Research Council to fund their research and a number of lawsuits. Additional historical information on this controversial era in the development of IVF has been published.

"Edwin Carlyle" ""Carl"" "Wood", AC, CBE, FRCS, FRANZCOG was a prominent Australian gynaecologist, best known for his pioneering work developing and commercialising the technique of in-vitro fertilisation . He gained considerable international and national attention for his wide-ranging contributions in the field of women's health over a period of almost 50 years, although not all of it was positive given the controversial nature of many of his endeavours.
After completing his education at Wesley College, Melbourne he graduated in medicine with honours at Melbourne University in 1952. He then held positions as Research Associate at the Rockefeller Institute in New York, and Senior Lecturer in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Queen Charlotte’s and Chelsea Hospital for Women in London before becoming the Foundation Professor and Chairman of the Monash University Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the Queen Victoria Hospital and Monash Medical Centre in 1964.
Professor Wood received international acclaim in the 1970s for his pioneering work in the fields of obstetric physiology and foetal monitoring as well as in psychosomatic obstetrics and gynaecology, birth control and finally in in-vitro fertilisation. In 1988 he was recognised with the Axel Munthe Award in Reproductive Science.
Professor Wood led the Monash University IVF team in the development of the IVF technique during the late 1970s and early 1980s. His team were responsible for a number of innovations including the world's first IVF pregnancy 1973, world's first IVF baby developed using a frozen embryo 1983, world's first donor egg baby 1983, world's first IVF baby using sperm retrieval surgery 1986 and world's first Microinjection Intra Fallopian Transfer IVF baby 1992. The most important development, however, was the use of pharmaceutical and hormonal stimulation of ovaries for more control of egg maturation and collection, which transformed IVF from an experimental technique to a successful clinical treatment.

""In vitro" fertilization" or "fertilisation" is a process by which an egg is fertilised by sperm outside the body: "in vitro" . The process involves monitoring and stimulating a woman's ovulatory process, removing ovum or ova from the woman's ovaries and letting sperm fertilise them in a liquid in a laboratory. The fertilised egg is cultured for 2–6 days in a growth medium and is then implanted in the same or another woman's uterus, with the intention of establishing a successful pregnancy.
IVF techniques can be used in different types of situations. It is a technique of assisted reproductive technology for treatment of infertility. IVF techniques are also employed in gestational surrogacy, in which case the fertilised egg is implanted into a surrogate's uterus, and the resulting child is genetically unrelated to the surrogate. In some situations, donated eggs or sperms may be used. Some countries ban or otherwise regulate the availability of IVF treatment, giving raise to fertility tourism. Restrictions on availability of IVF include to single females, to lesbians and to surrogacy arrangements. Due to the costs of the procedure, IVF is mostly attempted only after less expensive options have failed.
The first successful birth of a "test tube baby", Louise Brown, occurred in 1978. Louise Brown was born as a result of natural cycle IVF where no stimulation was made. Robert G. Edwards, the physiologist who developed the treatment, was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine in 2010. With egg donation and IVF, women who are past their reproductive years or menopause can still become pregnant. Adriana Iliescu held the record as the oldest woman to give birth using IVF and donated egg, when she gave birth in 2004 at the age of 66, a record passed in 2006.

Twins, triplets and even quadruplets conceived by IVF (in vitro fertilisation) took part in a special nativity scene in Lima on Friday.
The event was organised by CEFRA, a centre specialising in fertility treatment in the Peruvian capital that was also celebrating its ten year anniversary.
Babies and older children dressed up to play all the parts, including twins dressed as angels, to an audience of proud families and medics.
The baby playing the newborn Jesus was so comfortable in his manger he slept through the whole performance.

Interview: Stabiler Schweizer Spielwaren-Markt

In this edition of Vanithalokam, first watch Dr Kripa Cyriac, MD, Fertility Specialist at Lifeline Hospital, Adoor, talk about In-Vitro Fertilisation or IVF, test tube babies, ICSI (IntraCytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI) and IUI (IntraUterine insemination).
In Vitro Fertilisation (IVF) is a process by which an egg is fertilised by sperm outside the body, with 'in vitro' meaning 'in glass'. The process involves monitoring and stimulating a woman's ovulatory process, removing ovum or ova (egg or eggs) from the woman's ovaries and letting sperm fertilise them in a fluid medium in a laboratory. The fertilised egg (zygote) is cultured for 2–6 days in a growth medium and is then implanted in the same or another woman's uterus, with the intention of establishing a successful pregnancy.
IntraCytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI, pronounced /ɪksiː/, IK-see) is an in vitro fertilization procedure in which a single sperm is injected directly into an egg, while IntraUterine insemination (IUI) involves injection of washed sperm into the uterus with a catheter. If unwashed semen is used, it may elicit uterine cramping, expelling the semen and causing pain. IUI is a more efficient method of artificial insemination. Sperm is occasionally inserted twice within a 'treatment cycle'. A double intrauterine insemination theoretically increases pregnancy rates by decreasing the risk of missing the fertile window during ovulation.
If all else fails, there is also the option of surrogate mothers. In addition, Dr Kripa Cyriac also talks about sperm/embryo freezing.
Manju Chandrababu, Chief Cosmetologist at Calluna Cosmetology Beauty Therapy Spa & Salon for Women at Changanassery in Kottayam then shows you how intense moisturising is done for aged skin.

2) Discuss the specific role of ambient air quality in successful preimplantation embryogenesis - which airborne pathogens are critical to evaluate and which are less important to the process.
3) Discuss the common sources of airborne threats to the laboratory environment - there are as many within the IVF laboratory as there are in the outside source air serving your laboratory and clinical space.
4) Recognize what can you do - what questions can you ask - to assure that your lab design, HVAC system, upstream equipment and protocols are supporting an optimal and consistent laboratory environment?
